Why error-prone Sanchez can win Premier League Golden Glove
Our expert analyses William Hill's Premier League Golden Glove market for the 2025-26 season and tips a 12/1 outsider to claim the prize. Already a William Hill member? Premier League 2025-26 – Golden Glove tip Deep dive makes Sanchez No.1 choice For the second successive season, Arsenal's David Raya claimed the Golden Glove last term, sharing it with Matz Sels of Nottingham Forest, who also racked up 13 clean sheets at Nottingham Forest. With Arsenal again expected to challenge for the title, Raya is 6/4 favourite to repeat the feat. But it is worth noting Raya benefited from playing a full 38 league games last term and may not have that luxury again, especially with Kepa Arrizabalaga waiting in the wings. Liverpool's Alisson will attract attention at 2/1 after recording 10 clean sheets in just 28 matches last term, but the Reds will surely place emphasis on their improved attacking firepower this term and may leak more goals than the market suggests. The Brazilian at least looks better value than compatriot Ederson, who is 9/4 but could face serious competition at Manchester City from summer signing James Trafford, who is a 5/1 shot himself. All things considered, this could be a market in which it is worth diving deeper for value. Sign up here with William Hill Chelsea Fans aren't ready for the remontada Robert Sanchez is going to have for us. Already an elite shot-stopper, cross claimer, long passer, just a few issues to iron out. He's a much better Goalkeeper than people like to admit, but you will have to admit it soon. — Ta🧢 (@Tiamcfc) July 30, 2025 Chelsea keeper can silence doubters There have been times when Robert Sanchez's performances at Chelsea have bordered on comedic and it critics have suggested he may be better suited to a club in the lower echelons of the top flight. But even though it was a turbulent season for the former Brighton man, Sanchez still managed 10 clean sheets – only three fewer than Raya and Sels – and his 76.4 per cent save percentage was the best in the division. Sanchez also faced 127 shots on target – more than the likes of Guglielmo Vicario, Alisson, Raya and Ederson – so his stats are not bad given how often he was called into action. Shot-stopper benefits from summer boost Psychological barriers can be huge for goalkeepers and Sanchez should be feeling more confident in his abilities after this summer's Club World Cup. Chelsea defied expectations to lift the trophy and Sanchez played an integral part, saving 22 of the 27 shots on target he faced in the tournament, giving him an 81.5 per cent rate that was the best in the tournament. He also made six saves in the Club World Cup final against Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain and that display could be a sign of things to come in the Premier League this season. Chelsea have been well backed in a few outright markets this term, but one of the best ways to get behind them could be to bet on first-choice keeper Sanchez to win the Golden Glove at 12/1. Goalkeeper Mike Penders was drafted in from Genk this summer but has already been loaned out to Strasbourg and Filip Jorgensen is likely to play second fiddle to Sanchez in the league. Arne Slot explains Alisson exit as Liverpool keeper becomes third Reds star to leave tour
Alisson Becker has left Liverpool's pre-season tour of Asia for personal reasons, with the goalkeeper returning to Brazil before the Reds' friendly clash with Yokohama F Marinos Liverpool boss Arne Slot has explained why goalkeeper Alisson Becker has left the club's pre-season tour of Asia. Alisson returned home to Brazil ahead of Liverpool's friendly match against Yokohama F Marinos in Tokyo. The reigning Premier League champions were beaten 4-2 by AC Milan in Hong Kong on Saturday, before travelling to Japan to face Yokohama F Marinos. However, Alisson missed that game and new signing Giorgi Mamardashvili started instead of him. "He had to go back to Brazil for private reasons," Slot told club media ahead of the game. "That's far from ideal – first of all for the private reasons, second of all for him to not be there in a game like this and in pre-season it's also not ideal if you miss out on part of the pre-season. "But again, private life is more important in these matters than joining a game today." Alisson is the third Liverpool player to have left their pre-season tour, with defender Joe Gomez the first to depart after he suffered a minor Achilles injury before the game against Milan. Slot, though, is confident Gomez will be back in action soon. Speaking after the loss to Milan, Slot said: "I'm looking to my left (at Virgil van Dijk), I don't think we have a concern at centre-back. In terms of depth, Ryan showed today that he can play that position. He did it last season as well. "But although we all know that we favour him as a central midfielder. Wata (Endo) can also play centre-back. Joe Gomez only has a minor injury. He's been good for us last season as well. We have enough options left but it's true that Jarell Quansah left and we haven't replaced him." Luis Diaz also left the squad on Monday, having said his goodbyes before flying out to Germany to complete his £65m move to Bayern Munich. "I'm very happy, it means a lot to me to be part of FC Bayern," Diaz said after the deal was confirmed. "They're one of the biggest clubs in the world. I want to help my new team with my way of playing football and my character. My goal is to win every possible title, and that's what we'll work for every day as a team." Bayern's sporting director Christoph Freund added: "Luis creates a real goal threat and is a scorer, who at the same time works incredibly hard for his team. He's quick, a versatile footballer and brings an intense style of play to the game. "He's also gained a lot of experience at the top level with Liverpool and the Colombian national team. Luis Diaz represents a complete package that will thrill our fans."
