Let's take a look at how and handled a tricky question about and managed to give everyone a good laugh. Karan's cheeky question to Abhishek In the past, not long after their wedding, Abhishek and Aishwarya appeared on Karan Johar's chat show ' .' It was during season three, and they were in the opening episode. That's when Karan decided to bring up the three most important women in the 'Guru' actor's life. Karan asked the 'Bunty Aur Babli' actor, "Do you feel, Abhishek, at any point, you've been torn between the three women in your life? Because, you know, you have the apple of Jaya Aunty's eyes and Shweta's life, and now you have another woman in your life. Have you ever felt that you need to juggle the act at all?' Before the 'Sarkar' actor could even open his mouth, Aishwarya jumped in with a sharp, funny comment. She said, 'The only time the wife will be called the other woman.' Her quick reply left everyone laughing. It also showed how well she handled a slightly awkward question with grace and wit. Abhishek gave all the credit to the women Once the laughter settled, the 'Happy New Year' actor answered the question in a very balanced way. He said, 'I think credit has to be given entirely to the girls. I have very little to do with it. What also works is that Maa and she (Aishwarya) are very close. They talk about everything. IIT-IIM degrees, Goldman Sachs job. Left everything to know more about security guards. Who is Abhishek Kumar, co-founder of MyGate?
Abhishek Kumar holds degrees from the presitigious IIT-Kapur and IIM Ahmedabad. (Pic credits- LinkedIn) At a time when most would chase promotions and perks in glass towers, Abhishek Kumar did the unthinkable. An IIT Kanpur graduate with an MBA from IIM Ahmedabad, and then a Vice President at Goldman Sachs, he quit his high-profile job to shadow security guards in gated societies. Not for a documentary, not as a social experiment—but to build something that would redefine urban community living in India. That idea became journey began at Delhi Public School, R.K. Puram, one of India's most prestigious schools. He then went on to pursue a from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, followed by an MBA from IIM- Ahmedabad. Armed with a world-class education, he entered the finance world and spent six years at Goldman Sachs, eventually rising to the position of Vice President. But the boardroom didn't satiate his long-term purpose. Abhishek's drastic shift wasn't impulsive—it was sparked by a vision shared by Vijay Arisetty, an alumnus of NDA and ISB. In 2016, Arisetty foresaw the rise of smart community living and the pressing need for secure, connected, and digitized residential societies. Alongside him were Abhishek Kumar and Shreyans Daga, an IIT Guwahati and ISB alumnus. In one of his LinkedIn posts, he wrote that 9 years back, he was shadowing the security guards for several weeks to gain more insights for their app. He decided to step into the shoes again and did a full 12 hours shift of a guard from 8 am to 8 pm for a day. The trio—each from a vastly different background—came together to co-found Bengaluru-based app, MyGate, a community management app that today handles over 720,000 requests every minute and has processed more than 6 billion entries across India. Its mission? To enhance daily living with security, convenience, and some startup founders skim user data for insights, Abhishek went boots-on-the-ground. He spent months observing and speaking with security guards, understanding the operational gaps. What began as a digital gatekeeping solution quickly expanded into an ecosystem, helping residents discover local services, purchase property, and even file society tickets, of which over 6 million have been resolved through the platform. According to Tracxn, Vijay Arisetty, together with Daga and Kumar, the trio built MyGate into a Rs 1,670 crore powerhouse, transforming how Indians experience community Arisetty's journey began in the Indian Air Force, where he served as a decorated helicopter pilot and was awarded the Shaurya Chakra for his heroic efforts during the 2004 tsunami. A career-ending sports injury led him to pivot from military service to the corporate world. He earned an MBA from ISB Hyderabad and later became Vice President at Goldman Sachs. Yet, despite the success, Vijay felt a void—driven by a desire for deeper purpose beyond the corporate grind. ( Originally published on Jul 13, 2025 )

Goa govt says no new permits for ‘Rent a Cabs'
Panaji: Goa govt has directed the state transport authority (STA) to stop issuing new licences and permits under the Rent a Cab Scheme, 1989. Exercising powers under Section 67(1) of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, the notification issued on Tuesday, said the move aims at preventing overcrowding and enhancing road safety across the state. TOI had reported earlier this year that the decision to stop issuing fresh permits was taken on Feb 24, 2024, at a meeting of the state transport authority. Transport director Pravimal Abhishek had issued a public notice in March asking applicants not to submit any new applications for Rent a Cab permits as 'such applications will not be processed' at this stage. The public notice was issued a day after the directorate of transport announced a crackdown on unauthorised private vehicle operations as Rent a Cab services in Goa, wherein offenders will face a fine starting at Rs 10,000, with repeat violators subject to heavier penalties. Abhishek said that the authorities will impound private vehicles that are used for commercial purposes and may also lead to the cancellation of the vehicle registration. Enforcement agencies were asked to conduct regular checks and crack down on illegal Rent a Cab operations.

'Sir, we're activating your credit card'—How one call almost emptied your bank account
It started like any regular post-delivery routine. Abhishek Walia had just received his new credit card when he got a call from someone claiming to be from the card issuer. The voice was calm, courteous, and well-spoken. 'Sir, we're helping customers activate their cards quickly to avoid deactivation,' the caller said. What followed was a script that felt disturbingly legitimate. The caller confirmed Abhishek's name, his bank, and the last four digits of the credit card—details that would make anyone believe the call was real. Slowly, the caller asked for the card expiry date, the CVV, and eventually, an OTP that had just landed on Abhishek's phone. Something didn't feel right. 'I asked why they needed my OTP for card activation. He said it was mandatory. That's when I hung up,' Abhishek wrote in a now-viral LinkedIn post. Trusting his instinct, he called the official customer care number—only to find a fraud transaction had just been attempted using his card. Fortunately, it was blocked. He was lucky. Many others aren't. Here are some simple, actionable steps you can implement to stay ahead of fraud and stay safe: 1. Enable real time alerts: Always enable email or SMS alerts for each credit card transaction. It will ensure you receive communication immediately upon any unauthorized spend which allows you to take necessary action before any harm is caused. 2. Regularly review your account: Make it a habit to daily view card transactions online or to view through your banking app. It takes just a minute each day to see if unexpected charges come up, and perhaps catch it early. 3. Don't give out your card information: Never share your OTP, CVV number or PIN (even to people who say they are from your bank). Banks do not want this information from you. 4. Set daily or transaction limits: If you reduce the limits on your credit card to zero you will minimise loss in the event that your card gets compromised. These limits can now be set in a few seconds on most banking apps. 5. Be aware of POS and ATM devices: Before using them, always check the keypad and card slot are intact. If you see anything suspicious sticking out of the slot or anything loose, do not finalise the purchase. 6. Act quickly if you notice fraud: Under RBI rules, you may find you have no liability if you report an unauthorised transaction within 3 working days. Put in a written complaint, freeze the card immediately and keep a copy. 7. If not solved, escalate: If your bank will not take any action or is delaying, then take all of the additional documentation to the RBI Ombudsman. The sooner you escalate, the sooner the resolution happens. Abhishek's quick thinking saved him from financial loss. But his story is a reminder that scams no longer come with red flags and broken English—they come dressed as customer service. So the next time someone calls to 'help' you activate your credit card, remember: help shouldn't ask for your OTP. For all personal finance updates, visit here.
