Souq Waqif to host second edition of ‘Hamba Exhibition' of Pakistani mangoes from today
Tribune News Network Doha The Celebrations Committee of the Private Engineering Office, in cooperation with the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in Doha, is organising the second edition of the Hamba Exhibition for Pakistani Mangoes and Products at the Eastern Square of Souq Waqif from July 10 to 19, 2025. This ten-day event invites visitors to enjoy a vibrant cultural experience, combining the rich flavours of Pakistan with authentic traditions. The return of the exhibition follows the resounding success of last year's inaugural edition, which drew wide public attendance and positive engagement. Building on that momentum, this year's event will see the participation of over 60 local Qatari companies and more than 10 specialised Pakistani companies engaged in mango trading and export. Exhibitors will showcase premium-quality mango varieties, freshly flown in for the event, including several new types being introduced to the Qatari market for the first time. The exhibition also features the participation of more than 25 restaurants and shops from the food and hospitality sector, offering innovative dishes and a wide array of mango-based products, adding a distinctive cultural and culinary dimension to the visitor experience. On this occasion, Khalid Saif Al-Suwaidi, General Supervisor of the Exhibition, said: 'We are launching the second edition of the Hamba Exhibition in cooperation with the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, with the aim of delivering a rich experience that combines authentic flavours and high quality. We have ensured that the exhibition site is equipped with appropriate cooling systems to preserve the freshness of the mangoes, which are flown in daily from Pakistan specifically for this event. We anticipate a strong turnout this year and are committed to providing an even better experience than last year's highly praised edition.' Al-Suwaidi added: 'What sets this year's exhibition apart is the extensive participation of both local and Pakistani companies specialising in mango trade and related products. We hope this will stimulate economic activity by enhancing trade exchange and encouraging healthy competition among traders—ultimately benefiting local consumers through greater variety and improved quality.' He also noted that daily visiting hours will be from 4:00pm to 9:00pm, extending to 10:00pm on official holidays. He encouraged the public to visit the exhibition early to enjoy the diverse mango varieties arriving from various regions of Pakistan, emphasising that some premium types may sell out quickly due to high demand. Ambassador of Pakistan, HE Muhammad Aamer, said: 'This year marks the second edition of the Pakistan Mango Exhibition in Doha, following the remarkable success of last year's event. The Al Hamba Festival is not only a celebration of Pakistan's finest mango varieties but also a vibrant showcase of our country's rich agricultural heritage. I would like to congratulate the Celebrations Organising Committee of the Private Engineering Office for their outstanding efforts in bringing this event to life. Kuwait highlights quality and innovation at Arab Government Excellence Award workshop
KUWAIT CITY, June 16: Kuwait reaffirmed its strong commitment to promoting excellence in government performance and enhancing public service efficiency during the opening of the introductory workshop for the fourth edition of the Arab Government Excellence Award, held Monday. Speaking to KUNA, Assistant Undersecretary for Administrative Development at the Civil Service Commission (CSC) Mohammad Al-Ahmad emphasized Kuwait's dedication to adopting excellence as a key tool for institutional development, improving service delivery, and embedding quality standards across government agencies. The workshop marked the launch of the latest edition of the Arab Government Excellence Award — a collaborative initiative between the Arab League and the United Arab Emirates government — held under the patronage of UAE Vice President and Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. 'The award is designed to inspire excellence and leadership in government work across the Arab world by recognizing outstanding institutional and individual achievements,' said Al-Ahmad. 'Kuwait, through its participation, aims to make significant strides in institutional performance, which will enhance the quality of services provided to citizens and support institutions in addressing future challenges.' Also speaking at the event, Advisor to the Sheikh Khalifa Government Excellence Program, Fahad Al-Suwaidi, noted that the award is open to all Arab countries. He highlighted its mission to foster a culture of institutional excellence, promote visionary leadership, and encourage the adoption of excellence in public administration. 'The award not only aims to improve performance and ensure continuous development in Arab government institutions, but also serves as a regional platform for sharing best practices and successful government experiences,' Al-Suwaidi explained. He added that the vision of the award centers on supporting Arab governments in their pursuit of excellence and international competitiveness through collaboration and knowledge exchange. The goal, he said, is to ultimately serve societies more effectively. Al-Suwaidi further stated that the program seeks to expand participation across the Arab region, with Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries often presenting some of the most distinguished projects. He stressed that the award's recognition of excellence underscores the importance of innovation and quality in public service. Winners will be honored in a major ceremony held at the League of Arab States headquarters, celebrating achievements in improving government performance, raising the standard of living, and strengthening the global competitiveness of Arab nations.

Martyrs, Mostly Children, in Zionist Enemy's Bombing of Homes in Gaza City
Gaza – SABA: A number of Palestinian civilians, mostly children, were martyred on Tuesday afternoon after the Zionist enemy's warplanes targeted Gaza City. Medical sources told the Palestinian News Agency that three children were martyred when the enemy bombed the home of the Al-Suwaidi family near Jaafar Mosque in the Shujaiya neighborhood, east of Gaza City. Additionally, several civilians were martyred and others injured after the Zionist enemy's warplanes struck a home in the Al-Saftawi neighborhood, north of Gaza City. According to medical sources, more than 70 civilians, including children and women, have been martyred since dawn today due to a series of airstrikes and brutal massacres committed by the Zionist enemy, targeting homes and tents sheltering displaced families in the Gaza Strip. Since October 7, 2023, the Zionist enemy forces have waged an aggression on Gaza, resulting in the martyrdom of 53,573 civilians, the majority of whom are children and women, and 121,688 injuries. Iraq to collaborate with UAE in aviation
Baghdad ( – The Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, underlined on Sunday that Iraq is ready to collaborate with the UAE in the aviation sector. Al-Sudani's remarks took place during his meeting with the Director-General of the UAE's General Civil Aviation Authority, Saif Al-Suwaidi, in the presence of the Iraqi Minister of Construction and Housing and chairman of the Iraqi Civil Aviation Authority (ICAA), Benkin Rekani, according to a statement released by the Prime Minister's Office (PMO). Al-Sudani underlined the government's desire to grow the aviation and air transport industry because of its critical role in the growth of other industries, especially tourism and economic development. Iraq is willing to work with the United Arab Emirates in the aviation and air transportation sectors, according to Al-Sudani. The prime minister emphasized the need to build on the qualitative advancement in this area and advance Iraq's expanding capacities jointly with the comprehensive renaissance the country is experiencing. Al-Suwaidi emphasized Iraq's significance as an air route between the East and the West and its preparedness to serve as an important hub for regional integration within the global aviation system. Additionally, Al-Suwaidi emphasized the UAE's readiness to improve and foster intense collaboration with Iraq in all fields pertaining to civil aviation and air transport.
