SP: Use of police force to stop PDA pathshalas won't work
1 2 Lucknow: Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday said using police force to stop PDA pathshalas being organised by his party cadre will not work and asked the UP CM to visit these pathshalas for a first-hand stock of the ground realities. Akhilesh's reaction came in response to FIRs lodged against SP cadres for holding PDA pathshalas in UP villages where govt primary schools have been shut or paired by the UP govt. "PDA pathshala police se rukne wali nahi hai (Using police to stop PDA Pathshala will not work) Akhilesh said. SP volunteers will continue with the PDA pathshalas and tuitions until govt sends teachers to the schools that have been shut or paired, Akhilesh told reporters at Janeshwar Mishra Park in Lucknow — where he paid floral tributes to the socialist leader on his birth anniversary on Tuesday. Earlier SP chief had accused govt of closing 26,012 govt primary schools and pairing another 5,000 schools. He described it as a design to deprive the PDA community of their right to education. He had called retired teachers and graduate volunteers from among SP cadres to hold PDA pathshalas in villages where schools have been closed. Recently FIRs were lodged against some individuals running PDA pathshalas for illegally entering closed school campuses. He said govt has already accepted that schools have been shut and paired and thereby have accepted that their decision was wrong. He said if govt was reconsidering to recall its earlier decision, then all primary schools that have been shut, must be reopened. 'BJP netas have encroached wetlands' Lucknow: Accusing BJP functionaries of having usurped ponds in every UP district, Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday said govt can conduct a verification of land registries to confirm his charge. "They (BJP netas) have not spared a single pond. All wetlands have been usurped by them. Anyone can get the land registry documents from Ayodhya, Varanasi and Lucknow and verify this, he said. He said BJP has machines to print fake voter identity and Aadhaar cards and cited an incident that happened in Gursahaiganj during the elections for chairman of town area. "The BJP men connived with the police and the district magistrate to set up a machine to print fake Aadhaar cards. When they were intercepted, they fled leaving behind stacks of fake Aadhaar cards. Some of them are with us even till date," Akhilesh said.

Govt has failed to offer relief to flood victims: Akhilesh
Lucknow: Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav on Monday said even as two dozen districts – including Prayagraj and Varanasi – were hit by floods, the BJP govt has failed to extend relief to people in the affected areas. "When the UP BJP can organise public meetings and rallies for the 'super VVIP', why isn't it conducting relief and rescue operations in flood hit regions of the state," Akhilesh said, adding that the situation was 'concerning' in Prayagraj and Varanasi where people were using boats to commute through lanes and bylanes in residential localities which were inundated in flood waters. The former UP CM said there was an acute shortage of food and clean drinking water for people stranded in flood-hit areas. "Sick people, particularly children, pregnant women and senior citizens, are not getting proper medicines as health services have come to a standstill. There is no power supply in localities facing floods which has only added to the crisis," Akhilesh said. He further said: "More than Rs 20,000 crore each were spent in Prayagraj and Varanasi in the name of Smart City projects but the flood situation in both the districts has not changed. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like American Investor Warren Buffett Recommends: 5 Books For Turning Your Life Around Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo The roads are filled with potholes and rainwater in the two districts," he said. People are unable to perform the last rites of their loved ones because the cremation grounds are inundated, Akhilesh said. "Despite such a crisis, what has left the common man more agitated is that the govt officials responsible for relief operations are more focussed on getting their photographs clicked distributing relief material rather than helping the needy," Akhilesh said. He said there was a serious threat of outbreak of infectious diseases but there seem to be no plan to tackle such situation. He said floodwaters have entered shops and business establishments as well as farm fields leading to heavy financial and crops losses. 'SP TV' launched Lucknow: Samajwadi Party has launched its YouTube channel – 'SP TV' – which will play messages and statements of party president Akhilesh Yadav in the form of a news bulletin every evening. The news bulletin will be presented by party functionary Naved Siddiqui who has earlier given voice over to several hit campaigns of the party during elections.

