Islam doesn't teach us to pray for other Muslims' ruin, says Dr Akmal
SHAH ALAM: Praying for the destruction of fellow Muslims over political differences is inappropriate and contrary to Islamic teachings, says Datuk Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh ( pic ). The Umno Youth chief emphasised that although differing views in politics are common, Islam never teaches its followers to insult each other, let alone pray for the ruin of fellow Muslims, Sinar Harian reported. "Some recite the Qunut Nazilah prayer for the destruction of certain individuals, even if they are fellow Muslims. "Others compare them to monkeys and foreign leaders to other animals, while the discussions are actually aimed at saving thousands of lives due to the war between two countries. "Differing opinions are normal, being angry at political opponents is normal too, but Islam does not teach us to pray for the destruction of fellow Muslims or to insult others," the Malay language daily quoted him as saying in a statement on Facebook on Tuesday (July 29). Dr Akmal also said that differences in opinion should be based on facts, not immature emotions that ultimately incite baseless hatred within the community. He explained that narrow-minded political approaches that undermine intellect will only worsen the public's perception of the political institution itself. "If some say that those on the other side have done the same thing before, I respond, if people in the past ate filth, should we do the same? Certainly not, because we know it's dirty. "I have no intention of being a sycophant, let alone a 'walanon'. "There are also things I disagree with, but if something is right, we should praise it, and if it's wrong, we should criticise it," he added. His Facebook post included a picture of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet and Thailand's acting Prime Minister Phumtham Wechayachai. He further said that people today desire mature, constructive politics, not narrow politics of hatred that alienate society from noble values. "We need to realise that if we can't do good, we shouldn't prevent others from doing good. "If politicians continue with the old style of narrow politics, don't be surprised if the public becomes increasingly fed up and resentful of politics," he further remarked. He also emphasized that he was neither a "walaun" nor a "walanon", and has no interest in becoming one, but is merely expressing his sentiments to prevent Islam from being slandered due to the irresponsible attitude of a few.

Melaka to introduce QR code tags for livestock in 2026
MELAKA: The Melaka government will roll out QR code tags for livestock in 2026 to enhance tracking and reduce accidents caused by stray animals. State Rural Development, Agriculture and Food Security Committee chairman Datuk Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh announced the initiative today at the Melaka State Legislative Assembly. The system will primarily target cattle and buffaloes, allowing authorities to identify owners of animals that wander onto roads and pose risks to motorists. Dr Akmal said manual ear tagging will begin this August as a preliminary step before the digital system is implemented. 'Once in place, this system will allow enforcement action against owners whose animals cause accidents, injuries or fatalities,' he said. The QR code tags will be integrated with Melaka's Digital Village Initiative to create a centralised livestock database. Farmers will undergo training and register their animals with the Department of Veterinary Services (JPV). Responding to concerns about counterfeiting, Dr Akmal assured that each tag will have a unique serial number to prevent duplication. 'If the animal is sold, the owner must notify JPV to update ownership and issue a new QR code,' he added. - Bernama

Melaka To Roll Out QR Code Tags For Livestock In 2026
MELAKA, July 22 (Bernama) -- The Melaka government will begin implementing QR code tags for livestock next year to track ownership and curb road accidents caused by free-roaming animals, State Rural Development, Agriculture and Food Security Committee chairman Datuk Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh said today. The system, primarily targeting cattle and buffaloes, will enable authorities to identify owners of animals that stray onto public roads and endanger motorists. Dr Akmal said the state will first mandate manual ear tagging of livestock starting this August, ahead of the digital rollout. 'Once in place, this system will allow enforcement action against owners whose animals cause accidents, injuries or fatalities,' he told the Melaka State Legislative Assembly at Seri Negeri. He was responding to a question from Datuk Khaidhirah Abu Zahar (BN–Rim) on the status of digital identification systems for stray livestock. Dr Akmal said the QR code system will be integrated with Melaka's Digital Village Initiative to create a centralised livestock database. Farmers will be given time to complete training and register their animals with the Department of Veterinary Services (JPV) before implementation. Responding to a follow-up by Datuk Seri Sulaiman Md Ali (BN–Lendu) on the risk of counterfeiting, he said each tag would carry a unique serial number, making duplication difficult. 'If the animal is sold, the owner must notify JPV to update ownership and issue a new QR code,' he added. -- BERNAMA

