Bradley Beal Suns Buyout: Meet the NBA's Newest Big 3

Bradley Beal Suns Buyout: Meet the NBA's Newest Big 3 originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The prolific scorer and celebrated Florida Gators alum has a brand new NBA home after two seasons in Phoenix. A new NBA season will officially mean a fresh start for veteran shooting guard Bradley Beal -- and he'll have the pleasure of joining another superstar big three out west. After rumors swirled for months about a possible breakup of the Phoenix Suns' power trio of Beal, Kevin Durant, and Devin Booker, the first shoe dropped in June just ahead of the NBA Draft when Durant found himself shipped to the Houston Rockets. Now, the Slim Reaper's former teammate has a new home himself. As first reported by ESPN insider Shams Charania, Beal agreed Wednesday to a buyout with the Suns, ending the titanic five-year, $251 million deal he signed as a member of the Washington Wizards two years early -- and that the celebrated former Florida Gator immediately cleared waivers and signed with a rival team in free agency. Mark it down: Bradley Beal is the newest member of the Los Angeles Clippers. Beal, the Washington Wizards' No. 3 overall pick in the 2012 NBA Draft out of Florida, spent the first 11 seasons of his career in the nation's capital. He averaged 21.5 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game with the Wiz, earning three All-Star selections and a 2021 All-NBA Third Team nod. Following the 2021-22 season, he became just the second player in league history after Denver'sNikola Jokić to sign a contract worth more than a quarter of a billion dollars. Just one year later, he was dealt to the Suns to chase championship dreams at long last, but the ambitious team up with D-Book and KD didn't pan out as fans in the Valley hoped. Phoenix was swept in the first round of the 2024 NBA Playoffs by the Minnesota Timberwolves and missed the postseason entirely this year, limping to the finish line with a 36-46 record. All told, injuries limited Beal to just 106 games in two seasons in a Suns jersey. To his credit, he toughed it out, averaging 17.6 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 4.3 assists on 50.5% shooting from the field with the team. Now, a new chapter begins in Inglewood as part of another big three alongside future Hall of Famers James Harden and Kawhi Leonard. Let's take a closer look at Bradley Beal's contract with the LA Clippers, who finished last season 50-32 and earned the No. 5 playoff seed in the Western Conference. Bradley Beal to sign with Clippers: What contract means for LA and rest of NBA

The Oklahoma City Thunder just became one of the youngest teams to win an NBA championship. The Los Angeles Clippers are trying to become one of the oldest. The Clippers plan to sign a two-year deal with Bradley Beal, who on Wednesday, July 16 secured a buyout with the Phoenix Suns to become a free agent and sign with a new team. Beal must clear waivers first, but that's just a formality. No team will claim him — and the two years, $110.7 million remaining on his contract. The Clippers have had an intriguing offseason and assembled a talented — and older — roster. They re-signed James Harden, 35, and Nic Batum, 36, and will add Beal, 32. They also signed Brook Lopez, 37, and still have Kawhi Leonard, 34. They also acquired John Collins via trade to a roster that also includes Ivica Zubac, Bogdan Bogdanovic, Kris Dunn and Derrick Jones Jr. What does Beal deal mean for the Clippers? The Clippers were 50-32 last season and lost in the first round of the playoffs to the Denver Nuggets in seven games. They had a 2-1 series lead and lost Game 4, 101-99, on Aaron Gordon's dunk as time expired in the fourth quarter. They are an experienced, deep and talented team. For 2025-26, they lost scoring with Norman Powell's departure, but make up for it with the additions of Beal (a low-cost, high-reward replacement for Powell) and Collins, and will be strong defensively after finishing No. 3 on that side of the court last season. Considering their No. 15 offense, the Clippers had the No. 5 net rating. Harden had a bounce-back season, Zubac had a breakout season and Leonard when healthy (he played in 37 games last season) remains an All-NBA level player. The Clippers will be a difficult matchup in the regular season and playoffs, especially if healthy. Deep and versatile rule the game in the NBA right now, and the Clippers have that. What does the Clippers' starting lineup look like? Starters Key reserves What does Beal deal for the Western Conference? The West is loaded, and it will be difficult to emerge as the conference champion — even for the 2024-25 champion Oklahoma City, which needed two seven-games series to win the title. The Clippers made it more difficult with their offseason moves. Looking at the West, considering what the Thunder, Denver and Houston did, there are six teams — maybe more — who could reach the finals.

