Aaron Paul says Breaking Bad costar Bryan Cranston is ‘the most immature person'
Bryan Cranston, known for his role as Walter White in Breaking Bad, frequently pranked his co-star Aaron Paul on set - leading to the latter to call him 'immature'. Cranston would trick Paul into believing his character, Jesse Pinkman, was being killed off the show. Paul recounted an incident where Cranston hugged him and hinted at Jesse's death, leading Paul to frantically search for the script. Cranston involved the entire crew in his pranks, including costume designers who pretended to take measurements for a casket. Jesse Pinkman was originally intended to die in the first season, but Aaron Paul's chemistry with Bryan Cranston led to the character becoming a permanent fixture.

Aaron Paul Shares The Relentless Prank Bryan Cranston Would Pull On The Set Of ‘Breaking Bad': 'He Would Get Everybody In On It'
In spite of the often dark and grueling material of AMC's seminal crime drama Breaking Bad, it's nice to know stars Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul had a little fun on set — in the former's case, perhaps a bit too much fun. During a recent appearance on Sean Evans' popular Hot Ones series, on which Cranston has previously appeared, Paul relayed a hilarious behind-the-scenes tidbit, a relentless hallmark of production in which his co-star would repeatedly prank him about his character's death. More from Deadline Mark Johnson Re-Ups AMC Deal, Sets 'Black Vault' Drama As He Talks Anne Rice Universe Expansion, 'Great American Stories' Plan & Industry Correction Bryan Cranston Teases 'Malcolm in the Middle' Physical Comedy: "I'm, Of Course, Naked Again" Bryan Cranston Says Filming 'Malcolm In The Middle' Revival Was "So Rewarding" Since The "Whole Family" Is "Back Together" 'He's the hardest worker in the room, the most lovable — I mean, he's my best friend, my son's godfather, I adore him, I spoke to him for an hour on the phone last night. I really am obsessed with the guy, but he's also the most immature person I've ever met in my life, and I say that with just love and respect,' the Ash star prefaced. Paul then recalled an instance where The Studio actor came out of the production office and solemnly beckoned him to come over, a seeming harbinger of bad news. 'He goes, 'Come here, it's OK,' and he gives me this long hug,' the Black Mirror actor recounted. 'I'm like, 'What are you doing?' He's like, 'At least you go out in a big way, huh?' And I'm like, 'What are you talking about?' He goes, 'Did you read the latest script?' I go, 'No.' He goes, 'Oh, well, just read it, and I'm here if you need me.'' As such, Paul said he 'sprinted' into the office and asked to read the script — but upon perusing the final pages, he found his Jesse Pinkman alive and (mostly) well. 'He just made it seem like I died,' he said of his Dos Hombres Mezcal co-founder, 'but he would not stop, and he would get everybody in on it, like the costume designers said, 'Hey we gotta do your measurements for the casket, so if you could stay after work, that would be great.' I'm like, 'What are you talking about?'' In fact, his character was originally scripted to die at the end of Season 1, but the writers opted to keep Jesse alive as a result of Paul's chemistry with Cranston and the thematic foil his character offers Walter White; his character notably returns in the 2019 film El Camino. Paul certainly had the last laugh, turning to the camera and triumphantly declaring, 'But I made it!' (And, as we all know, a certain former teacher of chemistry did not.) A juggernaut of the prestige television era, Breaking Bad would go on to be nominated for 58 Emmys throughout its five-season run from 2008 through 2013, winning 16 statuettes, including three consecutive wins for Cranston (who also won a fourth as a producer on the show) and three total wins for Paul. The Vince Gilligan-created series also spawned the equally beloved Bob Odenkirk vehicle Better Call Saul, which clinched 53 Emmy nods but did not receive any awards during its run from 2015 to 2022. Newsweek reached out to Paul's representative via email for comment on Monday. The Context Hot Ones is a chat show that was launched in 2015 and is hosted Sean Evans, who asks celebrity guests questions while they eat chicken wings. With each round, the hot sauce-coated wings get increasingly spicy. Paul, 45, rose to fame as Jesse Pinkman on the AMC series Breaking Bad, which ran for five seasons from 2008 until 2013. He later reprised his role in 2019's El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie. Axelle/Bauer-Griffin/Getty Images What To Know On Thursday's episode of Hot Ones, Evans asked Paul if he could name a scene from a movie or television show that he wasn't excited to film. "Sometimes I'll hear actors talk about circling days on the production calendar for scenes that they're dreading doing," Evans said. "I'm wondering when you think about the pages that you looked at that put you into a mental tailspin, does anything immediately come to mind?" "For some reason, I'm always doing roles