Imposter in SI uniform caught aboard Guruvayur Express
T'puram: A young man posing as a sub-inspector (SI) was arrested by railway police after his overly polished appearance in official uniform raised suspicions. The accused, Akhilesh, a native of Kalliyoor, Thiruvananthapuram, was nabbed while travelling on the Chennai Egmore–Guruvayur Express on Saturday morning. Akhilesh, dressed in what appeared to be a spotless and well-fitted SI uniform, was noticed by on-duty officers and members of DanSaf squad—a special railway safety team. The officers found his appearance unusually meticulous, prompting closer scrutiny. Ironically, it was the 'excessive neatness and sharpness' of the uniform, something rarely seen among real officers on duty, that triggered the doubts. Upon questioning, Akhilesh failed to give convincing answers and attempted to dodge inquiries. This behaviour deepened suspicions and officials soon confirmed that he was impersonating a police officer. Further interrogation led to a full confession, though the motive behind the impersonation remains unclear. Police are now investigating whether Akhilesh wore the SI uniform to commit fraud or simply as a prank or personal thrill. Railway police registered his arrest and he was handed over to Alappuzha RPF (Railway Protection Force) for further legal proceedings and detailed investigation. Police have not ruled out the possibility of prior offences or attempts to misuse the uniform to deceive public. Investigators are checking if Akhilesh tried to gain unauthorised access or favours during the journey or at railway stations by posing as an officer. Officials have also launched a probe into how he acquired the uniform and whether others were involved. "Misusing the police uniform is a serious offence that undermines public trust and could be used for unlawful gains," a senior RPF officer said. This incident raised fresh concerns over security protocols and the ease with which individuals can impersonate uniformed personnel on public transport. Police urged passengers to remain alert and report any suspicious activity, especially involving impersonation of officials. Railway police assured a thorough investigation into the case. Further charges may be added depending on the outcome of the inquiry into Akhilesh's intentions. BJP govt's ‘Swadeshi' call mere rhetoric: Akhilesh
1 2 Lucknow: Taking on the BJP-led govt at the Centre for its call to promote 'Swadeshi' products, Samajwadi Party national president Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday described it as mere 'jumla' (rhetoric) and accused the BJP of touring the world to request countries to enter into trade agreements. "BJP ka swadeshi bhi ek jumla hai (BJP's call for Swadeshi is only rhetoric)," Akhilesh said, adding that in India the BJP is calling upon people to use Indian products while BJP delegations are touring the world urging for trade agreements. "If the BJP had the right intentions, it would never have had 'jhoola' (swing) moments and had not gifted gold chains to those who chained our countrymen," he said. Akhilesh's 'jhula' jibe was in apparent reference to the 2014 visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping and the First Lady who, accompanied by PM Modi during their visit to Gujarat, sat on a swing for a photo op. Similarly, his charge of Indians being chained is being seen in the light of recent deportations by the US where Indians were sent back handcuffed and chained to each other. The SP chief made the comments a day after the PM, during his address in Varanasi on Saturday, called upon the people to use products manufactured in India. The call came at a time when India is involved in a tariff war with the Donald Trump govt in the US which has imposed a tariff of 25% on Indian goods. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like NRIs Living In Estonia Are Eligible For INR 2 Lakh Monthly Pension. 'Even British didn't slap FIRs for edu' Lucknow: Taking exception to Pratapgarh district administration lodging an FIR against Samajwadi Party MLA and others for organising a 'PDA Pathshala' on a school campus that was lying locked, party president Akhilesh Yadav described the move as something that did not happen during even the British rule in India. SP functionaries are organising PDA Pathshalas in protest against state govt's move to merge schools which have low enrolment following a call from the party president urging retired teachers and educated youths to impart education to children in villages where schools have been shut. There were allegations that SP MLA from Pratapgarh RK Verma entered a closed school in unauthorised manner to hold a PDA Pathshala for which an FIR was lodged. SP functionary booked for teaching ‘A for Akhilesh' in ‘PDA pathshala'
Lucknow: A case was registered against Samajwadi Party (SP) functionary Farhad Alam for allegedly operating an illegal 'PDA Pathshala' (school) in Saharanpur and teaching children political slogans in place of standard educational content. The FIR, filed at Dehat Kotwali police station, came after a complaint was lodged by a local youth, Maan Singh. According to the complaint, children at the school were being taught "A for Akhilesh", "D for Dimple Yadav" and "M for Mulayam Singh Yadav". These references to SP leaders sparked public outrage and hurt sentiments, leading to accusations of politicising education. The controversy erupted just days after the Yogi Adityanath govt faced criticism over proposed school mergers, which were later rolled back. Seizing the opportunity, Farhad Gada claimed he was educating children who were at home due to school closures. However, investigation revealed that the children seen in the viral video were brought in from a private school and were never affected by any school shutdowns. Gada transformed his residence in Ramnagar village into the so-called 'PDA Pathshala' and released a video showing uniformed children reciting politically charged alphabets. He defended his actions, saying, "Just as convent schools have their own curriculum, our PDA Pathshala introduces children to socialist ideology. We teach A for Akhilesh, D for Dimple, B for Babasaheb, and M for Mulayam." He further claimed he intended to take the model across Saharanpur district, targeting villages with reportedly shut govt schools. However, before he could expand his initiative, an FIR was filed against him. Saharanpur SP City Vyom Bindal said, "Based on the complaint received, we have booked the accused for running an illegal school and teaching inappropriate material to children. The matter is under investigation, and appropriate action will be taken following due legal process." Farhad has been booked under BNS section 353 (2) (promote enmity, hatred, or ill will between different groups) and under ST/SC Act.