2 Sacramento Kings Legends Land on All-Time NBA Greats List

2 Sacramento Kings Legends Land on All-Time NBA Greats List originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Sacramento Kings have had many legendary players over the course of their franchise's history. Of course, the Kings have only one championship to their name, which came in 1951 when they were still the Rochester Royals. Despite the Kings' struggles over their franchise's history, they have produced a quite a few franchise legends and two of them made it onto Bleacher Report's list of the top 100 players in NBA history. The two players who made bleacher Report's list are Chris Weber, who was the 90th ranked player, and Oscar Robertson, who was ranked No. 14. For Webber, he dominated the first five seasons of his career with both the Golden State Warriors and Washington Bullets, now the Washington Wizards, but he turned into a superstar after being traded to Sacramento in 1998. In Sacramento, Webber blossomed into a star as he made four All-Star teams and was also a five-time All-NBA selection. Despite his success, the Kings were never able to make it over the hump and into the NBA Finals, mainly due to the dominance of the Los Angeles Lakers and San Antonio Spurs. While Webber found success in Sacramento, Robertson is known as arguably the greatest Kings player in the history of their franchise, though his career was spent went they were still known as the Cincinnati Royals. Robertson got off to a fast start in his career, winning Rookie of the Year and finishing fifth in the MVP race his rookie season. He then went on to win one MVP award during his career with the Kings and was also a 10-time All-Star and 10-time All-NBA selection and he also became the first player in league history to averaged a triple-double throughout the entirety of a season in 1961-62. Of course, Robertson left the Kings for the Milwaukee Bucks to join Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in 1970 where he won the only championship of his career. While these are the only two players the Kings had representing them on Bleacher Report's list, they hope that some of their current stars can eventually make it in the future. NBA reporter reveals which team ‘all signs pointing to' Bradley Beal signing with

The Phoenix Suns are negotiating a buyout with All-Star guard Bradley Beal, allowing the veteran to enter NBA free agency once an agreement is reached. While he'll be on the open market, there is already a favorite to sign him. Appearing on Sactown Sports 1140, senior NBA writer Sam Amick of The Athletic said he expects a resolution on a buyout within the next week, with 'all signs pointing' to Beal signing with the Los Angeles Clippers. Read More: Bradley Beal stats (): 17 PPG, 3.7 APG, 3.3 RPG, 1.1 SPG, 49.7% FG, 38.6% 3PT Phoenix had been hoping to trade Beal, at one point discussing a deal with the Miami Heat. It quickly became evident, as it was during the club's attempts at the NBA trade deadline, that an agreement could not be reached. With a trade off the table, negotiating a buyout became the Suns' only avenue to remove Beal from the roster. While the 32-year-old guard is happy in Phoenix, a buyout will still provide him with a significant portion of the remainder of his contract, and he will get to play for a team of his choosing next season. However, Miami acquired guard Norman Powell from the Clippers, taking out one top suitor. Beal would immediately slide into the Clippers' starting backcourt alongside James Harden. While Los Angeles can only offer Beal a $5.3 million salary for the 2025-26 season, the majority of what he makes will be paid by Phoenix. Jayson Tatum reportedly recruiting 7x All-NBA player to Boston Celtics

After tearing his Achilles tendon in the Boston Celtics' Eastern Conference Semifinals playoff matchup against the New York Knicks, chances are Jayson Tatum will miss all of the upcoming season. Yet, that's reportedly not stopping the Celtics' franchise cornerstone from trying to get his team more help. According to the Boston Globe's Gary Washburn, Tatum has been busy trying to recruit former Milwaukee Bucks point guard Damian Lillard to join the Celtics this offseason. It's an interesting connection, considering the two previously shared the floor for Team USA, but are now bonded by the star duo's ongoing recovery from a torn Achilles tendon. 'According to NBA sources, Tatum has been active in recruiting Lillard to Boston, and the market for the point guard is limited because his injury will prevent him from likely playing most of next season. Lillard sustained his injury on April 27, 15 days prior to Tatum's injury.' Boston Globe on Damian Lillard/Jayson Tatum While Lillard likely won't be playing during the upcoming regular season either, he's expected to prioritize the opportunity to land with another contending team after falling short of his goals with Milwaukee. Advertisement Being that Boston has a pair of All-NBA talents in Tatum and Jaylen Brown, the Celtics would appear to be as good a fit as any other opportunity for Lillard. Plus, without an established star point guard in Boston, Lillard should have a starting role waiting for him, as soon as he can prove to be healthy again.
