Adani Power Q1 Results: Cons PAT drops 15% YoY to Rs 3,305 crore; revenue down 6%
Adani Power on Friday reported its results for the quarter ended June 2025, posting a 15.5% year-on-year (YoY) decline in consolidated net profit at Rs 3,305 crore, compared to Rs 3,913 crore in the year-ago period. Meanwhile, the company's revenue also declined 5.9% YoY. Revenue from operations slipped to Rs 14,167 crore in the quarter under review, down from Rs 15,052 crore in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year. The company attributed the dip in profit to lower merchant tariff realization and elevated operating expenses following acquisitions, while the revenue decline was driven by year-on-year changes in imported coal prices. However, Adani Power stated that its consolidated profit after tax (PAT) for Q1 FY26 was 27.1% higher compared to Q4 FY25, supported by one-time income and sustained EBITDA on a sequential basis. The company's consolidated continuing EBITDA for Q1 FY26 stood at Rs 5,744 crore, down from Rs 6,290 crore in Q1 FY25, due to lower revenue and higher operating expenses arising from recent acquisitions on a year-on-year basis. Live Events However, EBITDA for Q1 FY26 was 12.7% higher compared to the previous quarter. In Q1FY26, the company reported a 15% YoY increase in installed capacity, which rose to 17,550 MW from 15,250 MW in Q1FY25. However, the Plant Load Factor (PLF) declined to 67%, down from 78% in the same quarter last year, indicating a reduction in operational efficiency. Despite the lower PLF, units sold increased slightly on a year-on-year basis, rising to 24.6 billion units from 24.2 billion units in Q1FY25. Adani Power also noted that power demand in Q1FY26 was impacted by an early monsoon, in contrast to the surge seen in Q1FY25 due to a heatwave. As a result, all-India energy demand declined by 1.6% to 445.2 BU in Q1FY26, compared to 452.4 BU in Q1FY25. Peak demand also dropped 2.8% to 243 GW from 250 GW, affecting merchant demand and tariffs. Peak demand for Q1 FY26 was also lower by 2.8% at 243 GW compared to 250 GW in Q1 FY25, affecting merchant demand and tariffs. As a result of variability in demand and weather conditions, the average market-clearing price on the Indian Energy Exchange declined by 16% year-on-year (YoY) to Rs 4.41/kWh in Q1FY26, compared to Q1FY25. Day Ahead Market volumes also fell 7% to 12,399 MU during this period. Despite the slowdown in energy demand, Adani Power Ltd (APL) registered a 1.6% growth in power sales, driven by increased operating capacity and higher offtake at select plants. The company continues to maintain a strong balance sheet and sound liquidity. Total debt outstanding as of June 30, 2025, stood at Rs 44,372 crore, up from Rs 38,335 crore as of March 31, 2025. Net debt for the same dates stood at Rs 37,437 crore and Rs 31,023 crore, respectively. The increase in debt was attributed to bridge financing for capital expenditure and working capital borrowings in line with the company's expanded scale of operations. In addition to announcing Q1FY26 results, the company also approved a 1:5 stock split for shareholders. Following the results, shares of Adani Power were trading 1% lower at Rs 581.45 on BSE.
