Eastleigh sign former Shrewsbury, Wycombe and Northampton defender

EASTLEIGH have announced the signing of experienced defender Aaron Pierre following his departure from Shrewsbury Town. The Spitfires fought off interest from EFL clubs to land the 32 year old centre-back, who has made nearly 350 appearances across League One and League Two. Pierre also adds international experience to Kelvin Davis' promotion hunting squad, having represented Grenada over 15 times. He arrives at the Silverlake Stadium as Eastleigh's eighth signing of the season and made 33 appearances in League One last season. 'I spoke to the manager for a good few weeks and got really good vibes from him and good communication in terms of what we're trying to do as a club," Pierre said. 'I want to make sure I give (the fans) 110% and make sure we perform as well as we can throughout the season. "I want them to see that I came here because I see the vision of where the club is trying to go.' Manager Davis commented added: 'I'm really pleased. It's a position that we've been chasing for a little while in terms of the profile of player to fit what we want to do. 'He has a track record of being a real competitor and has the attributes to really push us on. "So Aaron comes and joins a group of hungry lads that want to kick on and win football matches. Pierre began his professional career at Brentford, signing his first senior contract in 2012. Following a loan move, he joined Wycombe Wanderers permanently in 2014, going on to make over 120 appearances. In 2017, Pierre moved to Northampton Town, where he made 60 appearances and earned the club's Player of the Season award for the 2017/18 campaign. His performances attracted interest from higher up the pyramid, and he joined Shrewsbury Town in 2019. Across three seasons, he made more than 90 appearances and was once again named Player of the Season in his first year at the club. Pierre later had spells with Sutton United and AFC Wimbledon, before returning to Shrewsbury Town in 2023. Internationally, Pierre has been capped several times for Grenada, including appearances in the Concacaf Gold Cup, adding international pedigree to his profile.

Teyana Taylor Gushes On How Aaron Pierre ‘Handles' Her ‘Like A Cup Of Tea'

Teyana Taylor is always open to talking about her boo, Aaron Pierre, and now she's letting us know exactly how he handles her. In a teaser for an upcoming interview with Complex Music, the singer and actress revealed that her lion King is 'very gentle' and that his support of her new music was all the help she needed. 'It felt good to have someone be as passionate and as serious as you are,' Taylor said. 'When you work on something, you have a whole team that's supported, but nobody ever gonna see it the way you see it. Sometimes, you might get so passionate, they're looking at you like, 'chill out' but to have a person that's right there like 'yup! mhmmm', to have someone on your side fully hear you and don't think your visions are crazy, don't think that what you see or what you feel is crazy…' She continued, 'I'm really big on how you handle me, and I feel like you got to handle me like a cup of tea. How would you walk with a cup of tea versus how you would walk with a bottle of water? You walk with a bottle of water, you're like, shaking the water, you throwing it up and down. With a cup of tea you walk slower. You're more calm, you're more delicate. And even when you sip it, what happens if you sip the tea too, too fast? You're going to burn your tongue. I am a cup of tea.' Snap, snap, snap . Heard you, Teyana! 'I feel like he handles me as such, you know, he's very, very gentle. It allows me to feel warm and to feel safe and not be in survival mode,' she said in closing. Our girl has been basking in that pride rock loving since going public with Pierre during this year's Oscars after parties and has released visuals starring her new man for two tracks from her upcoming project, Escape Room . The latest, 'Bed of Roses' features the two sharing some sweet, intimate moments bed of roses, and the internet has not been able to handle all the heat. The teaser brought celebs like Winnie Harlow, Monica and Audra Day to the comments to gush over the hot couple. The cute visuals also feature a spoken intro from actress Issa Rae who seems to be telling the story of how Teyana and Aaron came to fall for one another unexpectedly. May that type of surprise find us all! It's unclear when the two may have started getting cozy, but it's obvious that they're both really into what they're building together. Not only did Tey throw him a surprise birthday dinner with both of their families and friends, she also brought him along to the BET Awards where she had her daughters, Junie and Rue Rose, by her side as well. Nathan Fillion's Guy Gardner Is Dropping F-Bombs and Smug Swagger in HBO's LANTERNS — GeekTyrant

