Seeb clinch Omantel League title, Sur relegated
Seeb Club was crowned champions of the Omantel League for the 2023–2024 season after a 1 0 victory over Al Rustaq, in a match held at the Al Rustaq Sports Complex as part of the 21st round of the competition. Seeb entered the match seeking the three points to seal the title, while Al Rustaq aimed to escape relegation. The match started cautiously, with the first notable chance being a shot from Musab al Maamari that went over the crossbar. Seeb responded with efforts from Arshad al Alawi and Zaher al Aghbari. In the 35th minute, Haroun Kamara opened the scoring with a header from a corner kick. Just before halftime, Al Rustaq goalkeeper Islam al Hinai received a red card for handling the ball outside his area, forcing his team to play the rest of the match with ten men. In the second half, Al Rustaq tried to equalise despite being a man down, but Seeb's solid defense prevented any breakthrough. Al KHABOURAH DEFEAT Al NASR Al Khabourah defeated Al Nasr 2-1 in a match played at Al Saada Sports Complex as part of the First Division League. The first half saw Al Khabourah dominate possession without creating major threats, with highlights including a header by Rashid al Hosni and a shot from Ahmed al Riyami. The half ended goalless. In the second half, Amir Alaa scored for Al Khabourah in the 67th minute, followed by a second goal from Zakaria al Qartoubi two minutes later. Al Nasr managed to reduce the deficit with a penalty converted by Marwan Taib in the 81st minute, but their attempts to equalise were unsuccessful. SAHAM BEAT SOHAR Saham earned a well deserved 2-0 win over Sohar in a match held on Saturday at Sohar Sports Complex. Saham opened the scoring early in the 5th minute through a penalty taken by Baba Tunde, awarded after a mistake by goalkeeper Faiz al Rushaidi, who mispassed the ball to a defender. Marwan al Ghafri added the second goal in the 48th minute with a corner kick that found the net. Saham dominated the game and posed multiple threats to Sohar's goal but couldn't extend the lead further. The match ended 2-0. With this victory, Saham climbed to seventh place with 26 points, while Sohar remained in 10th place with 21 points, just one point ahead of Ibri, the first team in the relegation zone. SUR RELEGATED AFTER 3-3 DRAW WITH AL SHABAB Sur officially relegated to the First Division League after a 3-3 draw with Al Shabab in a match held at Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher. Al Shabab's goals came from Mohammed al Ghafri, who scored a hat-trick, while Sur's goals were scored by Mana Sbeit, Mohammed al Najashi, and Abdullah al Mashaikhi. With this draw, Sur reached 18 points but remained at the bottom of the table and was officially relegated before the final round. They needed a win and favorable results from other matches to avoid the drop. AL NAHDA & BAHLA GOALLESS DRAW Al Nahda and Bahla played to a goalless draw in their match at Seeb Sports Stadium. With this result, Al Nahda reached 44 points and secured second place in the league standings before the final round. Bahla, with 39 points, confirmed its position in third place.

Al Khabourah stun Oman Club; Bahla and Saham shine
MUSCAT, APRIL 23 Al Khabourah clinched an exciting 3-2 win over Oman Club in the round 19 of Omantel League at the Seeb Sports Stadium on Tuesday. The match began with an aggressive approach from Oman Club, aiming for an early goal. However, the game quickly turned into an even contest between both sides. Al Khabourah's best chance in the first half came in the 18th minute when Ahmed al Riyami went one-on-one with the goalkeeper, only to be denied by a brilliant save. This was followed by a dangerous header from captain Rashid al Hosani that went over the bar. On the other end, Mahmood al Hassani missed a clear chance for Oman Club in the 38th minute. Al Khabourah eventually opened the scoring in the 41st minute through Ahmed al Riyami, who capitalised on a defensive error. In the second half, Oman Club quickly got back into the game with an equaliser in the 51st minute, scored by Azan al Tamimi, who followed up a rebound off the goalkeeper. Mohammed Lamine Dia restored Al Khabourah's lead in the 67th minute. However, Daniel Etor brought Oman Club level again in the 78th minute with a well-taken free kick by Mohammed al Maashari. In the dying minutes, substitute Noah al Araimi sealed the win for Al Khabourah, scoring from a defensive scramble inside the box. The referee added five minutes of stoppage time, but no further goals were scored, and the match ended 3-2 in favour of Al Khabourah. SAHAM HOLD AL NAHDA Saham started strongly and opened the scoring in the ninth minute through their Nigerian professional Adeniji Babatunde. Al Nahda responded with an equaliser by Harib al Saadi in the 36th minute, ending the first half at 1-1. In the second half, Al Hajj Malik gave Al Nahda the lead in the 49th minute, but Saham fought back and equalised through Bassam al Saadi in the 78th minute, with both teams sharing the spoils. With this result, Al Nahda moved to 40 points in second place, missing a chance to close the gap on league leaders Seeb. Meanwhile, Saham reached 22 points and sit in seventh place. BAHLA EDGE AL RUSTAQ Bahla secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Al Rustaq at the Al Rustaq Sports Complex. The lone goal came from Bahla's Loke Vimke. With this win, Bahla moved up to 22 points, escaping the relegation zone and climbing to ninth place. Al Rustaq, on the other hand, remained at 20 points and fell back into the danger zone, sharing the same points total with Ibri but holding 10th place on goal difference.

