Why Pakistan's response to Operation Sindoor could depend on China
Why Pakistan's response to Operation Sindoor could depend on China Alka Dhupkar & Arun George TNN Updated: May 7, 2025, 21:47 IST A strategic affairs expert explains what could guide Pakistan's response to India and why China's decisions in the coming days will be an important factor in any potential escalation. India's success in carrying out nine strikes deep in Pakistan as part of ' Operation Sindoor ' is 'significant' in the country's response to terrorism and backers of terrorism, a strategic affairs expert said. Pakistan has said it will strike back at Indian targets of its choosing and Commodore (retd) C Uday Bhaskar says the Pakistan Army's decisions will be based on its need to protect its image at home. In response to the late night strikes by India that killed over 30, Pakistan responded with artillery fire along the border in Jammu and Kashmir killing at least 12 Indians. Despite multiple nations attempting to get both nations to bring down tensions, Commodore Bhaskar said that Pakistan's decision will be decided by China, which is the only nation that can provide meaningful support to the country.

Is the RSS chief serious about eradicating caste system?
Is the RSS chief serious about eradicating caste system? Alka Dhupkar TNN May 1, 2025, 20:18 IST The RSS chief's call for 'one temple, one well, one crematorium' for all Indians is just what the country needs in these fractious times. But is he and his organisation serious about it? In a recent speech in Aligarh, the head of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh ( RSS ), Mohan Bhagwat , called on volunteers of the organisation to work towards ending deep-rooted social discrimination and to ensure social harmony. He suggested that one way to achieve this was to have 'one temple, one well, one crematorium' for all Indians. The speech isn't available in the public domain, but source-based news reports suggested that Bhagwat was advocating for the end of caste system and caste-based discrimination.
