Macron, Al-Sisi, and King Abdullah II Meet in Cairo to Reinstate Gaza Ceasefire
Rabat – On the latest developments of leaders meeting about the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza, President Abledfattah Al-Sisi hosted a trilateral summit on Monday in Cairo that brought together both French President Emmanuel Macron, Jordanian King Abdullah II.
During the summit, the leaders called on the international community to push for an end to Israel's genocide in Gaza, reinstate the ceasefire and implement all its phases, and resume the flow of sufficient humanitarian aid to address the deepening crisis faced by Gazans.
Following the summit, the Egyptian presidency announced that 'the leaders called for an immediate return to the ceasefire, to protect Palestinians, and ensure that they receive urgent humanitarian aid immediately.'
Israel has been imposing a blockade on food and humanitarian aid entry to Gaza, adding to the already dire humanitarian catastrophe in the enclave.
For his part, King Abdullah II deplored how Israel's continued genocidal assaults on Gaza hamper all diplomatic and humanitarian efforts to bring the crisis to an end, while dragging the entire region into turmoil.
He also urged the need to work towards finding a political solution to achieve just and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution, which guarantees security and stability for Palestinians, Israelis, and the entire region.
The tripartite meeting stressed the need to follow 'a political path leading to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, with East Jerusalem as its capital, as well as lasting peace and security in the region and an end to the escalation of the conflict.'
The French president noted the importance of Jordan and Egypt's positions in supporting Palestinian rights and stressed France's readiness to do everything necessary to restore calm and reach a political settlement to the Palestinian issue.
A statement from the Elysee said that Macron arranged a phone call from Cairo with US President Donald Trump, Al-Sisi, and King Abdullah to discuss the ongoing situation in Gaza.

'President Macron initiated a call today [Monday] with President Trump, Egyptian President Abledfattah Al-Sisi, King Abdullah of Jordan to address the situation in Gaza,' the statement said, adding that the call revolved around finding urgent ways to secure a ceasefire in Gaza, the need for immediate full access for humanitarian aid delivery and the release of all hostages and prisoners.
The three leaders are reportedly going to keep in touch with Trump 'to remain in close coordination' to come out with a solution.
Meanwhile, Israel's Occupation Forces (IOF) continue to relentlessly bomb Gaza, killing six citizens at dawn on Tuesday in the Beit Lahia project in the northern Gaza Strip.
Since October 7, 2023, 50,752 fatalities have been recorded due to the Israeli genocidal onslaught, while 115,475 individuals have sustained injuries, according to local health authorities.
France's backing Arab plan to reconstruct Gaza
In regards to France, Macron backed the Arab-led plan to reconstruct Gaza, while rejecting any inclusion of Hamas in the authority.
The French President described the initiative as a platform that will offer a 'realistic path to the reconstruction of Gaza.'
Speaking of the US President's displacement plan, he firmly opposed any relocation of Gazans or annexation of Gaza or the West Bank, saying that 'this would be a violation of international law.'
However, he recalled that the Palestinian group Hamas must have no role in the future of Gaza future governance, and 'must no longer constitute a threat to Israel.'
Following Israel's resurgence of genocidal bombardment of the enclave, France 'for an immediate end to hostilities which compromise efforts to release the hostages and threaten the lives of Gaza's civilian population.'
