For better or worse: Steelers offense edition
It seems that every offseason since the retirement of quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, the Pittsburgh Steelers have been trying to find a way to get the offense on track without Big Ben. 2025 is no different with the team preparing to start it's fourth different starting quarterback in four years since Roethlisberger's retirement. This year's iteration is no different. Aaron Rodgers is going to see if he has one more season in him, there's a radically different running back depth chart and a new look at wide receiver and tight end. There is also one new starting offensive lineman and one lineman making a position change. Advertisement Here is our look at each positional unit and whether it is better or worse than last season. Quarterback We do believe Rodgers is a better quarterback than Russell Wilson or Justin Fields was last season. We also appreciate the return of Mason Rudolph as a backup, even if he isn't the most talented guy. We are banking on Rodgers playing all 17 games and injecting some life into the passing offense. BETTER Running back Pittsburgh swapped out Najee Harris, who left for the Los Angeles Chargers, and replaced him with rookie Kaleb Johnson. If this were the only move, we probably wouldn't say it's better as of now. However, we give this group the nod after the addition of Kenneth Gainwell, who gives Pittsburgh a viable No. 3 running back. BETTER Advertisement Wide receiver We were so excited when we thought this group would include DK Metcalf and George Pickens. Unfortunately, with Pickens traded away to the Dallas Cowboys, this group is thin once again. Big picture, there's no more talent on the depth chart than last season, but we will give this group the nod just because we don't expect Metcalf to be the problem Pickens was. BETTER TIght end The trade for Jonnu Smith gave the Steelers the best one/two punch at tight end in the AFC. Smith and Pat Freiermuth are matchup nightmares and once you throw in Darnell Washington and Connor Heyward, Pittsburgh might be impossible to stop with this level of scheme versatility. BETTER Advertisement Offensive line Mark it down, by the end of the 2025 season, we expect the Steelers' offensive line to be considered one of the best in the NFL. Center Zach Frazier was elite as a rookie last year and guard Mason McCormick is a future star. We are excited to see how BRoderick Jones does at left tackle and the debut of Troy Fautanu at right tackle. Steelers tease big announcement in cryptic social media post: here's what fans should know
The Pittsburgh Steelers just dropped a cryptic teaser on social media — and while fans are dying to know what's in store, a previous report may shed light on the announcement to come. On Tuesday at 7:00 PM EST, the Steelers posted a 'Forged in Pittsburgh' message along with an announcement date: July 21, 2025. Steelers fans who have kept up to date on recent rumors, speculation, and reports know this date is the predicted announcement of the brand-new throwback jerseys — ones that reportedly pays homage to the 1960s throwback uniforms worn from 2007 to 2011. Advertisement Previously, Steelers President Art Rooney II announced the new throwback jerseys would be worn against the Green Bay Packers — later confirmed to be in Week 8 on Sunday Night Football. The potential return of the gold helmets and black jerseys with all-gold lettering would be a welcome one — especially if Aaron Rodgers gets the opportunity to don the throwback uniform against his former protege, Jordan Love. Steelers' Aaron Rodgers reveals what excites him most about first season in Pittsburgh
Aaron Rodgers — the Steel City's newest quarterback — is embracing what it means to be a Steeler. Speaking with NBC Sports at the American Century Championship, Rodgers was asked to share what excites him the most about his first season in Pittsburgh — and this was his response: Advertisement "Well, I just like the newness of it all," Rodgers said. "I mean, I'm excited about being at such a great franchise — with a Hall of Fame head coach. And I've enjoyed getting to know Arthur Smith, our coordinator. The [Steelers] quarterback coach, actually, was in my quarterback room a million years ago. I've known Tom Arth since we were young kids without any gray. "So, it's fun. It's a good quarterback room. It's a good leadership in the locker room, great fan base, and I'm just excited to get back out there and finish it the right way." Earlier at the ACC, Rodgers made headlines for the right, wrong, and hilarious reasons — as he had a tense encounter with an "autograph hound", and a heartwarming photo op with a young child at the three-day golf tournament. Advertisement Rodgers has strongly hinted at retirement after the 2025 season — and with arguably a stacked Steelers roster, hanging it up with a deep-playoff run isn't as far-fetched for the Steel City as many believe. 'Cracker of the day': Aaron Rodgers slammed for mocking kid at golf event as Antonio Brown fires off racially charged insult
Aaron Rodgers faced criticism for a terse response to a fan, with Antonio Brown's racially charged comment fueling the fire (Getty Images) Aaron Rodgers is back in the headlines—and this time, it has nothing to do with touchdowns or torn Achilles tendons. The veteran quarterback, now with the Pittsburgh Steelers, found himself at the center of controversy over the weekend during the American Century Championship in Lake Tahoe, Nevada. A seemingly lighthearted moment with a young fan turned sour, prompting sharp criticism—and even a racially charged jab from former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown. Aaron Rodgers brushes off young fan after errant shot As Aaron Rodgers walked between holes at the celebrity golf event, a young boy in the crowd yelled out, 'You almost hit me, Aaron Rodgers,' referring to a stray golf shot that reportedly came near him. Rodgers, without stopping or offering any gesture of concern, replied dryly: 'Almost doesn't count.' — NFL_DovKleiman (@NFL_DovKleiman) While the moment may have been brushed off as sarcasm by some, many saw it as another example of Rodgers' growing reputation for being aloof or dismissive. No video evidence confirms how close the ball actually came to hitting the boy, but the quarterback's tone sparked debate across social media. Antonio Brown weighs in with a provocative message In true Antonio Brown fashion, the controversial former NFL star didn't hold back. He reposted the video of the exchange and captioned it with just four words: 'Cracker of the day.' by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Hvor mye koster bærbare klimaanlegg? FindingFrenzy Les mer Undo The post quickly went viral, with some users condemning the racial undertone while others defended it as a commentary on privilege and celebrity detachment. Brown's remark adds yet another layer of controversy to a situation already brimming with uncomfortable optics—especially at a family-oriented event meant to highlight athlete-fan camaraderie. Aaron Rodgers also declines autograph, calls fan an 'autograph hound' Rodgers didn't stop at one awkward interaction. A day earlier, he reportedly refused to sign memorabilia for a fan who claimed to have seen him play back in 2005. When the fan failed to answer a trivia question about that game, Rodgers walked away, dismissing him as an 'autograph hound.' Despite tying for 15th place and putting up a respectable Stableford score of 44, Rodgers' on-course performance was largely overshadowed by the backlash. His lighthearted quote, 'I just like the newness of it all,' in reference to joining the Steelers, was a rare positive takeaway.
