1 49ers draft pick unsigned as rookies report to training camp
It's been a long offseason, but NFL teams are back in the building this week for the start of training camp, and for the San Francisco 49ers, they welcomed their rookies to their SAP Performance Facility next to Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California, on Tuesday. While the 49ers are ready to fully kick off camp when veterans arrive Tuesday, July 22, they still have some business to take care of, including rookie defensive lineman Alfred Collins' contract. Entering training camp, Collins is the team's lone unsigned draft pick of their 11-player class, but following a fascinating trend around the league, he's one of 30 second-round picks in the 2025 NFL draft that have yet to put pen to paper. Collins, 23, was a five-star recruit out of Cedar Creek High School in Cedar Creek, Texas, before committing to the University of Texas ahead of the 2020 season. In five years with the Longhorns, he appeared in 64 games, recording 141 tackles (18 for a loss), 12 passes defensed, seven sacks, two forced fumbles and an interception. He also earned All-SEC and All-American honors in 2024. At this point, Collins isn't considered a holdout, considering he's not under contract. However, when he does eventually sign, he'll be competing for a top spot in the interior of San Francisco's defensive line along with veterans Jordan Elliott and Kevin Givens and 2025 fourth-round pick C.J. West. Missing time in training camp could keep him from taking on an important role, especially early in the season. If the 49ers are looking to get Collins locked in sooner rather than later, they should be offering more guaranteed money, as that seems to be the holdup for these second-round rookie deals. The only second-round picks from the 2025 NFL draft to sign their deals thus far are Houston Texans wide receiver and Cleveland Browns linebacker Carson Schwesinger, who both received fully guaranteed entry-level contracts earlier this offseason. Should the Ravens give Mike Green a fully guaranteed four-year rookie contract?
Mike Green is one of 30 second-round picks from the 2025 NFL draft still unsigned, and Adam Schefter reports guaranteed money could be the holdup. The 2025 NFL draft concluded over seventy days ago, and while most of the first-round picks and late-round picks have signed, there are thirty-second-round picks that are still unsigned, with less than a week to go before training camps kick off around the league for all 32 teams. Baltimore selected All-American pass rusher Mike Green with pick No. 59, and reports are that the former Marshall star pass rusher and 29 other second-round picks are haggling over guaranteed money on the standard four-year deal. First-round picks usually have guaranteed four-year deals with a potential fifth-year option, but up until this past April, fully guaranteed contracts weren't the norm for second-round picks. That all changed when the Texans gave Jayden Higgins, the 34th overall pick, the first fully guaranteed contract ever for a second-round pick on May 8. On May 9, the Browns followed suit, offering Carson Schwesinger, the 33rd overall pick in the second round, a fully guaranteed contract as well. Schefter reports that since then, no second-round picks have signed. Los Angeles Chargers second-round rookie wide receiver Tre Harris may be a training camp holdout and could well be the first in an unprecedented number after he did not report on Saturday -- the deadline for rookies -- NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported. NFL teams have no problem colluding against guaranteed contracts, and Green could miss time entering training camp if a deal isn't reached. It's a touchy scenario for Baltimore, which had an urgent need for more explosion at the edge rusher position, so they landed the draft's most talented but questionable prospect. Last season, as a redshirt sophomore, Green led the FBS in sacks (17.0), tackles for loss (22.5), sack yardage (144), and tackles by a defensive lineman (84). His 17 sacks established a new Sun Belt Conference record.

David Corenswet's ‘flawless' movies prove he's the perfect Superman
Excited for Superman and already want to see more of breakout star David Corenswet? Two of his best roles are currently streaming Superman star David Corenswet is about to become a household name as he takes on the iconic Man of Steel in James Gunn's new DC Universe reboot. The new blockbuster hitting the big screen this Friday (11th July) features the powerful All-American hero taking on numerous threats while trying to hold true to his principles of truth and justice. While his romance with star reporter Lois Lane (played by Rachel Brosnahan) starts to blossom, his nemesis Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult) will stop at nothing to bring the hero down to his level. With all the buzz surrounding the latest superhero blockbuster, two of Corenswet's previous films that prove he's the right man for the job are currently available to stream. Pearl While this period horror film is worlds away from Superman, Corenswet gives an effortlessly charming performance opposite Mia Goth that made fans fall in love with him well before he was cast as Clark Kent. A prequel to Ti West's grimy slasher film X, this unconventional thriller stars Goth as a young aspiring actress who goes on a rampage when she misses out on a starring role. Corenswet portrays an unnamed projectionist who befriends Pearl before she unleashes her darker side. One five-star review said of the film: 'I didn't expect anything nearly as good as this. Flawlessly innovative and brave film-making.' Corenswet's brief yet memorable role was clearly a highlight for fans and critics alike, with calling him 'dashing' and notes he 'makes [Pearl] feel like a movie star', qualities the star certainly needs for his romantic scenes with