that are just getting beat up and tortured. You know what I mean? I don't know what that says about me," Paul said, before quickly naming a scene from Breaking Bad. "There's a scene where Jesse wakes up, and his girlfriend, Jane, is dead," the Need for Speed star continued, referring to Jane Margolis, played by actress Krysten Ritter. "I was terrified to shoot that scene. "It was such a chemical romance, but he was just so in it, all in. Really felt very in love but didn't realize that she was just destroying him. I mean, they were destroying themselves together. I was very nervous to tackle that scene, and I didn't know what to do. I didn't really rehearse it, you know? I just knew I had to put myself in that position as that guy. And so, what you saw is what you saw. It was brutal." What People Are Saying Ahead of the interview, First We Feast—the media company behind Hot Ones—announced Paul as a guest via Instagram. Nigerian Star Seyi Vibez Partners With EMPIRE, Drops New Single ‘Pressure'
Nigerian street star Seyi Vibez has partnered with EMPIRE on new music, and released a new single called 'Pressure' as part of the new deal. The song, more low-key than the gritty street vibe on which the artist has built his career thus far, 'is a complete shift from my usual sound,' Seyi Vibez said in a statement announcing the release. 'It leans into melody, intimacy and raw emotion. It's smoother, softer and more intentional. I wanted to show my range, to prove that I can give you fire and tenderness in the same breath. This track is about the quiet power of love and attention. Sometimes the loudest statement is how you move when no one's watching. That's real pressure.' Since then, he has proved prolific, dropping a series of singles, albums and EPs, most recently February's Children of Africa, which saw all four of its songs reach the U.S. Afrobeats Songs chart, and his catalog has racked up north of 400 million on-demand streams in the U.S. alone, according to Luminate. Along the way, he's collaborated with the likes of Burna Boy, Olamide, Young Jonn, Kizz Daniel, BNXN, Russ and NLE Choppa, among others. 'We are happy to partner with Seyi Vibez, an artist whose vocal dexterity and versatility truly stand out,' said Mobolaji Kareem, EMPIRE's regional head of West Africa, in a statement. 'He is a great fit and we look forward to helping his continued growth as a global artist.' 'I'm stepping into this new chapter with the spirit of my ancestors,' added Seyi. 'I carry the energy of Orisa: the guardian, the protector, the voice of the city.' Check out the new song below. Aaron Paul Relives His ‘Price Is Right' Failure on ‘Hot Ones,' Incorrectly Guesses the Price of a New Car
'Hot Ones' host Sean Evans forced Aaron Paul to relive the embarrassment of overbidding on a car when he was a contestant on 'The Price of Right,' and then asked him to repeat the experience as if a Chevy 2024 were actually on the line. 'How would you distill the experience of being a contestant on 'The Price Is Right,' because when I watch the 2000 appearance, which has millions of views on YouTube, it seems like such an emotional roller coaster,' Evans began. 'How dare you bring that up?' the actor, who was beginning to sweat profusely, replied, pretending to be insulted. Paul explained, 'I was struggling. I needed money, and we could use that sports car. I could have used that car, right? And I was so depressed when I bid $132 over and then my buddy actually stayed. They did two tapings that day, and he won the Showcase Showdown. He won a trip to Fiji, New Orleans and London. However, it wasn't a total loss for Paul, 'I went to New Orleans with him.' Then Evans upped the ante by producing a photo of a 2024 Chevy, once again asking Paul to come close to the MSRP without going over. Paul guessed $34,695 and was dismayed to learn that, once again, he had bid too high, as the actual MSRP is $30,000. Evans also played clips from the time when Bryan Cranston was on the show and asked Paul to respond to 'pull quotes' his 'Breaking Bad' costar dished out at the time. 'If a character cries easily, the audience doesn't have to, but if a character tries not to cry, that's when the audience will [cry],' Evans read from the Cranston transcript. Before Paul could reply to that, he noted that the hotness of the sauces was getting to him. 'It's hitting me. This is actually… it's creeping up. It's one of those things that you feel like you've accomplished something victorious. And then your face is on fire.' Paul confirmed that he encouraged Cranston to snack on the fake meth on the award-winning show. 'I would sling that meth to anyone that walked onto that set,' he laughed. 'Now, I gotta be honest, I actually stole as much met from that show as possible. But I wish I stole more things, you know… the rule of thumb when you're doing you know, work in this industry, just steal sh–t.' He continued, 'Don't ask, because they'll say no. Just steal it and they'll get over it.' Watch the segment in the embedded video above. Paul's new sci-film 'Ash,' is now on VOD and digital platforms.
