Koury discusses return of displaced persons with Murzuq delegation
The Deputy Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Political Affairs, Stephanie Koury, has discussed with a delegation from Murzuq ways to enable the displaced to return to the city and restore its local and regional role.
This came during a meeting that brought together Koury on Thursday with a delegation from the Al-Mithaq Association for Murzuq Families and a number of the city's elders and notables, according to a statement published on UNSMIL's Facebook page on Saturday.
The participants emphasized the importance of promoting transitional justice, including accountability for the gross human rights violations that occurred in the city during the 2019 conflict.
