ESPN proposes much-needed Indiana Fever trade deadline acquisition
As the WNBA's Aug. 7 trade deadline looms, ESPN shared moves it believes should be made throughout the league, including the Indiana Fever adding skill and scoring depth. In the article, ESPN proposes the Fever acquiring Dallas Wings forward Myisha Hines-Allen in exchange for center Damiris Dantas and a 2026 second-round pick. Here's what ESPN said about the proposed flip: After shooting 36% on 3s last season, split between the Mystics and Lynx, Hines-Allen is down to 30% this season. Since Hines-Allen is a career 35% shooter, improvement should be expected. Even that down season from Hines-Allen has been better beyond the arc than Dantas, shooting 26.5% (34% career but just 31% since 2021). As a third post behind starters Aliyah Boston and Natasha Howard, Hines-Allen should be an improvement. And with the Wings five games out of the eighth seed, getting anything in return would probably make this trade worth it. - Kevin Pelton, ESPN While Hines-Allen scored 7.8 points per game on 49.2% shooting from the field and 36% from 3-point territory last season in her combined stints with the Washington Mystics and Minnesota Lynx, she has taken a dip in those numbers this year as the eighth-year forward has shot just 46.7% from the field and 29.6% from 3-point territory for the lowly Wings. Given the Fever's need for another consistent scorer behind starters Kelsey Mitchell and Aliyah Boston with Caitlin Clark sidelined, Hines-Allen would be a significant improvement on the offensive end. Although Indiana has recently seen quality scoring depth off the bench from players like Lexie Hull, Sophie Cunningham, and Makayla Timpson, the team can ill-afford to be complacent as they make their second-half push towards the WNBA playoffs. As for who they would be giving up in the hypothetical transaction, the Fever send forward Damiris Dantas, who has served as a decent reserve player this season for Indiana. Despite missing time due to being named to Brazil's 2025 FIBA Women's AmeriCup roster this past June, Dantas has averaged 4.6 points per game on 33.3% shooting from the floor and 26.5% accuracy from long range in 20 games played. Fever star Aliyah Boston's honest admission on Caitlin Clark's absence
The post Fever star Aliyah Boston's honest admission on Caitlin Clark's absence appeared first on ClutchPoints. The Indiana Fever suffered another tough blow to an already challenging campaign when Caitlin Clark reaggravated her groin injury last week. Clark was forced to sit out the All-Star Game at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Sunday, leaving fans disappointed, especially since it's the first time the midseason showcase was held in Indianapolis. With the 23-year-old star out again, Indiana will have to hold down the fort. But it's easier said than done, especially since opponents will now zero in on other players. For Aliyah Boston, the Fever must step up on offense to fill in the void left by Clark. 'I think it changes our offense a little bit, where some teams are going to be a little more back, depending on matchups on the floor. I think we space the floor really well. Everything changes when we hit shots,' said Boston in a report from Indianapolis Star's Chloe Peterson. Clark is averaging 16.5 points and a team-high 8.8 assists. She's the focal point of the Fever's offense as almost everything runs through her. With her absence, her teammates should get more chances to contribute. 'Obviously, Caitlin's a fantastic passer, but I think if we figure out, once again, different ways to get everyone that needs to touch the ball and when and where. So we just continue to trust our offense and let it flow,' added the 23-year-old Boston, who's putting up 15.6 points. Kelsey Mitchell leads the Fever in scoring with 19.1 points. Aside from her, Clark, and Boston—the team's All-Star trio—four other players are averaging at least seven points. There is no timetable yet for Clark's return. Fever coach Stephanie White said the do-it-all guard will seek additional opinions from other doctors. White added that they're taking it one day at a time. Clark had already missed five games due to her groin injury. Indiana, sitting on a 12-11 record, will take on the New York Liberty on Tuesday. Fever's Aliyah Boston reaches milestone amid Caitlin Clark's absence
The post Fever's Aliyah Boston reaches milestone amid Caitlin Clark's absence appeared first on ClutchPoints. Caitlin Clark continues to battle woes on the injury front, missing yet another game for the Indiana Fever due to a groin issue. On Tuesday, the Fever had as difficult of a matchup as it can get in a battle against the reigning champion New York Liberty, and despite valiant efforts from both Kelsey Mitchell and Aliyah Boston, Indiana did not have enough to triumph on the road, taking a 98-84 loss. Clark is such a huge threat for the Fever that it's very difficult for them to get into a rhythm on offense. They finished the night with a 41.9 percent field-goal percentage, which simply wasn't enough against a Liberty team that was firing on all cylinders on Tuesday. New York, in fact, had six different scorers reach double figures — an incredible balance in scoring load. Nonetheless, Boston, the Fever center, did try her best to will Indiana to victory lane. She certainly did her part, dropping 15 points, 12 rebounds, and six assists while shooting 7-13 from the field, and in so doing, managed to reach a notable milestone. On the night, she managed to score the 1,500th point of her career, as pointed out by the official Fever account on X (formerly Twitter). She entered the night in need of just four more points to reach the 1,500-point club, and she managed to accomplish that early on by making a layup with 3:33 left in the first quarter. This contributed to a strong start from the Fever, as they kept in step with the Liberty for the first 30 minutes of the ballgame. They even had the lead at halftime. But Indiana ran out of steam in the fourth, with New York feeding off of the crowd's energy to pull away with a 29-17 fourth quarter. Fever lose two in a row vs. Liberty amid Caitlin Clark's injury Clark has been battling a plethora of injury problems this season; she has missed 11 games for the Fever already this season after suiting up in all 40 games in her rookie campaign. This was definitely not how she envisioned her sophomore campaign would unfold. The Fever, at the very least, have remained near the .500 mark, which is a testament to the improved roster around Clark. Boston and Mitchell did their best to step up amid Clark's absence, but for Indiana to take that next step as a title-contender, they will need Clark to be at her healthiest come playoff time.