Lois Lane. raved: 'This is a very strong performance by David Corenswet. I never quite got a handle on who this character is, and I think that air of mystery is intentional.' And a fan on X (formerly Twitter) said: 'David Corenswet as Superman is near perfect casting. Just from watching Pearl, I can totally pick up on some solid Clark/Superman vibes. I would fully endorse this.' While one Reddit user even claimed: 'Not even joking when I watched this in theaters with a friend I whispered to her and said 'he would make such a good Clark Kent'.' Pearl is available to stream on Netflix Twisters Shortly after Pearl, Corenswet joined the all-star cast of Twisters, the Lee Isaac Chung-directed sequel to the 1996 cult classic Twister. More than living up to the legacy of the original, fans were blown away by the thrilling disaster flick, with a five-star Google review saying they 'absolutely loved every minute'. And someone else agreed: 'From the very first frame to the credits rolling, this film had me absolutely hooked! I've watched it multiple times now, and honestly, it just gets better with each viewing.' Taking on a more antagonistic role this time around, the Superman star portrays Scott, one of the crew members in the more corporate team of storm chasers who butt heads with YouTuber Tyler Owens (played by Glen Powell), known as the Tornado Wrangler, and his posse. Although Scott's rather smug demeanour is definitely not befitting of Superman, the role showcases Corenswet's range as an actor and proves he'll have it in him if the franchise ever decides to go a darker route with the superhero. Moreover, a touching behind-the-scenes video of the cast of Twisters celebrating Corenswet landing the role proves just how popular he was amongst his co-stars. With endless charisma and bucketfuls of talent, Corenswet seems destined to become an A-list star once comic book fans finally witness his debut as the beloved superhero. Twisters is available to stream on Sky Go and NOW.

49ers EDGE draws massive respect in exec, coach, scout positional rankings for 2025
The San Francisco 49ers have a ton of talented players on their roster, but defensive end Nick Bosa may be the best that they send out each week. Bosa, 27, played collegiately at Ohio Sate from 2016-18, winning Big Ten Defensive Lineman of the Year and earning All-Big Ten and All-American honors in 2017. The 49ers took him in the first round (No. 2 overall) of the 2019 NFL draft, and since then he's racked up five Pro Bowls, one All-Pro selection, a Defensive Rookie of the Year Award and Defensive Player of the Year Award. He's also totaled 261 tackles (87 for a loss), 165 quarterback hits, 62.5 sacks, 11 forced fumbles, nine passes defensed, four fumble recoveries and two interceptions. On Wednesday, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler released the results of his annual EDGE rankings with votes from NFL executives, coaches and scouts. In that poll, Bosa was ranked as the fifth-best EDGE in the league. "His leverage, explosiveness, power and polished rush arsenal are unmatched," an NFL personnel director said. "He has the same rush moves as [brother] Joey Bosa but with better play strength to win in a variety of ways." Ahead of Bosa in these rankings are Cleveland's Myles Garrett, Pittsburgh's T.J. Watt, Dallas' Micah Parsons and Las Vegas' Maxx Crosby while Cincinnati's Trey Hendrickson, Detroit's Aidan Hutchinson, Houston's Will Anderson, Houston's Danielle Hunter and Los Angeles' Jared Verse round out the top 10. Bosa was ranked fourth in the league heading into 2024, but he missed three games last season and finished with his fewest quarterback hits and sacks since 2020 when he played in just two games due to a torn ACL. The 49ers are going to need Bosa to be the best version of himself if they want to succeed in 2025, and if he can accomplish that feat, he could move back up in these rankings ahead of the 2026 NFL season. Oklahoma football announces three players headed to SEC Media Days
Southeastern Conference Football Media Days are the unofficial start of the college football season, and with them just around the corner, next week in Atlanta, preseason prognostications are heating up. Oklahoma is set to go on Wednesday as the last team of the day, following Alabama, Florida, and Mississippi State. Coach Brent Venables will open the proceedings for the Sooners on the dais with a press conference for the league's assembled media. On Tuesday, OU announced which three players would join their coach. Quarterback John Mateer, defensive back Robert Spears-Jennings, and defensive lineman R Mason Thomas will serve as the Sooners' player representatives in Atlanta. Each will make the rounds individually following Venables' remarks on Tuesday. Mateer will likely draw the biggest crowd. The transfer from Washington State holds the key to Oklahoma's offensive turnaround. The Sooners ranked 113th out of 134 teams in FBS in total offense last year. Mateer, meanwhile, led the country in total touchdowns, throwing for 29 and rushing for another 15 with the Cougars. That season made him one of the top recruits in the transfer portal, from which he chose to join former WSU offensive coordinator Ben Arbuckle back in Norman after Venables hired Arbuckle from Pullman. Thomas, the most established player, was named preseason All-American earlier this summer by both Athlon Sports and Phil Steele. His nine sacks led OU and tied him for fifth in the SEC last year, and his 12 1/2 tackles for loss ranked him in a tie for fifth in the conference. Spears-Jennings finished second on the team in tackles last year with 66, five of which came for loss. The Broken Arrow native added two sacks and an interception, as well. SEC Football Media Days begins Monday morning when LSU coach Brian Kelly takes the stage. Oklahoma's football season starts August 30 at home against FCS Illinois State.
