1 2 Pune: Pimpri Chinchwad police on Tuesday, arrested a 29-year-old criminal on police records and detained his three minor accomplices on the charge of thrashing and robbing a 30-year-old private security guard near Shinde Vasti in Ravet late on Sunday night. The gang threatened the victim with a sharp weapon and thrashed him with an umbrella before robbing Rs4,500 from him. The terrified victim approached the Ravet police on Tuesday and lodged a complaint against the suspects. "We took the suspect Akash Alhat into custody from Walhekarwadi in Chinchwad and detained his three minor accomplices," police sub-inspector Ajit Kakade of the Ravet police told TOI. The officer said that the complainant works as a security guard at a housing complex in Ravet. On Sunday night around 10.30pm, he prepared a tiffin for his colleague and was driving towards the housing complex to give it to him. Alhat told him that he was 'Akya Bhai' and abused him for not recognising him," the officer said. Alhat also snatched Rs4,500 from his wallet," Kakade said. He said that as the victim continued to resist and was screaming for help, two men on a motorcycle stopped there. But the suspects threatened them with a sharp weapon and forced them to leave. "The victim then called his colleague. By that time, the trio drove away from the spot. The victim took a photograph of their scooter's registration number," he said. Kakade said that Alhat is a criminal on police records and has cases of dacoity and extortion against him. "We have arrested Alhat and detained his minor accomplices," Kakade said.
