Remove Ads The Cabinet in Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province has approved a resolution, calling on the federal government to review its Aghan policy and allow the provincial authorities to hold direct talks with the neighbouring country to ensure lasting peace in the region.A meeting of the provincial Cabinet with Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur in the chair on Friday approved the resolution stated that "Khyber Pakhtunkhwa should be empowered to play an effective role in resolving all outstanding issues through direct and meaningful dialogue with Afghanistan so that lasting peace and stability in the region can be ensured."The resolution further recommended the provincial government urge the federal government to reconsider and immediately revise its current policy regarding resolution further stated Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has been a victim of terrorism for several people of the province are still yearning to be freed from this menace, the resolution said, adding that the ongoing incidents of terrorism continued to pose a constant threat to the lives and property of the policy of the Government of Pakistan concerning Afghanistan has proven to be ineffective, it of curbing terrorism, it has led to its escalation and has also strained the relations between the two countries and their has further complicated the situation by promoting mutual hatred, affecting trade, and deteriorating law and order."It says that "in this context, immediate and concrete measures have become essential to restore trust between the two brotherly nations and to establish lasting peace in the region."The resolution was recently passed by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Provincial Assembly.

K-P to unveil FY25-26 budget on June 13
The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government will table the FY 2025-26 budget on June 13. Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur greenlighted the summary sent by the finance ministry and approved the date for budget presentation. Instead of finance advisor Muzamil Aslam, Minister for Law Aftab Alam will unveil the budget as Aslam is not a member of the house. Alam had also presented the budget for the current financial year. Sources said the total outlay of the K-P budget for the next fiscal year is likely to be pegged at Rs2,000 billion. Around Rs450 to Rs500 billion are likely to be earmarked for development projects. It is pertinent to mention that the total volume of the current fiscal year was fixed at Rs1751 billion, with Rs420 billion set aside for ADP. The K-P government is preparing for a Rs180 billion surplus budget for the next fiscal. Interestingly, the K-P government had broken the parliamentary tradition last year and presented a surplus budget for FY 2024-25 in the provincial assembly, even before the announcement of the federal budget, a move unprecedented in the country's history. Finance Minister Aftab Alam unveiled the Rs1,754 billion budget for fiscal 2024-25 [July-June], boasting a surplus of Rs100 billion.

KP govt sets targets for completion of hydropower projects: CM
PESHAWAR: 'The KP government has set the timely and quality completion of multiple small and large-scale hydropower projects as a key priority to fully utilise the province's considerable hydropower potential.' This was stated by KP Chief Minister Sardar Ali Amin Gandapur while chairing a meeting of the Energy and Power Department. The chief minister emphasised that financial progress on these projects must reach 100% by the end of the current fiscal year, alongside meeting physical progress targets as scheduled. The meeting reviewed the progress so far made on the projects being carried out under the Annual Development Programme by the Energy and Power Department. The concerned officials gave a detailed briefing on the financial and physical progress of these projects. The chief minister directed that financial progress on these projects must be ensured at 100 percent by the end of the current fiscal year. He also instructed that physical progress on these projects be ensured in accordance with the set targets. Ali Amin Gandapur stated that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has considerable hydropower potential; timely and quality completion of ongoing hydro power projects is essential to fully benefit from it. On this occasion, the chief minister directed that measures be taken to supply electricity from the under-construction Balakot Hydropower Project to local industries. He also emphasised ensuring significant progress on the solarisation project, stating that solarisation is a flagship initiative of the current provincial government. Objection to plea for Imran's parole stays
The Islamabad High Court on Friday issued its written order on a petition filed by Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur for release of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan on parole, saying that the objections raised by the Registrar Office were still unaddressed. CM Gandapur had moved the application for the release of Imran, who had been convicted in the £190 million case, could be targeted by Indian drones while in Adiala jail. The petition was heard by the IHC Acting Chief Justice Sardar Sarfaraz Dogar. The Registrar Office raised the objections that application was not filed by the convict himself and asked how could such a relief be sought for another person. Second, the office said that the person for whom the relief was sought had not been made party to the case. Imran was convicted in the reference moved by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB). The Registrar Office also said that in the petition, Nab had also not been made a party to the case, in the application for the parole release of a convicted person.

Gandapur links tech jobs to certification
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur on Wednesday directed a series of measures to revamp technical and vocational education in the province, linking future government recruitment of technical personnel to certified qualifications. He also urged accelerated progress on economic zones to boost industrial activity. Presiding over a key review meeting on the Annual Development Program (ADP) at the Chief Minister's Secretariat, the chief minister assessed the progress of projects under the Industries Department. The meeting was attended by relevant cabinet members, the additional chief secretary for planning, concerned administrative secretaries and other officials. The chief minister directed the authorities to pay special attention to the technical and vocational education sector, saying that substantial investment was required to provide employment opportunities for the youth. He instructed that the existing technical training system be aligned with the demands of national and international job markets. He also directed the establishment of an endowment fund to provide scholarships to students in the field of technical education. In order to enable youth to secure employment in international job markets, the chief minister ordered work on the international certification of technical training programs. He also directed the launch of programs for the availability of master trainers to ensure the provision of quality technical training. Furthermore, he instructed that the linkages between technical training institutions and local industries be strengthened and improved. The chief minister made it clear that technical certification should be mandatory for the recruitment of technical staff in government departments. "No technical personnelsuch as plumbers, electricians, or driversshould be recruited without a recognised certificate," he said. "Hiring unqualified candidates for technical positions is a violation of the rights of certified individuals," he said, adding that all departments must amend relevant rules and regulations for this purpose. He warned that violations will result in action against the responsible officials. The chief minister also emphasised special attention to projects for economic and industrial zones to promote industrial and commercial activities in the province. He directed authorities to accelerate the pace of work on ongoing projects for establishing economic and industrial zones, and to propose new projects at suitable locations. He noted that promoting industries could create job opportunities for the people, and steps must be taken to attract private investment. "There are vast opportunities for investment in the industrial sector of the province and the provincial government will provide all possible facilities to investors interested in investing in the province," he said. He added that the current provincial government was working to simplify the investment process and provide all necessary facilities under one roof. In addition, Gandapur said the provincial government was also taking steps to supply electricity generated from its own projects to local industries at affordable rates.
