Egypt's FM will meet with UN former chief, Gambian Foreign Minister in Cairo
CAIRO – 30 May 2025: Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration, and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs Badr Abdelatty will meet with Ban Ki-moon, former Secretary-General of the United Nations, on Saturday in Cairo, according to a statement issued by the Ministry on Friday. Additionally, Abdelatty will attend the Tripartite Meeting on Libya (Egypt, Tunisia, and Algeria). Then, he will with Gambian counterpart Mr. Mamadou Tangara. The meeting will be followed by an expanded discussion session and a joint press conference. Afternoon, Abdelatty will receive Senator Tim Sheehy, Member of the US Senate Armed Services Committee.

Egypt, Morocco establish a joint committee to boost economic cooperation - Foreign Affairs
Egypt and Morocco will establish a joint coordination committee to boost economic cooperation, which will be chaired by the prime ministers of both countries. The agreement was reached during Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty's current visit to the Kingdom and as part of a series of meetings with senior Moroccan officials and business leaders. A Foreign Ministry statement said the committee will operate under the umbrella of the Higher Joint Committee, chaired by the President of Egypt and His Majesty the King of Morocco. The committee's first session is expected to be held before the end of this year. It will meet regularly, alternating between the two countries. The statement added that the committee will positively impact the strengthening of trade exchange, the flow of mutual investments, and the enhancement of regional trade partnerships. The Ministry stressed that establishing the new committee reflects the political will of both brotherly nations to enhance bilateral cooperation and fulfil the directives of both countries' leaderships to intensify efforts to advance economic, trade, and investment cooperation. According to the statement, it also aims to activate regional institutional frameworks and maximize their potential benefits. During his visit to Morocco, FM Abdelatty also visited the Egyptian Cultural Centre in Rabat, where he toured the centre's library, lecture and seminar hall, and museum. Abdelatty Minister emphasized Egypt's commitment to strengthening cultural ties with Morocco, given the deep historical relations between the two nations.. OPEN// FM says Egypt keen to foster relations with Morocco in various areas
CAIRO, May 29 (MENA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty said Egypt is keen on fostering relations with Morocco in various fields, lauding the existing coordination and consultation between the two countries. Abdelatty made the remarks during his meeting on Thursday in Rabat with Speaker of the Moroccan House of Representatives Rachid Talbi El Alami. The top Egyptian diplomat expressed hope for holding the fourth edition of the coordination and consultation Mechanism at the level of foreign ministers. The minister stated Egypt pays great attention to enhancing trade, industrial and investment ties with Morocco and building on the important outcomes of the visit of Egyptian Investment Minister Hassan El Khatib to Morocco in February 2025 and the visit of Moroccan Secretary of State in charge of Foreign Trade Omar Hejira to Cairo in May 2025, with a view to promoting bilateral trade and establishing successful partnerships between the two countries' private sectors. Abdelatty noted Egyptian companies stand ready to participate in infrastructure projects being carried out in Morocco, in preparation for hosting the 2030 FIFA World Cup. Meanwhile, the foreign minister lauded the effective role of the Moroccan Parliament at the Arab, African, Mediterranean and Latin America levels. In this regard, Abdelatty commended the Moroccan parliamentary diplomacy's part in supporting Arab issues, notably the Palestinian one, in international parliamentary forums. He added the Egyptian Parliament looks forward to exchanging experience with its Moroccan counterpart, especially with regard to issues of common concern. The foreign minister stressed Egypt's keenness to increase the exchange of visits between speakers of the two countries' legislative bodies, highlighting the visit of Senate Speaker Abdel Wahab Abdel Razeq to Morocco in April 2025. During the visit, Abdelatty was briefed on activities of the center that aim at strengthening cooperation between Egypt and Morocco, as well as the role of the centers in serving as a bridge of communication between the two brotherly countries. According to Ambassador Tamim Khallaf, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Minister Abdelatty delivered a written message from President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to King Mohammed VI of Morocco. During the meeting, Minister Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt's commitment to strengthening bilateral relations across all fields. He expressed hopes of advancing cooperation by convening the Joint High Committee in Cairo and holding a meeting of the "Coordination and Consultation Mechanism" between the two countries' Foreign Ministers. He also emphasized the importance of enhancing economic and trade cooperation, noting the significance of the visit by Egypt's Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade to Rabat in February 2025. The Foreign Minister highlighted the successful convening of the Egyptian-Moroccan Business Forum held in Cairo on May 4, which brought together 148 companies—74 from Egypt and 31 from Morocco. He underscored Egypt's keenness to follow up on the forum's outcomes in preparation for the Joint Trade Committee meeting scheduled for October 2025 in Cairo. The two countries also agreed to establish a Joint Coordination and Follow-up Committee, to be chaired by both Prime Ministers and comprising relevant ministries and agencies. This committee is expected to hold its first session before the end of this year. The ministers also exchanged views on key regional issues, with particular focus on the situation in the Gaza Strip. Minister Abdelatty detailed Egypt's ongoing efforts to halt Israeli aggression, resume the ceasefire, and ensure the unimpeded delivery of humanitarian aid. He also discussed the Arab plan for the reconstruction of Gaza and Egypt's intention to host a reconstruction conference once a ceasefire is secured. In this context, Abdelatty praised King Mohammed VI's role in chairing the Al-Quds Committee and the Committee's contributions in support of the Palestinian cause. Other regional matters discussed included recent developments in Syria, Lebanon, Libya, the Horn of Africa, and the Sahel region, as well as issues related to maritime security in the Red Sea and Egypt's water security. Minister Abdelatty expressed gratitude for Morocco's supportive position regarding Egypt's water-related concerns. Joint Egyptian-Moroccan Coordination and Follow-up Committee As part of the visit, Egypt and Morocco announced the establishment of a Joint Coordination and Follow-up Committee, chaired by the Prime Ministers of both nations and including key ministers and senior officials. This committee will operate under the framework of the Joint High Committee, chaired by the two heads of state, and will convene on a rotating basis between the two countries. Its inaugural session is scheduled to take place before the end of 2025. The committee is expected to play a pivotal role in enhancing trade exchange, encouraging bilateral investment, and strengthening regional trade partnerships. It will build upon existing institutional frameworks, including the Agadir Agreement and the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA). This initiative reflects the shared political will of Egypt and Morocco to deepen bilateral cooperation and fulfill the directives of their respective leaderships. The aim is to scale up economic, trade, and investment collaboration and to activate and leverage regional institutional mechanisms to their full potential.
