Shiv Sena woman worker accuses member of Thackeray-led faction of assaulting her
Mumbai, Aug 9 (PTI) A case has been registered here against a member of the youth wing of the Shiv Sena (UBT) for allegedly assaulting a woman office-bearer of the rival Shiv Sena led by Maharashtra deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. The alleged incident occurred during Narali Purnima celebration at Worli Koliwada on Friday when Shiv Sena (UBT) leader and local MLA Aaditya Thackeray and Shinde, along with their respective supporters, arrived at the same time, said an official of Dadar police station. According to the complaint filed by the woman worker of the Shinde-led party, somebody punched her in the back. When she turned around, she saw Yuva Sena member Siddhesh Shinde. A `non-cognisable' case was registered against Siddhesh under BNS section 115 (2) (voluntarily causing hurt), the official said. Police can not make an arrest in a non-cognisable case without a court's permission. Siddhesh Shinde's father and Shiv Sena (UBT) MLC Sunil Shinde said it was a politically motivated complaint, and the entire incident was captured by TV cameras. Aaditya Thackeray too dismissed the allegation. 'There was a wall of police between us. (Eknath) Shinde should stop ranting and making false complaints….It's their government after all and they can even book us by branding us as urban Naxals," Thackeray told reporters. Aaditya Thackeray urges CM to hand over keys of BDD Chawl flats before Ganesh festival
Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray has written to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, urging him to expedite the handover of keys to 556 redeveloped flats under the BDD Chawl redevelopment project in Worli. The flats, completed under Phase 1 of the project, have already been allotted to beneficiaries, Thackeray said. In a letter dated July 30, Thackeray said the allottees, currently living in rented premises or transit camps, are eager to move into their new homes ahead of the Ganesh Chaturthi festival. 'These homes are ready and have been allotted. The beneficiaries are waiting to move in so they can celebrate Ganeshotsav in their new houses. For how long they are expected to remain in temporary accommodation?' the former cabinet minister wrote. Thackeray, who represents the Worli Assembly constituency, also pointed out that vacating the transit accommodations will allow them to be allocated to others awaiting redevelopment, thereby accelerating the overall pace of the project. Requesting the Chief Minister to organise a key handover ceremony, he said, 'A programme should be arranged for handing over the keys of these fully completed houses under Phase 1 to the beneficiaries.' The BDD chawls, built nearly a century ago, are currently undergoing a major redevelopment drive in various parts of Mumbai, including Worli, Naigaon, and N M Joshi Marg. The project, overseen by the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA), aims to provide modern housing to thousands of residents living in dilapidated chawls.

If Centre did not debate customs duty, Tesla showroom would have opened in 2021: Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray
Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray on Tuesday claimed that if the Centre had not debated on customs duties, the Tesla showroom in Mumbai would have opened in 2021. Speaking to reporters, Thackeray said, "It's a good thing that an electric car showroom is being opened. If the central government had not debated the customs duty, then the showroom would have opened in 2021 only." He added that it is due to the policy for electric vehicles (EVs) made by the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government in 2021 that the EV companies are coming to Maharashtra. "The EV policy that we made gives EVs major support in Maharashtra, and due to this, many companies are coming here," Aaditya Thackeray said. The MVA government passed an EV policy in 2021, which was replaced by the Devendra Fadnavis government in 2025. Earlier today, Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis inaugurated the 'Tesla Experience Centre in Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC), Mumbai and welcomed Tesla's arrival to India. The Chief Minister said, "I welcome Tesla here in Mumbai. Tesla has opened an experience centre here, and it is a statement that Tesla has arrived and it's a statement they Tesla has arrived in the right city and right state." "It is a matter of great joy for us that Tesla has launched its first experience in India in Mumbai. Tesla is establishing a logistics and servicing system here. Four big charging stations are also being established by them. I am happy that Tesla chose Maharashtra as the state has become a leader in electric mobility. Tesla is launching its Model Y in India. Maharashtra has the most dynamic electric mobility policy. I believe Maharashtra will be a preferred destination when they decide to do manufacturing in India," he added. During the inauguration of the Tesla Experience Centre, Devendra Fadnavis also highlighted the company's global recognition. "Tesla is not just a car or a car company, it is all about design, innovation and sustainability, for which Tesla stands as a testament, and I think that is a one and only reason it is loved globally," he said. The Chief Minister also mentioned the rising demand for electric Mobility in Maharashtra and India. He noted, "We have now in India and especially in Maharashtra, a very big and robust market for electric mobility, we are also a manufacturing hub of electric mobility now, but I think Tesla is going to change the entire market." Towards the end of his speech, the CM assured that "Mumbai and Maharashtra are going to treat Tesla well.... consider us as partners of your (Tesla) journey."

