Advance Metals to chase further visible gold at Victorian play

Advance Metals is charging ahead at its high-grade Myrtleford gold project in Victoria's goldfields, with regulatory approvals now secured to kick off an expanded 10-hole diamond drilling campaign across its Happy Valley Trend. Following a highly successful maiden drilling program earlier this year, Advance has received the green light under a low-impact exploration notification to recommence drilling at three key sites along the 6-kilometre Happy Valley Trend. The additional 10-hole program, set to kick off next week, will see six diamond holes plunged into Advance's Happy Valley ground to target extensions to the high-grade mineralisation intersected in the company's first four holes at the prospect. First-pass results delivered stunning gold intercepts, including an 8.2-metre hit running a stunning 22.4 grams per tonne (g/t) gold, with a meaty 3.2m portion grading 54.7g/t, a bonanza 7.5m grading 47.9g/t and a respectable 6.1m slice at 3.5g/t. Two maiden diamond holes will test the nearby Sheard's Reef prospect, 1.5km west-northwest of Happy Valley. The remaining two holes will target high-grade gold 4.5km to the east-southeast at the company's Queen of the Hills prospect, aiming to extend drilling across a 6km section of the Happy Valley trend within the Myrtleford project. Advance says site preparation is already underway, with the drilling contractor set to mobilise within the next 7-10 days, putting drilling on track to commence in mid-June. The company recently inked a binding agreement over the 418-square-kilometre Myrtleford project with Serra Energy Metals Corporation to acquire an 80 per cent stake. The project lies within the Lachlan Fold Belt, a geological powerhouse responsible for some of Australia's largest gold deposits, including the 22-million-ounce Bendigo goldfields and the high-grade Fosterville mine, Australia's lowest-cost pure gold mine. Advance's string of impressive results confirms an extraordinary historically reported hit of 11.5m at 160.4g/t gold by a former project owner, which included a jaw-dropping 0.6m at 2430g/t.

Why Advance Auto Parts Stock Accelerated Nearly 5% Higher Today

An analyst changed his recommendation on the retailer for the better. That doesn't exactly make him a bull on the company, however. 10 stocks we like better than Advance Auto Parts › An analyst upgrade was the foot on Advance Auto Parts (NYSE: AAP) stock's gas pedal on Tuesday. The company's shares motored nearly 5% higher in price as a result, speeding well past the benchmark S&P 500 index's 0.6% increase. The pundit behind the change was Sam Hudson of U.K.-based Redburn Atlantic. He shifted his recommendation to neutral from his previous sell and lifted his Advance price target. This is now $45 per share, well up from Hudson's previous fair value estimation of $28. According to reports, while the analyst remains concerned about the sluggishness of management's efforts to turn around the company's fortunes, it should benefit from improving conditions in the auto parts market. Late last month, an article in The Wall Street Journal indicated that demand was rising for used vehicles, largely because of the sweeping tariffs introduced by the Trump administration. In fact, the article stated, inventory at used car dealerships dropped to levels unseen since the pandemic earlier this decade. All things being equal, higher sales of used cars result in brisker take-up of the components required to keep them running, hence a better environment for parts retailers like Advance. While that's an encouraging development for Advance and its auto retail peers, I'm not sure that would sell me on the company's stock. Retail is tough in any segment, let alone the auto industry, and I don't feel we're in front of a long-tail surge in car sales, used or otherwise. Personally, then, I'd let Advance stock drive on by without purchasing it. Balloon rides at ancient burial mounds in Sakai get nod

An image that the Sakai municipal government released in 2023 (Provided by Sakai municipal government) SAKAI, Osaka Prefecture--City authorities gave the go-ahead for trial balloon rides at ancient burial grounds here from early October. The area features the Mozu-Furuichi Kofun Group, a cluster of fifth century 'kofun' burial mounds designated as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site. Trial balloon rides using helium gas were initially scheduled to get off the ground in spring 2023 but suspended due to a leak. Authorities here plan to use Daisen Park in the city's Sakai Ward as the launch site. The moored balloon will use helium gas for buoyancy to stay 100 meters above the ground. It will be tethered to the ground by cables and raised or lowered by mechanical equipment. Authorities will make an environmental impact assessment of the flights during the first year. If no problems arise, rides will continue for another six years. The fare for adults is expected to be around 4,000 yen ($28), but the amount will likely vary depending on whether the passenger is a Sakai resident, a domestic resident outside the city or a foreign resident/visitor. Details will be finalized later. Around 60,000 people are expected to take balloon rides annually. The operating company, Advance, is based in Toyooka, Hyogo Prefecture. Initial plans called for using a British-made balloon in May 2023, but the project was halted just before flights started after helium gas was found to be leaking from the balloon. The cause of the problem was not identified, and the British manufacturer later went into liquidation. As a result, authorities switched to a French manufacturer. Six years have passed since the plan was first announced. 'Safety and security are our top priorities and we want to get started,' Sakai Mayor Hideki Nagafuji told reporters. 'I believe the rides will lead to people rediscovering the charms of the Mozu-Furuichi Kofun Group.' The area includes the 486-meter-long Daisen Kofun tumulus that is thought to be the final resting place of fifth century Emperor Nintoku. The keyhole-shaped moated mound is the biggest memorial of its kind in Japan and cannot be seen in its entirety from the ground. For this reason, Nagafuji announced in 2019, when the site was registered as a World Heritage Site, that the city would set up balloon flights.
