NAQ Secretary-General Dr Ahmed Abdullah Al Buainain said the move enhances institutional knowledge, preserves national identity and supports decision-making in line with the sustainability and governance pillars of Qatar National Vision 2030. He added the partnership is part of NAQ's 2025–2030 strategy that seeks an integrated document management system based on digital transformation, innovation and sustainability. ‘Student registration for 2025-2026 academic year smooth, flexible'

QNA Doha The student registration process for the 2025-2026 academic year has been smooth and flexible, Director of the Schools and Student Affairs Department at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) Maryam Ali Al Nesef Al Buainain has confirmed. After the full transition to public schools, which are responsible for implementing registration procedures, the ministry's student admission and registration department is responsible for following up on applications according to approved regulations, while ensuring balanced student distribution and avoiding overcrowding in schools. Al Buainain said that if there are no vacancies available at the school where the guardian lives through the Maaref Portal for Public Services, they can register or transfer to one of the alternative schools shown on the system. She added that if there are no vacancies at the parent's school or alternative schools, the parent can contact the school where they live to request assistance with registration or transfer, stressing that the school will contact the ministry's registration officer to provide the parent with a school that can be provided to register or transfer the student. She noted that the ministry provides a bus request service after completing initial registration, giving students the option of taking the bus or not, which contributes to the ministry's readiness to meet transportation needs for the upcoming academic year. Al Buainain explained that if documents are missing or conditions are not met, the registration request will not be rejected. Instead, a return request service will be available, giving the guardian the opportunity to complete the paperwork without losing their seat. She warned against the circulation of misinformation on social media platforms regarding the registration process, urging parents to obtain information from official sources. She emphasised that the ministry's website includes all details related to the registration process, its steps, requirements, and eligible categories. The number of new students expected to enrol this year ranges between 16,000 and 17,000. The number of government schools amounts to 218 schools for boys and girls at various levels, in addition to 65 kindergartens. Al Buainain announced the opening of two new schools this year in areas with high student density: a secondary school for boys in Umm Salal and a primary school for girls in Al Wakra. As for those with special needs, Al Buainain emphasised that public schools provide advanced support services for this group, urging parents who have not completed their file to visit one of the Roua centres to determine the student's level, thus facilitating subsequent registration. She noted the existence of high-level integration centres, with plans to open new specialised schools in the future. The director of Schools and Student Affairs Department stressed that there are no exceptions to the registration process, noting that the ministry only takes into account the student's age characteristics. If vacancies are not available at the desired school within the geographical area, the guardian must accept the alternative option. A hotline is also available to receive inquiries during official working hours.

Public Prosecution opens four-month training programme to protect marine wealth

TDT | Manama Bahrain has opened a fourmonth programme to toughen the enforcement of laws protecting its marine wealth, bringing together prosecutors, judges, police and environmental bodies under royal orders to defend a key source of food and income. Attorney General, Dr Ali bin Fadhel Al Buainain, launched the sessions yesterday. The event, titled 'Criminal Protection of Marine Wealth and Environment', has been arranged by the Public Prosecution, working with the Supreme Council for Environment, the Ministry of Interior, and the Judicial and Legal Studies Institute at the Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Waqf. In his remarks, Dr Al Buainain said the Kingdom's marine resources were part of its heritage and a foundation of its development. Royal Directives He pointed to Royal Directives issued by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, calling for stronger action to protect marine life and preserve fish stocks as a source of food security and economic strength. The Attorney General said the programme forms part of a national effort to shield Bahrain's marine wealth, following swift government action to tackle threats facing the environment. He praised the personal involvement of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, in pushing through urgent measures. Dr Al Buainain also noted the work of Shaikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Personal Representative of His Majesty the King and President of the Supreme Council for Environment, in coordinating national efforts. Shared duty Protecting marine wealth, Dr Al Buainain said, was a shared duty between all concerned bodies. Success, he added, would depend on joint work and constant coordination. The training, he explained, would not only review the law but also tackle real-world challenges, ranging from detecting breaches and handling seizures to securing convictions in court. It aims to strengthen the enforcement system and close gaps in practical application. Given the scale of the task, the programme will run across four months to allow speakers and participants to cover all legal and practical sides fully. Address Dr Riyadh Seyadi, Director of the Judicial and Legal Studies Institute, also addressed the opening. He said the training fitted with the broader national plan laid down by HM the King to build food security, preserve resources and drive sustainable growth. Dr Seyadi added that care for the environment had become a national duty, and that building legal and technical skills was now essential for strong enforcement. Public bodies The programme includes a series of talks, lectures and workshops, touching on legal and practical topics to strengthen the ability of public bodies to enforce environmental and marine law. Sessions will be delivered by experts from the Public Prosecution, the Ministry of Interior and the Supreme Council for the Environment. Those taking part include judges, prosecutors, judicial officers from across ministries, representatives of companies active in marine fields, and those involved in related activities.
