Bokaro: A major tragedy was averted on the third Monday of Sawan in district when three youths jumped into the swollen Damodar River near near Telmouchu Bridge while making video reels. Amidst heavy rain, the river's current was dangerously strong, as thousands of Kanwar Yatra devotees had gathered to collect water for Jalabhishek at Chirka Dham situated far at Jharkhand-West Bengal Border in Purulia district. Suddenly, chaos erupted when the youths began to be swept away. Two of them managed to reach the riverbank and were rescued by alert divers. The third youth was carried far but was saved in time. The district administration, anticipating the risk, had deployed professional divers at the ghats. DC Bokaro Ajay Nath Jha has now been issued an alert, urging people to stay away from the river due to the rising water level.

Bokaro: The sub-divisional officer (SDO) of Bermo visited the family of Ganesh Karmali, a migrant worker killed in a terror attack in Niger, Western Africa, offering food supplies and Rs 10,000 aid, following the directive of Bokaro deputy commissioner (DC) Ajay Nath Jha. "As part of immediate relief, the administration provided the family with two sacks of rice, 20 kg of flour, pulses, salt, a sack of potatoes, and Rs 10,000 in cash. We also reviewed the family's economic condition and directed officials to ensure swift assistance," said the DC. The district administration has reiterated its commitment to standing by the victim's family during this difficult time.

1 2 Bokaro: In a move to fast-track Bokaro airport's operation, deputy commissioner DC Ajay Nath Jha on Thursday chaired a crucial meeting at his office with senior officials of the Airport Authority of India (AAI), Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL), forest, health and administrative officials. Jha stressed that operationalising the airport is among the top priorities of the state govt and urged all departments to treat it with urgency. He instructed every department to outline their tasks and report progress within 15 days. To enhance surveillance, the DC directed district forest officer (DFO) Rajneesh Kumar to begin watchtower construction atop Satanpur Hill by month-end. BSL was asked to coordinate with relevant departments to build 10 watchtowers per security norms. Expressing concern over possible encroachment near the airport, Jha instructed BSL to coordinate and run a special encroachment clearance campaign next month to ensure safety and unhindered operations. He also stressed on maintaining regular cleanliness at the airport. Jha asked BSL to streamline and secure entry-exit routes by identifying critical access points. The DC also approved the procurement of two ambulances with four stretchers from the DMFT fund and directed the civil surgeon to ensure dual stretcher capacity in all district ambulances.

Bokaro/Ranchi: To empower displaced youths, BSL and the district administration are planning to launch free coaching and career guidance initiatives by August 15. A meeting in this regard was jointly chaired by Bokaro DC Ajay Nath Jha and BSL's director in-charge B K Tiwary in presence of other authorities on Saturday to chalk out the road map. The meet's focus was on the welfare of displaced families and law and order issues linked to BSL operations. One of the key agenda items was providing coaching for displaced youth to help them prepare for opportunities in SAIL, BCCL, CCL, banks, and other institutions. The DC has also issued instructions for a socio-economic survey of displaced families to help include them in relevant schemes. Meanwhile, NTPC Mining Limited's Pakri Barwadih Coal Mining Project also rolled out Tarang, a free IIT-JEE and NEET coaching for meritorious students from project affected rural areas under its corporate social responsibility initiative. "This programme aims to empower students from remote villages who often miss out on quality education due to lack of guidance and financial constraints," NTPC stated
