Shiv Shakti Actor Akshay Nalwade on his creative boundaries; says ‘I'm not comfortable taking up roles in bold content-driven projects'
Shiv Shakti: Tap Tyag Tandav actor Akshay Nalwade, currently seen playing Garud Dev in the popular mythological drama, believes in choosing work that upholds dignity and purpose. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The actor, known for his clear approach to career choices, revealed that he never hesitates to turn down roles that don't align with his values. 'I have turned down roles. Although I rarely say no to projects, I'm not comfortable taking up roles in bold content-driven projects. I'm a family-oriented person, and I want to be known for quality work and good content,' he stated firmly. Akshay shared that every role he accepts must pass through what he calls an 'ethical filter.' He explained, 'First, I assess whether the role respects human dignity—not just for my character, but for the overall narrative. I avoid roles that promote harmful stereotypes, unnecessary objectification, or glorify violence.' His boundaries are equally firm when it comes to physical exposure or intimate scenes. 'I respect my boundaries—creatively, ethically, and emotionally—because I believe that's what makes me a more authentic and responsible performer,' Akshay shared. Talking about his working style, he emphasized his collaborative approach. 'I always follow a principle: I discuss my perspective with the director and crew. Based on that conversation, I play the character as directed. I believe in working as per the director's vision. I do offer my inputs, but ultimately, I follow the captain's call,' he explained. When asked about his thoughts on women-centric roles, Akshay acknowledged the positive change. 'Films like Kahaani, Mardaani, Raazi, Queen, Tumhari Sulu, and Gangubai have portrayed women as decision-makers, fighters, survivors, and leaders. These characters are no longer one-dimensional—there's real depth,' he said. 'I do believe there's been a visible shift away from stereotypical portrayals of women as just love interests or homemakers,' Akshay concluded.

Akshay Kumar snaps at fan in London for secretly filming him, video goes viral
Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar lost his cool in London after spotting a fan secretly recording him on a public street. In a rare moment of visible anger, the Bollywood star confronted the man, tried to snatch his phone, and asked him to stop following him. The incident, which unfolded on Oxford Street, was caught on camera and, ironically, has now gone viral. Wearing a grey tank top, shorts, and a beanie, Akshay was out for a quiet walk when the fan began trailing him with a phone camera. The actor, usually known for his calm demeanour, turned around sharply, grabbed the phone, and told the man to back off. Despite the tension, the clip ends on a surprising note. Akshay eventually takes a selfie with the same fan, possibly after tempers cooled. The video has taken social media by storm, with several internet users calling out the fan for filming without permission. "He's on a break, let him breathe. Everyone deserves a no-camera moment," a user wrote. 'Why invade someone's personal space like this? Being famous doesn't make it okay,' another added. Akshay has not commented on the incident, but the viral clip has reignited a conversation around celebrity boundaries and the increasingly blurred line between public life and personal space. Professionally, Akshay is booked and busy. Up next is Priyadarshan's horror-comedy Bhooth Bangla with Wamiqa Gabbi and Paresh Rawal. He's also back for the long-awaited Hera Pheri 3, and headlines Welcome To The Jungle, an ensemble film featuring more than 15 actors. Also on his slate: Jolly LLB 3, and the ambitious sci-fi thriller Haiwaan, which reunites him with Saif Ali Khan after 17 years.

Youth electrocuted after bike hits fallen power post
1 2 T'puram: A 19-year-old youth was electrocuted after his bike hit a fallen electric post in Nedumangad on Saturday night. The deceased Akshay Suresh, a native of Panayamuttom, was a third-year degree student. Nedumangad police registered a case under Section 174 (Unnatural death) of CrPC and began a probe. Police said a tree fell onto an electric post, causing the wire to snap and fall across the road. According to police, the fatal incident occurred around 11.30pm, as Akshay and friends were returning home on his motorcycle after completing a catering job. The accident happened when a rubber tree, reportedly uprooted due to heavy rain and wind, fell onto an electric post, causing the post and live wires to collapse onto the road, police said. Unaware of the danger ahead, the bike ridden by Akshay hit the fallen post. According to preliminary police reports, Akshay died instantly after coming into contact with the live wire. His friends, Vinod and Amalnath, were injured and are under treatment. Eyewitnesses and locals alleged that the post was old and in a severely corroded condition, questioning whether poor infrastructure contributed to the tragedy. "The post was standing in a dangerously deteriorated state for years," a local claimed. Akshay's body was kept at Nedumangad district hospital and later shifted to Thiruvananthapuram medical college for a post-mortem examination. The body was handed over to relatives on Sunday evening. The police began a detailed investigation into the incident, while local authorities are expected to respond to growing public concerns over the condition of utility infrastructure in the area. The police also directed that the trees and electric posts that pose danger to pedestrians and motorists should be removed. A meeting was also called by the police with the locals and elected representatives on Monday.
