He Was In Illicit Affair With ‘Chachi' Who Had 4-Yr-Old Girl. Yrs Later He Raped That Same ‘Baby' Cousin

Last Updated: Police say a 33-year-old man was arrested for killing his aunt's daughter on the same day she tied him a Rakhi. Raksha Bandhan is a festival that honours the bond between brothers and sisters, but an incident from Auraiya district in Uttar Pradesh has shocked many. Police say a 33-year-old man was arrested for killing his aunt's daughter on the same day she tied him a Rakhi. As per the investigation, after the celebration, the man, reportedly under the influence of alcohol, assaulted his nephew while she was asleep and later strangled her. Amar Ujala reports also revealed that the accused had also been involved with the victim's mother ten years earlier. Over the years, their strained relationship had created disputes between the two families. The family tried to separate the two, but neither agreed to change their behaviour. Almost eight years ago, the family decided to marry the accused to a woman from Etawah, which created more distance between him and his aunt. During the investigation, the man admitted this. He also told officers that his uncle suffers from a respiratory illness. Recalling events from 2015, when he was 23 years old, he said his aunt, who is the mother of the teenage girl, had once called him to her home for some work. During that time, the accused and his aunt began a physical relationship, which went on for two years. Due to his regular visits, family members started to suspect something and his uncle caught them together. The family tried to make them end the relationship, but they refused and in 2017, the man married another woman. After this, both families stopped speaking to each other about the matter. Meanwhile, the girl's father had filed a police complaint against him and five others. Bidhuna Kotwal Mukesh Babu Chauhan explained that the accused and the teenage girl were from the same community, which had only seven families living in their village. On the night of Raksha Bandhan, when the crime took place, the accused's wife was away in her parents' home in Etawah, along with their two children. During the postmortem, hairs were found in the teenager's nails and hands. Police have collected these samples to compare them with the 33-year-old man's hair. The samples have been sent to the forensic science lab in Jhansi for the DNA tests. Investigators are confident that this evidence will help ensure justice for the victim and they will will be able to punish the man soon. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Thirty-six persons returning from church prayers were attacked on Sunday in a village in Chhattisgarh's Kanker district by a group of people who objected to allegedly unlawful religious conversions, The Statesman reported. On August 10, eight Christian families were returning to their homes after prayers when they were attacked by other residents of the village, Amar Ujala reported. One of them, Hitesh Kumar, alleged that his mother, Shanti Bai Darro was brutally assaulted by the group. 'We were targeted because of our faith,' he told The Statesman. 'The entire village turned on us.' Simon Digbal Tandi, the state secretary of the Rashtriya Christian Morcha, has claimed that another woman besides Darro was also in a critical condition while another person, identified as Jageshwar Usendi, suffered a ruptured eardrum. Tandi futher alleged that the local police station did not register a first information report in the matter, prompting the complainants to approach the superintendent of police on Monday. Kanker Superintendent of Police IK Elesela has said a 'detailed investigation' is being conducted in the matter after two groups lodged complaints about the incident. 'An FIR will be filed once the preliminary inquiry is complete,' he was quoted as saying by The Statesman.

Uttar Pradesh: Missing sisters return to Muzaffarnagar home with a twist no one saw coming

In Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar, two cousin sisters who had gone missing from their families returned home after several days with a twist straight out of a Bollywood movie. According to an Amar Ujala report, the missing sisters returned dressed as bride and groom, respectively, and declared that they had married each other and now wished to live together. Two sisters went missing from their homes in neighbouring Muzaffarnagar villages. The father of one of the girls filed a complaint, fearing for his daughter's well-being. In his statement, he alleged that his daughter was lured away by her cousin, who lived in neighbouring Titawi village, expressing suspicion that his daughter might 'have been sold" somewhere. The complaint reached Lucknow, following which the police launched an investigation. According to Amar Ujala, Lucknow police were able to contact the missing girl and assured her that she would be given security if she came forward. On August 7, the two girls walked into the police station. One was reportedly dressed as a groom, while the other had sindoor (vermilion) applied in the parting of her hair. Their relatives were present when the pair arrived at the police station. The girls said they had been in love with each other for over a year and had decided to spend the rest of their lives together. Therefore, they said, they married in a temple before coming to the police station. According to the report, the younger of the two is now living as a boy and has completed Class 12, while the 'bride' sister studied until Class 10. The girls also assured their family and the police that they took a long time to talk things out and 'developed an understanding' before making the decision to be together. The girl said that earlier they were 'sisters", but now they consider themselves 'companions'. Relatives tried to persuade the girls to return home and urged them to reconsider their decision, but they refused to change their minds. Police then escorted them away from the station to ensure their safety.

Punjab Women's Commission summons Yo Yo Honey Singh, Karan Aujla over misogynistic lyrics in Millionaire and MF Gabhru

The Punjab State Women's Commission has launched an inquiry into Punjabi music artists Karan Aujla and Yo Yo Honey Singh for allegedly using derogatory language against women in their songs. Taking suo motu cognizance of the matter, the commission has written to the state Director General of Police (DGP), urging immediate action. Both artists have also been summoned to appear before the commission on Monday, August 11, 2025. The Punjab State Women's Commission has taken strong exception to the lyrics in songs by Punjabi artists Karan Aujla and Yo Yo Honey Singh, citing them as disrespectful towards women. According to a report in Amar Ujala, Commission Chairperson Raj Lali Gill raised serious concerns over the portrayal of women in the songs in question. In her letter to the DGP, she asserted that lyrics in both tracks violate the dignity of women and propagate a disrespectful image of them in popular culture. Gill has requested the police to investigate the matter and submit a detailed report by the same date. The controversy began with the recent release of Karan Aujla's song MF Gabhru, which has already amassed over 34 million views in under a week. Despite its popularity, the track has sparked backlash for lyrics that are being labeled as misogynistic and inappropriate. At the same time, attention has also turned to an older track by Honey Singh titled Millionaire, which the commission says also contains objectionable language that disrespects women. According to the Women's Commission, both songs promote harmful stereotypes and use explicit language that crosses acceptable boundaries. The body emphasized that music is a powerful cultural force and must not be misused to degrade or demean any section of society, especially women. The commission's firm stance reflects growing concerns over the normalization of sexist content in popular music. By demanding accountability from two of the biggest names in the Punjabi music scene, the commission aims to send a clear message that such content will face scrutiny and consequences. As the case develops, all eyes will be on how both artists respond to the notice and what action the police will take based on the commission's request.