"What successes have we achieved so far in fighting Naxalites": Aaditya Thackeray questions Maharashtra Public Security Bill
Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India] July 11 (ANI): Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray on Friday questioned the intent behind the Maharashtra Special Public Security Bill 2024, recently passed in the Assembly, asking what the government has achieved in fighting against naxalites. Speaking to the media, Thackeray said does the bill ensure the safety of the public, or is it merely a BJP safety bill. 'What the Chief Minister has said, that this is a public safety bill, is it truly a public safety bill? Does it ensure the safety of the public, or is it a BJP safety bill? They should also explain... what successes have we achieved so far in fighting Naxalites, and under which bill were those achieved? Is anyone stopping them? What successes have we achieved so far in fighting terrorists, and under which bill were those achieved? Is anyone stopping them... what kind of safety are you talking about?' the Shiv Sena (UBT) leader said. The Maharashtra Assembly passed the Special Public Security Bill on Thursday, aiming to counter radical left ideologies and organisations allegedly promoting unlawful activities across the state. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis tabled the Bill in the Legislative Assembly. The bill, which was first introduced during the Winter Session in Nagpur in December 2024, returned to the House after a Joint Committee, led by BJP leader Chandrashekhar Bawankule, reviewed over 12,000 suggestions for amendments. The Chief Minister said the new bill was designed to fill the legislative gap left by the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), which primarily deals with active terror activities but lacks scope in tackling ideological indoctrination and subversive movements. Further, Aaditya Thackeray also commented on recent controversies involving Shiv Sena MLA Sanjay Gaikwad, who allegedly slapped a canteen worker in Mumbai over food quality. Thackeray said, 'Many Sanjays are in the news these days. One Sanjay was seen fighting in the canteen wearing shorts and a vest. Another Sanjay was seen sitting in shorts and a vest with a bag full of money. It seems that all the MLAs are advertising wearing vests. That is why Shinde must have visited Delhi on Guru Purnima to touch the feet of his guru...' Earlier, a purported video of Gaikwad allegedly slapping a canteen worker went viral on social media. The Shiv Sena MLA from Buldhana accused the Akashwani canteen of serving bad quality food and said that the staff were not listening to his complaints. (ANI)

" 50 Khokhe, Ekdum Okay": Aaditya Thackeray Over Sena Minister's "Cash" Video
Aaditya Thackeray made a serious charge, leavened with a touch of playfulness and an attempt at achieving a rhythmic quality to it with his "50 khokhe, ekdum okay" jab at the Maharashtra Minister, whose video with a bag allegedly full of cash is steadily going viral. A day after Sanjay Shirsat, Maharashtra's Social Justice Minister, received a notice from the Income Tax officials seeking an explanation on the growth of his assets between the 2019 and 2024 Assembly polls, a video of him smoking in his room with a bag suspected to be filled with cash beside him sparked a row. It is alleged that the MLA's assets surged from Rs 3.3 crore in 2019 to Rs 35 crore in 2024. "... Today, it's Sanjay Sirsat, sitting in his vest and underwear. We talk about 'Khokhe' (boxes of cash), '50 Khokhe, Ekdum Okay', one is clearly seen in the video. All these antics happening in just vests and undergarments, bags full of cash beside him, where did all this money come from? Who gave it?" asked Mr Thackeray of the rival Shiv Sena led by Uddhav Thackeray. "Can anyone just roam around carrying such wads of notes? And regarding the Income Tax notice that came the day before, will the IT department take any action? Will any action be taken on the orders of the Chief Minister or not? These are important questions that need answers," asked Mr Thackeray. Mumbai, Maharashtra: On the viral video of Minister Sanjay Shirsat, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray says, "... Today, it's Sanjay Sirsat, sitting in his vest and underwear. We talk about 'Khokhe' (boxes of cash), '50 Khokhe, Ekdum Okay', one is clearly seen in the video.… — IANS (@ians_india) July 11, 2025 Defending himself, Mr Shirsat, the Aurangabad (West) MLA, said that the bag next to his bed contained clothes and not cash as is being claimed. "The house seen in the video is my home. It shows I am sitting (clad in a banian) in my bedroom. My pet dog and a bag are also seen. This means that I have just returned from travel and removed my clothes. If I have to keep such a big bag of money, is there a dearth of cupboards? But they see (currency) notes even in cloth bag," Mr Shirsat told reporters. "Had there been money, I would have kept it in the cupboard," he said. Asked if there were only clothes in the bag, the minister said, "Of course. There were clothes in it." "Such claims won't affect my (political) career," he added. The MLA's video was posted on social media by Sanjay Raut of the rival Shiv Sena (UBT) faction. Recently, Mr Shirsat and his son had faced allegations in the Maharashtra Legislative Council regarding a hotel deal.
