Adam Copeland Gives His Honest Opinion On John Cena's Heel Turn
How does Adam Copeland feel about his longtime rival John Cena turning heel? All Elite Wrestling's Adam Copeland was a recent guest on First Up with Korolnek & Colaiacovo. When asked for his thoughts on John Cena's recent heel turn, Cope said he didn't see it, so he's not sure how it went down, but believes the turn will be a good shot in the arm for the business. Advertisement 'I generally don't watch wrestling just because I'm burned out in terms…I think it's one of those deals when you're doing it, watching it can be all consuming and I told myself in coming back this time that I wasn't going to let it do that to me. I have a family and two kids,' Adam Copeland said. 'My downtime is spent with them or watching hockey as opposed to critiquing and pulling apart of wrestling shows. 'I get my clips from Instagram and I'll watch them there. I don't watch the full story. The follow throughs, and all the little beats here and there. I don't really know how it went, but a lot of people were talking about it. When you get a character that has been around for that long as a babyface, to turn, it's like when Hogan turned and joined the NWO. It's always a good shot in the arm for the business, for sure.' WWE files new trademark for ‘Adrenaline Drip'
WWE (Image via X) WWE fans always get excited when signs of something new start showing up behind the scenes. Recently, WWE made a move that has everyone talking. The company filed a trademark for the term 'Adrenaline Drip,' and while it is not clear what it will be used for yet, it sounds like something exciting is on the way. At the same time, WWE also brought back a trademark connected to its past. The name 'Edge,' once used by Hall of Famer Adam Copeland , has officially been revived. While Copeland now goes by Cope in AEW, WWE seems keen on keeping control of the name he made famous during his long WWE run. What could be the possible meaning of "Adrenaline Drip"? The trademark for 'Adrenaline Drip' was officially filed on May 1, 2025, with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. It was listed under entertainment services, which often includes character names, tag teams, or themes related to WWE programming. That suggests it's likely connected to a wrestler and not just a show title. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Turn $200 into Extra Income (CFD) TradeLG Undo The application was filed under Serial Number 99165267 with the USPTO on May 1, 2025, and is described as: 'Entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibitions and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer rendered live and through broadcast media including television and radio, and via the internet or commercial online service…' That description is a strong hint that this is more than just a background trademark. WWE has used similar descriptions in the past when creating names for wrestlers or groups. While no names have been attached to it yet, fans are already guessing it could be for a debuting superstar or a current talent getting a new direction. WWE has a history of building up new characters with powerful names, and 'Adrenaline Drip' definitely has a strong and energetic sound to it. The name alone creates interest, and the filing shows that WWE is thinking ahead. WWE also restored the "Edge" trademark some time ago Along with this new term, WWE also fixed a filing issue for one of its most legendary trademarks. The trademark for 'Edge' was marked abandoned in April 2025 after the company missed a response deadline. However, WWE quickly acted and submitted a revival notice to keep the name active. A Notice of Revival , dated May 1, 2025 states the following: 'The above-referenced application has been REVIVED and will be forwarded to the appropriate section of the Office for further action.' The Edge name is deeply connected to the history of WWE. Adam Copeland made it famous during his long career with the company before moving to AEW. Even though he now performs under a new name, WWE still values the brand that Edge represents. WWE often uses trademark filings as a way to protect its past and build its future. Whether it's to bring back a legacy name or prepare for something new, these filings matter in more ways than one. With 'Adrenaline Drip' on the horizon and 'Edge' back under the control of WWE, it is clear the company is staying active both behind the scenes and on-screen. These trademark filings are a peek into what might be coming next, and fans will be watching closely to see how it all unfolds. The schedule is far better than what it used to be. If you asked me to try and pull off over 200 days a year that I pulled before, there is absolutely no way because the recovery takes too long now. I'll have a match and it'll take me a good week to finally start walking normal. I've realized now, I'm 51 years old, I figure I have until maybe 53, the end of this contract, and then it's probably time to call it a day and get out while I can still limp away [laughs]. Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Adam Copeland, widely known as Cope (and formerly Edge in WWE), had previously given fans a timeframe for his eventual retirement. In April 2024, he estimated having about 18 months left as an active performer, pointing to a potential career conclusion near the end of 2025. However, based on his more recent comments, the landscape of his final run appears to have shifted. Speaking on TSN 150's First Up with Korolnek & Colaiacovo, Copeland provided an updated outlook on his retirement horizon. He revealed that his current expectation involves stepping away from the ring when his existing contract with All Elite Wrestling (AEW) ends, an event projected to occur around the time he celebrates his 53rd birthday. Elaborating on his decision-making process, Copeland highlighted the physical realities of performing at his age and the demanding nature of the profession, even with a more favourable schedule than in his past. "Not much longer. The schedule is far better than what it used to be. If you asked me to try and pull off over 200 days a year that I pulled before, there is absolutely no way because the recovery takes too long now. I'll have a match and it'll take me a good week to finally start walking normal. Lee South/AEW More news: WWE News: Steve Austin Reveals Real-Life Vince McMahon Confrontation This revised timeline pushes his potential retirement date further into the future than initially anticipated. Adam Copeland's 53rd birthday falls on October 30, 2026, suggesting his current AEW deal likely runs until approximately that period. Since making his impactful debut for All Elite Wrestling at WrestleDream in October 2023, shortly after concluding his long tenure with WWE, Copeland has been a prominent figure in the promotion. His current run is itself a remarkable chapter, following his forced retirement from 2011 to 2020 due to a career-threatening neck injury. It's possible that his perspective on retirement shifted partly due to unforeseen circumstances like a major injury. Copeland was sidelined for a significant part of 2024 after suffering a broken leg, leading him to extend his time in the ring to compensate for the missed period. Thus, fans can likely look forward to Cope's performances until late 2026. More WWE News: For more on WWE, head to Newsweek Sports.
