Egypt Welcomes Election of Sidi Ould Tah as African Development Bank President

H-Tayea Rania A. Al-Mashat, Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation of Egypt, extended her warm congratulations to H.E. Dr. Sidi Ould Tah on his election as the new President of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group. The election took place during the Bank's Annual Meetings in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire, marking the beginning of Dr. Ould Tah's five-year term at the helm of Africa's premier development finance institution. The Minister welcomed the appointment, describing it as timely and significant for the continent. 'We wish the AfDB President success in supporting Africa's development journey, which is undergoing a crucial phase,' she stated. Dr. Ould Tah, a seasoned Mauritanian economist with over 35 years of experience in African and international finance, was elected by the Bank's Board of Governors — comprising Ministers of Finance and Central Bank Governors from the AfDB's 81 regional and non-regional member countries. H.E. Dr. Al-Mashat emphasized that Dr. Ould Tah assumes leadership of the Bank at a time of mounting challenges for Africa, including the ongoing impacts of climate change, global economic volatility, and the growing pressures on multilateralism amid protectionist global trade trends. She expressed full confidence in his ability to steer the Bank forward and contribute to the realization of the African Union's Agenda 2063 and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Highlighting his decade-long leadership of the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA), Dr. Al-Mashat noted the significant achievements under Dr. Ould Tah's tenure. These included quadrupling BADEA's balance sheet, achieving top-tier credit ratings — including an Aa1 rating from Moody's and AAA from Japan's JCR — and advancing strategic development initiatives in food security, energy transition, and infrastructure. The Minister also voiced Egypt's commitment to deepening its partnership with the African Development Bank Group in the coming period. 'We look forward to strengthening cooperation with the AfDB to support our national development priorities and to empower the private sector, especially as we focus on resilience and sustainable growth,' she said. In her remarks, Dr. Al-Mashat extended appreciation to outgoing President Dr. Akinwumi Adesina for his decade of service (2015–2025), during which the AfDB significantly expanded its footprint across Africa, including deepening collaboration with Egypt on infrastructure, energy, and policy support. The African Development Bank Group consists of three entities: the African Development Bank (AfDB), the African Development Fund (ADF), and the Nigeria Trust Fund (NTF). The Group comprises 81 member countries, including 54 African regional and 27 non-regional member states. With this new chapter under Dr. Ould Tah's leadership, Egypt reaffirms its commitment to supporting Africa's development vision and enhancing its active role in international financial cooperation frameworks. read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia News Australia Fines Telegram $600,000 Over Terrorism, Child Abuse Content Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Sports Neymar Announced for Brazil's Preliminary List for 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers News Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly Inaugurates Two Indian Companies Arts & Culture New Archaeological Discovery from 26th Dynasty Uncovered in Karnak Temple Business Fear & Greed Index Plummets to Lowest Level Ever Recorded amid Global Trade War Arts & Culture Zahi Hawass: Claims of Columns Beneath the Pyramid of Khafre Are Lies News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks News Shell Unveils Cost-Cutting, LNG Growth Plan

