QCB announces availability of Eidiya ATMs at 10 locations
DOHA: Qatar Central Bank (QCB) has announced the availability of Eidiya ATMs at 10 locations across the country from Friday, May 30. The ATMs dispense banknotes of QR5, QR10, QR50 and QR100 denominations. Eidiya ATMs are available at Place Vendome, Mall of Qatar, Al Wakrah Old Souq, Doha Festival City (DFC), Al Hazm Mall, Al Mirqab Mall, West Walk, Al Khor Mall, Al Meera (Muaither) and Al Meera (Al Thumama). QCB's Eidiya ATM service aims to preserve the Qatari culture and heritage by bringing back the traditional practice of Eidi, which is usually money or gift given to children.

Qatar: Al Meera AGM approves cash dividend for 2024
Doha, Qatar: Al Meera Consumer Goods Company convened its Annual General Assembly Meeting for the fiscal year 2024 this Monday, corresponding to 14 April, at Radisson Blu Hotel. The meeting was held with the esteemed presence of members of the Board, Al Meera management, and a significant number of shareholders. At the commencement of the assembly, Jassim Al Surour, Director of Administrative Affairs and Human Resources, extended a warm welcome to all attendees. He conveyed his sincere gratitude and profound appreciation to Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani for his visionary guidance and unwavering leadership, which have been instrumental in the continued growth and development of the State of Qatar. The assembly included reviewing and approving the Board of Directors' report and the company's financial statements for the fiscal year ending December 31, 2024. The company's future strategic plans were also approved. Shareholders granted approval to discharge the Board of Directors from liability and determined their remuneration for the same fiscal year. Furthermore, the assembly ratified the Board's recommendation for cash dividends of QR0.85 per share. The external auditor's report for 2024 was approved, and the external auditor for the fiscal year 2025 was appointed, with their fees duly determined. Highlighting the company's strong financial performance in 2024, consolidated sales reached QR2.81bn, and total gross profits increased by 2.1% to QR560.3m compared to the previous year. Revenues from outlet rentals amounted to QR79m, resulting in a net profit attributable to shareholders of QR183.4m, equating to earnings per share of QR0.89. Concluding the meeting, shareholders elected the members of the Board of Directors who will serve for the three-year term from 2025 to 2027. The two members who represent Qatar Holding's stake in the Board of Directors of the Company for the next session were appointed by Qatar Investment Authority as follows: H E Essa Hilal Al Kuwari, Chairman and Mubarak Abdulaziz Al Khulaifi, Member. Shareholders also elected the following members: Prof. Khalid Ibrahim M B Al-Sulaiti, Khalid Hamed A M Al-Hababi, White Rock Trading and Contracting Company, represented by Shiekh Fahad Falah J J Al-Thani, Fakhroo Holding Company, Tariq Abdullatif H M Al-Jaber. Reflecting on the company's strong performance in 2024, Al Meera commented: 'In 2024, Al Meera continued to achieve multiple milestones in many areas, particularly for the customer shopping experience, which saw a new concept for shopping in branches that keeps pace with the latest international standards and offers a modern vision for the world of retail. Qatar: Al Meera embarks on digitising platforms, expanding self-checkout
Qatar - Al Meera Consumer Goods Company is strengthening efforts to digitise platforms and expand self-checkout as part of its continued strategies to improve services to customers. "Looking towards the future, Al Meera's strategy remains centered on enhancing the customer experience by improving service, digitising platforms, expanding self-checkout, and upgrading store aesthetics," said its board report tabled before shareholders at the annual general assembly meeting, which approved the financial results and cash dividends of QR0.85 per share for 2024. Operationally, the focus would be on increasing efficiency and cost-effectiveness through technological advancements and streamlined processes to ensure operational excellence and deliver superior customer value, it said. "In line with our continuous ambition to expand the horizons of innovation as a key driver of sustainable growth, we have made significant progress in this direction through a long-term strategy and our ambitious journey toward comprehensive digital transformation," said Al Meera chairman Abdulla Abdulaziz Abdullah Turki al-Subaie in the 2024 report. During the review period, Al Meera strengthened its market presence both online and offline with its online and home delivery service contributing 5%–6% of total sales. Over the past year, Al Meera strengthened its position as a leader in advanced retail, continuing to adopt a sustainable innovation strategy with a focus on digital transformation, a focus that led to significant advancements in 2024. As part of its digital transformation, Al Meera had in 2024 introduced smart shopping carts, the first of their kind in Qatar. "Following the opening Al Meera Smart, a fully automated, check-out free branch in 2023, the first of its kind in Qatar and the region, we continued to advance our digital retail offering with the launch of smart shopping carts in January 2024, the first in Qatar, further enhancing the in-store experience and reinforcing our commitment to delivering innovative and seamless shopping solutions for our customers," according to al-Subaie.
