AT&T Has a New Affordable Senior Mobile Plan -- and Sorry, 55 Counts as a 'Senior'
AT&T has revealed its new phone plan for seniors, which offers mobile service at a discount for customers 55 years old and up. (Yes, Gen X, that's you -- or some of you, at least.) While the new plan only has the essentials, it's also cheaper than the carrier's feature-packed options. Even better, it's notably more affordable than AT&T's former senior plan. Carriers typically offer several plans to satisfy a range of customers, from the frugal to those that are willing to pay for every perk and bundled streaming service they can get. But plans targeting older Americans are often more bare-bones offerings, offered at lower prices to appeal to customers on fixed and limited incomes. AT&T's new AT&T 55 Plus plan is the most affordable it's offered in years. In exchange, the AT&T 55 Plus plan is pretty basic. For $40 per month for a single line (or $35 per month per line with two lines), you'll get unlimited voice calls, texting and data in the US, Canada and Mexico, and though AT&T's senior plan page indicates it has "5G access included," there's no clarity on which circumstances will enable high-speed data downloads and uploads on the senior plan. The plan also has 10GB of hotspot data per line per month, which is more generous than some other carrier offerings on our best senior plans list, along with a maximum 720p (SD) streaming speed for video. The plan also provides access to AT&T's free ActiveArmor app that blocks spam calls. Previously, AT&T offered a slightly discounted senior phone plan at $62 per month that was only available to customers living in Florida. Verizon retains a similar Florida-only senior plan. T-Mobile has several plans for seniors, from an older and basic Essentials Choice 55 plan starting at $45 per month up to Experience Beyond w/ 55 Plus starting at $85 per month and offering all the perks and extras of T-Mobile's other plans, including a five-year plan price guarantee, streaming services and satellite service beyond T-Mobile's network. AT&T is introducing a new affordable wireless plan to its list of offerings. This particular plan may be just what you're looking for if you're 55 or older. In a new blog post , AT&T announced the launch of a wireless plan called AT&T 55 Plus. For the price of $40 per month, customers who are 55 or older and are on this plan will get unlimited talk, text, and data in and between the US, Canada, and Mexico. This price drops down to $35 per month each if you add a second line. Additionally, you'll have access to 10GB of hotspot data and the carrier's cybersecurity suite (ActiveArmor) to stop spam and scams. This plan is also backed by the company's guarantee, which will give you a bill credit if you experience a 60-minute or longer wireless outage. On top of this offer, the company will also soon let you bundle your home internet into the deal. Jenifer Robertson, executive VP and GM of AT&T Mass Markets, states: This summer, new and existing AT&T wireless customers 55 and over will have the opportunity to bundle two wireless lines with our lightning-fast AT&T Fiber or our flexible AT&T Internet Air—all for under $100 According to the blog, bundling two lines with Internet 300 or Internet Air will cost you $99 per month. However, that's without taxes and fees included. Regardless, it sounds like a pretty decent deal that you or your parents may want to consider.

AT&T has just added a new plan to its Unlimited lineup. Unlike the main plans the US carrier offers, the newly introduced AT&T 55+ plans is tailored specifically for seniors. According to the carrier, AT&T 55+ was designed to meet the needs of 55+ customers, providing easy access to technology with the added security of ActiveArmor built in. AT&T ActiveArmor promises to give customers 24/7 protection. Included for free in the AT&T 55+ plans, ActiveArmor detects and prevents threats, but also features additional security apps and solutions designed to stop fraudsters in their tracks. Now, the juicy part is that the AT&T 55+ plan costs $40/month for one line or $35/month for two lines. The latter price is available after discounts with this specific plan and eligible Autopay & Paperless bill (taxes and fees extra). It's also important to mention that customers 55+ who opt for 2 wireless lines to get the discounted price will also be offered AT&T Internet 300 or Internet Air for a lower price.