Al-Mashat Interview Panel for "Women Lead for Executives" Program at NTA

Israa Farhan Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation, chaired one of the interview panels on Thursday for applicants to the 'Women Lead for Executives' program, organized by the National Training Academy (NTA) in partnership with the Ministry. This initiative is part of national efforts to qualify women for leadership roles and promote their economic, social, and political empowerment. Dr. Al-Mashat emphasized the importance of the 'Women Lead for Executives' program, which is one of the distinguished training programs provided by the NTA in cooperation with the Ministry of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation. The program targets women in executive positions across various institutions, ranging in age from 22 to 50. She noted that with every round of interviews, she witnesses the advancement in the caliber of applicants and their eagerness to acquire the skills that will enable them to contribute to the prosperity and progress of our beloved nation. The Minister noted that Egyptian women have received significant attention under the leadership of H.E. President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic. This has been reflected in the launch of the National Strategy for the Empowerment of Egyptian Women 2030 and the measures that have enabled women to hold leadership positions that were previously inaccessible. She added that empowering women economically, socially, and politically does not only benefit women themselves, but yields positive results across all aspects of life in Egypt. She further explained that women's empowerment is a key component of the state's efforts to invest in human capital and develop the skills of young men and women, enhancing their ability to assume leadership positions. The state is working to integrate gender equality and women's economic and social empowerment across all development plans. As such, women's empowerment has become a core component of the economic and social development plan, as well as various strategies and programs being implemented in cooperation with bilateral and multilateral development partners. Dr. Al-Mashat added: 'Empowering women economically, socially, and politically is a significant responsibility. Women are required to constantly prove their competence and capability to hold such positions. In addition, they bear a major responsibility in encouraging more women and girls to enter various fields of work, thereby increasing women's participation in the labor market.' Dr. Rasha Ragheb, Executive Director of the NTA, welcomed Dr. Rania Al-Mashat upon her arrival at the Academy headquarters in Giza Governorate. Dr. Al-Mashat and Dr. Ragheb toured the training sessions taking place under the Support for Improvement in Governance and Management (SIGMA) program. This program is part of the effective partnership between the NTA, the Ministry of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation, the European Union, and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). The Minister took the opportunity to motivate the participants in the program, stressing the importance of the partnership between Egypt and the OECD. This partnership has resulted in the implementation of several programs that contribute to strengthening governance mechanisms and supporting development efforts in Egypt. read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia News Australia Fines Telegram $600,000 Over Terrorism, Child Abuse Content Arts & Culture Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban's $4.7M LA Home Burglarized Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Sports Neymar Announced for Brazil's Preliminary List for 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers News Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly Inaugurates Two Indian Companies Arts & Culture New Archaeological Discovery from 26th Dynasty Uncovered in Karnak Temple Business Fear & Greed Index Plummets to Lowest Level Ever Recorded amid Global Trade War Arts & Culture Zahi Hawass: Claims of Columns Beneath the Pyramid of Khafre Are Lies News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks

President Al-Mashat: Yemen will not back down from supporting Palestine – Israelis should prepare for scorching Summer

Sana'a – SABA: His Excellency Marshal Mahdi Al-Mashat, President of the Supreme Political Council, reaffirmed that Yemen will not retreat from its firm decision to support Gaza until the aggression is halted and the siege lifted. During a visit today to Sana'a International Airport, following an Israeli airstrike on the facility, President Al-Mashat declared: 'The criminal aggression carried out by the enemy today at Sana'a Airport will not deter us. On the contrary, it will drive us to do more and go further.' He added, 'Our men will bring in aircraft, and the airport will return to operation, God willing.' President Al-Mashat emphasized: 'We tell the Zionist enemy—we will not back down, we will not surrender, and our resolve will not be broken. We stand by our decision to support our people in Gaza until the aggression ends and the blockade is lifted.' Addressing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, he warned: 'You will not be able to protect your herds of Zionists from our missiles.' He also warned companies still flying into 'Ben Gurion Airport' that they are at risk at any moment, stating: 'The Zionist public must understand that Yemeni missiles can reach their targets, and the shelters will no longer be safe.' 'We call on all travelers around the world to avoid flights to Ben Gurion Airport, as they are neither safe nor immune from our strikes.' President Al-Mashat warned that Israeli shelters will no longer offer protection, asserting: 'The government of the vile Netanyahu is incapable of protecting you. Painful surprises are coming, and our missiles will be determined to hit their targets—or a range of random targets.' He stated that the Israeli strike on Sana'a Airport is evidence of the enemy's pain caused by Yemeni Armed Forces' retaliatory strikes. President Al-Mashat further declared: 'Our air defenses are capable of handling F-35 jets, God willing. What previously prevented us was their proximity to civilian aircraft. We may have to shut down parts of our airspace to allow our defenses to operate freely.' He concluded his remarks with a warning: 'Let the Zionists prepare for a scorching summer.' Al Mashat participates in Egyptian-Swedish Business Forum