Illegal miners exploit Bitcoin surge, putting lives and property at risk
ALOR STAR: Driven by greed and emboldened by soaring Bitcoin prices, illegal mining syndicates are putting lives at risk with total disregard for public safety, operating right above clinics, workshops and grocery stores. Energy Transition and Water Transformation Deputy Minister Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir said the cryptocurrency's value, now exceeding RM500,000 per coin, has spurred criminal groups to act with increasing recklessness. "This isn't happening in remote areas. They're not only risking financial loss through our seizures and raids on their operations but are also endangering lives by creating serious fire hazards," he said after a joint enforcement operation involving Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), the Energy Commission (ST) and the police today. Akmal cited raids at two premises today as examples, where illegal Bitcoin mining operations were found above occupied commercial units. "They had modified existing electrical systems, including replacing fuses and boosting the supply capacity from 200 amperes (A) to 400A. This is a dangerous setup that poses a major fire risk to surrounding users. "One premises had a clinic and a grocery shop on the ground floor. Another was above a workshop. These are legitimate businesses run by people trying to earn an honest living, but now they're unknowingly exposed to significant danger," he said. He added that the syndicates have also grown increasingly sophisticated and stubborn. One of the premises raided today, he said, had been targeted multiple times before, with today's action marking the ninth raid since 2023. "They had installed layers of steel doors to delay enforcement entry. In fact, it required assistance from the Fire and Rescue Department just to break in. "Some syndicates even used audio decoys, such as bird sounds, to mask the constant hum of the machines," he added. Such persistence, Akmal said, stressed the need for tighter inter-agency collaboration and stronger enforcement tools. Meanwhile, checks at a nearby business found that operators were completely unaware of the syndicate's activities. A woman working at a grocery store near one of the raided units said she had occasionally noticed suspicious individuals entering the premises about two years ago but had never interacted with them. "There were no visible signs from the outside. It looked empty, and we would occasionally hear bird sounds coming from within," she said, adding that she was now concerned about the potential fire hazards.

M'sian Comic Artist Akmal 'Kucha' Aziz Shares About The Time He Met MCR's Gerard Way
Not anyone can say that they met a global superstar by chance – but this Malaysian can! Local comic artist and animator Akmal 'Kucha' Aziz recently dropped a 'lore' about himself involving My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way! Earlier this week, Twitter users have been sharing interesting anecdotes about themselves as part of a Twitter trend. Akmal jumped on the bandwagon, sharing an interesting anecdote about himself from San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) 2012. According to the director of 'Didi And Friends The Movie', the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) has sponsored him and a few other Malaysian comic artists to attend the event. While at SDCC, the group set up a booth, sold comics, attended panels and networked. However, on one of the days they were there, the group saw a familiar face sitting alone in the lounge area. After Googling the individual on the search engine, the group confirmed that the familiar face was none other than My Chemical Romance co-founder and frontman Gerard Way. As the group greeted him, the singer invited them to sit and chat. Akmal also shared a photo he took with Gerard at the event. Responding to comments, the Malaysian revealed what the group chatted about with the singer. The comic artist explained that Gerard was at SDCC to promote his two comic book series, 'The Umbrella Academy' and 'The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys'. During the same event, the musician also held a signing for 'Killjoys', which he recently released. Gerard also had an excited response when the group revealed that they were from Malaysia, saying that MCR once performed in Kuala Lumpur. Many local netizens have since reacted to Akmal's anecdote, mostly expressing shock at the casual meeting. Some also expressed envy towards Akmal and the group of Malaysians, noting that the moment was a rare chance. Others also took the opportunity to share some MCR-themed puns. We also agree with the rest that Akmal's meeting with Gerard Way was enviable, to say the least. Perhaps the group of local comic artists can have a reunion with the star when he returns to Malaysia next April for MCR's concert in KL. Source: Twitter