Al Rustaq triumph over Sur in OL
Muscat: Al Rustaq claimed a precious 1-0 victory over Sur, as part of the 18th round of the Omantel League on Tuesday. Al Rustaq dominated most of the first half and threatened Sur's goal with several attempts from Laith al Adawi and Ernest. The breakthrough came in the 36th minute when Al Adawi scored with a header following a precise cross from Ernest. Sur attempted to respond through counter-attacks but lacked effectiveness, ending the first half with Al Rustaq in the lead. In the second half, both teams continued to press ahead. Sur had a notable chance in the 55th minute, and Al Rustaq responded with a shot over the bar in the 60th minute. Both coaches made substitutions to bolster their attacks. Abdullah al Mushaikhi and Aysar al Alawi stood out for Sur but couldn't change the result. The match ended with Al Rustaq taking all three points. With this win, Al Rustaq raised their tally to 20 points, moving up to eighth place and distancing themselves from relegation danger. The first half saw a moderate level of play with both sides attempting to break the deadlock. The best chances came from a long-range effort by Mohsin Jawhar that sailed over the crossbar in the ninth minute, and a dangerous header from Rashid al Hosani that was brilliantly saved by goalkeeper Fayez al Rushaidi in the 25th minute. Despite Al Khabourah's relative dominance in aerial balls, Sohar opened the scoring in the 41st minute through Saud al Muqbali, who finished from a cross, ending the half 1-0 in Sohar's favour. Al Khabourah came out strongly in the second half and pressed for an equaliser, which came in the 51st minute via a header from Mohammed Lami off a cross. Both teams continued to trade attacks, but neither could secure the win, even with six minutes of added time, ending the game in a 1-1 draw. Sohar's draw brings them to 18 points, slipping to 11th place, while Al Khabourah climb to 22 points in fifth place. SAHAM, IBRI DRAW 2-2 Saham and Ibri battled to a 2-2 draw at the Sur Sports Complex. Ibri had a slight upper hand in the first half and scored an early goal in the ninth minute through Yousef al Khalili. They maintained their lead into half-time. In the second half, Saham responded strongly. Nigerian striker Adeniji Babatunde equalised in the 48th minute and scored again in the 72nd to give Saham a 2-1 lead. However, Ibri reacted quickly and levelled the score just two minutes later with a goal by Viston Abdul. The draw puts Saham at 21 points in sixth place, while Ibri climb to 20 points in ninth place.

Saham stun Al Khabourah in last 16 of OL
MUSCAT, MARCH 9 Saham secured an exciting 3-2 victory over Al Khabourah on Saturday at Al Rustaq Sports Complex as part of the 16th round of the Oman Football League. The game started cautiously from both teams, the first chance was in the 6th minute for Saham's Ali al Hashmi, but he failed to capitalise. Al Khabourah responded with attacking pressure, as Bashar al Balushi fired a powerful shot in the 13th minute, brilliantly saved by Saham's goalkeeper. Yusuf Bouabid nearly opened the scoring for Saham in the 15th minute, but his shot narrowly missed the right post. Saham's goalkeeper made a crucial save against a dangerous shot from Joen Karl, while Omar Prince wasted a golden opportunity for Saham with a weak attempt in the 19th minute. The attacking pressure was tie to end first half in a goalless draw. The second half kicked off with a higher tempo, as Al Khabourah took the lead in the 53rd minute through Ahmed al Riyami, who capitalised on defensive confusion inside the box. However, Saham responded quickly, earning a penalty that was successfully converted by Algerian Rashid Aït in the 57th minute, bringing the game back to level terms. Saham continued pressing and managed to take the lead in the 62nd minute through Adeniji. Al Khabourah intensified their attacks, attempting to break through the wings and central areas, but Saham's goalkeeper, Hassan al Buraiki, showcased brilliant saves, especially in the final minutes. Red Warriors gear up for final group ties at WC Qualifiers
Muscat: The Oman national football team were supposed to play an international friendly match against Niger on Monday at Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex as part of the team's preparations for the AFC Asian Qualifiers – Road to 26 but the match postponed until further notice as the guest team did not arrive to Muscat. On the other side, the team players raised their warm up sessions at the underway domestic camp which started on February 22. The local camp was an opportunity for the coaching staff to monitor the players physical and technical level ahead of the scheduled matches against South Korea and Kuwait on 20 and 25 March respectively as part of Group B games in the AFC Asian Qualifiers – Road to 26. Red Warriors gear up for final group ties at WC Qualifiers Coach Rasheed Jaber and his assistant Yaqoob al Sabahi implemented various technical tactics to boost attacking side of the team and enhancing the defending area. The current Red Warriors gathering featured attendance of some new faces including three players from first division league like: Issa al Nabi and Mundher al Wahiabi (Muscat club) beside Ridhwan al Syiabi from Samayel club beside Al Khabourah player Al Faraj al Kiyuomi. The new players performed top shows and confirmed their eligibility to be part of the national team. Three different venues where Oman team players executed their technical practices during this camp including Royal Court Affairs stadium in Al Khoudh, Seeb Stadium and Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex. Red Warriors gear up for final group ties at WC Qualifiers Oman, now with six points in the group, and they will aim to bounce back strongly in the qualifiers after their defeat against Iraq by 1-0 last November. Red Warriors focus will be to vie for the third and fourth places as this will lead to another phase of competitions ahead of the World Cup in Mexico, USA and Canada next summer. Iraq has bolstered their chances of claiming one of the top two spots in Group B beside Jordan while South Korea almost confirmed their spot in the World Cup. Oman will face a challenging away fixture against group leaders South Korea in Seoul on March 20 and five days later they will meet Kuwait in Kuwait city.