Basant Ahmed Dr. Rania A. Al-Mashat, Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation, participated in the Egyptian-Swedish Business Forum, held at the General Authority for Investment. The forum was attended by H.E. Eng. Hassan El-Khatib, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade; H.E. Mr. Benjamin Dosa, Sweden's Minister for Foreign Trade and International Development Cooperation; Mr. Dag Juhlin-Dannfelt, Ambassador of Sweden to Egypt; Ms. Maria Håkansson, CEO of the Swedish Development Finance Institution "Swedfund"; and a number of major Swedish companies investing in Egypt, including IKEA, Ericsson, and Electrolux, among others. During her speech, H.E. Dr. Rania Al-Mashat emphasized that the Egyptian-Swedish Business Forum represents a gathering that reflects the strength of the economic partnership between Egypt and Sweden, two nations that share a vision for progress driven by innovation, investment, and cooperation. H.E. noted that the first Egyptian-Swedish Business Forum contributed to enhancing dialogue, strengthening trade relations, and led to actionable insights on how to deepen cooperation. Among the key outcomes was a shared ambition to enhance financial mechanisms, support business expansion, and leverage expertise in technology and sustainability. The success of that forum laid the foundation for today's discussions, allowing for building upon mutual achievements. H.E. Dr. Al-Mashat affirmed that the presence of Swedish companies operating in Egypt plays a crucial role in driving innovation, creating job opportunities, and promoting industrial efficiency. This also reflects Egypt's centrality as a regional and international hub in trade and logistics, encompassing everything from infrastructure and digital solutions to financial tools that empower entrepreneurs and companies alike. H.E. Minister Al-Mashat pointed out that the forum represents an opportunity to further integrate Swedish expertise with Egyptian ambition, ensuring the continued achievement of shared goals. H.E. Dr. Al-Mashat highlighted the strong Egyptian-European relations, both at the country and European financial institution levels, which support sustainable development efforts in Egypt and empower the private sector. She mentioned that next June will witness the launch of the investment guarantee mechanism, which was announced during the Egyptian-EU Summit. This mechanism provides guarantees worth 1.8 billion Euros to attract private capital and mobilize impactful investments across vital sectors such as energy, infrastructure, digitalization, water, agriculture, and climate resilience. These guarantees will also play a pivotal role in mobilizing additional financing from European and international development banks, enhancing Egypt's investment landscape, and creating new opportunities for the private sector, including Swiss companies. H.E. Dr. Al-Mashat touched on the ambitious measures implemented by the government since March 2024 to enhance macroeconomic stability and improve the business environment, aimed at driving growth, employment, and solidifying the economy's resilience. This was reflected in the shift in the quality of economic growth, now based on non-petroleum manufacturing industries, as well as an increase in private sector investments compared to a contraction in public investments. H.E. Minister Al-Mashat also stressed the importance of fostering Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) from Swedish companies in Egypt, as well as strengthening technical support within the framework of the national platform for the "NWFE" program. She also highlighted Egypt's endeavors in the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) to boost the competitiveness of Egyptian exports while adapting to the green transition and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. H.E. Dr. Al-Mashat reiterated that the forum provides a unique opportunity to build lasting partnerships, explore untapped potential, and align economic visions for a better tomorrow. She confirmed the Ministry of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation commitment to maximizing the benefit from development cooperation mechanisms with the Swedish side to drive economic development. read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid News Egypt confirms denial of airspace access to US B-52 bombers News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia News Australia Fines Telegram $600,000 Over Terrorism, Child Abuse Content Arts & Culture Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban's $4.7M LA Home Burglarized Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Sports Neymar Announced for Brazil's Preliminary List for 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers News Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly Inaugurates Two Indian Companies Arts & Culture New Archaeological Discovery from 26th Dynasty Uncovered in Karnak Temple Business Fear & Greed Index Plummets to Lowest Level Ever Recorded amid Global Trade War Arts & Culture Zahi Hawass: Claims of Columns Beneath the Pyramid of Khafre Are Lies