Nathan Fillion is going to get the opportunity to really let it rip as Green Lantern/Guy Gardener in the Lanterns series, and by 'it,' I mean a whole lot of F-bombs. The Firefly and Castle star is bringing his version of Guy Gardner to James Gunn's Superman , but it's the upcoming Lanterns series on HBO where Fillion really gets to let loose. Unlike the PG-13 Superman, Lanterns is going full TV-MA, and so is Fillion's trash-talking, bowl-cut-sporting Gardner. 'I've dropped more f-bombs in that project than I have in, I think, my entire career put together,' Fillion told Entertainment Weekly. And coming from someone who's worked with Gunn on the profanity-filled Peacemaker, that's saying something. Fillion fpops up as Gardner in Peacemaker Season 2, before stepping into the spotlight in Lanterns , which Gunn has described as a gritty HBO drama in the vein of True Detective. It's a grounded mystery wrapped in cosmic chaos and Fillion is clearly having a blast playing the smug Lantern with a chip on his shoulder and a giant emerald middle finger at the ready. 'Guy Gardner is no longer comfortable. He is no longer feeling smug,' Fillion teased about his first interactions with Aaron Pierre's John Stewart. 'Then you can see where John's strength really lies. That is a strong individual.' Fillion had plenty of praise for Pierre, saying, 'Aaron, he's got a voice like butter. And he's statuesque, like he's carved out of marble. He's very, very specific about his character and what his character's going through. His character's clearly going through something. And then along comes this gregarious, smug son of a bitch in Guy Gardner.' That contrast seems to be at the core of the series, with Fillion's loudmouth bouncing off Pierre's composed, battle-worn Stewart. And though he doesn't have many scenes with Kyle Chandler's Hal Jordan, Fillion still got to meet the Lantern veteran. 'Meeting Kyle, he's everything you'd hope he would be. Very fun, very nice man, very lighthearted, and fun to be around.' Fillion has history with the Green Lantern legacy, having voiced Hal Jordan across several DC animated movies since Green Lantern: Emerald Knights in 2011. But this time, it's different. 'There's been a bunch of people now who have played Hal Jordan, but I'm the first live-action Guy Gardner. If there's to be another, I'll still be the first. So I think I'm in a great spot.' The series, helmed by showrunner Chris Mundy ( Ozark ) and executive producers/writers Tom King ( Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow ) and Damon Lindelof ( Watchmen ), centers on Lanterns John Stewart and Hal Jordan as they're drawn into a murder mystery in the American heartland. 'Our driving force has been to deliver a layered drama — rooted in nuanced storytelling and rich world building — that balances tension and mystery with honest, authentic emotion,' said Mundy. Also starring Kelly Macdonald, Garret Dillahunt, Poorna Jagannathan, and Ulrich Thomsen, Lanterns is slated to premiere on HBO in 2026. Until then, Superman flies into theaters this Friday, and it'll be our first proper taste of Fillion's Guy Gardner flipping off the DC Universe.

LANTERNS Casting Details Reveal Surprising Plans to Explore Hal Jordan's DCU Past — GeekTyrant

DC Studios is making some interesting moves with Lanterns , and the latest casting breakdowns are shedding light on what they are looking to do, especially when it comes to Hal Jordan's backstory. While most fans assumed the spotlight would fall squarely on John Stewart (Aaron Pierre), who will be the DCU's primary Green Lantern, what caught everyone off guard was the decision to cast a 59-year-old Hal Jordan (Kyle Chandler) and a 54-year-old Guy Gardner. That choice implies that these characters have lived full lives in this continuity before we even meet them. And now, thanks to a new report from Nexus Point News, it sounds like Lanterns is going to explore that history. The series has already cast younger and older versions of John Stewart's parents, as well as a child version of John and his brother, which suggests at least one flashback-heavy episode. The same treatment is now being given to Hal. The show is currently casting Hal's parents, Martin and Jessica Jordan, and a child version of Hal himself. According to the report: 'Martin is described as handsome, confident, charming, but hides a deep sadness. Similar to the comics, he's a pilot and hero to young Hal, who he has a very close relationship to. The series is also confirmed to depict the death of Martin Jordan and the influence it has on Hal as a child.' That tragic event has long been a foundational piece of Hal's character in the comics, and it sounds like the show is leaning into it. The site also adds: 'Jessica is described as being emotionless after the death of her husband and she is being cast for a funeral scene. In addition, a child version of Hal is being cast for multiple scenes. He's described as defiant, spirited, brave, and a rule breaker who follows in his father's footsteps.' It's not confirmed if we'll actually see Hal as a young Green Lantern on Oa, but all signs point to both Stewart and Jordan getting well-developed origin arcs in the show. The presence of younger actors and flashback scenarios opens the door to a deeper character dive than we might've expected for a series that was pitched as 'True Detective in space.' There's still plenty of mystery around where Lanterns is headed. Some fans are already speculating Hal Jordan could be killed off or even take a villainous turn as Parallax in the series, but we'll just have to wait and see. Lanterns will follow John Stewart and Hal Jordan, two intergalactic cops investigating a murder mystery rooted in Earth. Showrunner Chris Mundy ( True Detective: Night Country ) is joined by Watchmen 's Damon Lindelof and comic writer Tom King ( Supergirl ) on scripting duties. The cast also includes and Ulrich Thomsen as Sinestro, along with Kelly Macdonald, Garret Dillahunt, Poorna Jagannathan, Nicole Ari Parker, Jason Ritter, J. Alphonse Nicholson, and Jasmine Cephas Jones. Lanterns is currently set to premiere in 2026 on HBO and Max.
