Egypt & Pakistan Discuss Strengthening Bilateral Ties & Health Sector Cooperation

Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Egypt's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population, received Ambassador Amer Shaukat, Pakistan's Ambassador to Cairo, at the Ministry's headquarters in the New Administrative Capital, to discuss ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in the health sector.
During the meeting, Minister Abdel Ghaffar welcomed the Pakistani ambassador and expressed his appreciation for the deep-rooted historical relations between Egypt and Pakistan, praising their role in advancing mutual collaboration and the exchange of expertise.
He affirmed Egypt's commitment to expanding cooperation in the health field to serve the shared interests of both nations.
Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population, explained that the meeting included discussions on public health initiatives, primary healthcare, and medical training.
A key focus was sharing Egypt's successful experience in eliminating hepatitis C with Pakistan.
The talks also addressed supporting Pakistan's efforts to achieve universal health coverage, especially in the areas of early detection and cancer screening, as well as cooperation in vaccination programs and the prevention of infectious diseases, leveraging Egypt's long-standing expertise in these domains.

Minister Abdel Ghaffar stressed the importance of coordinating medical exchange programs, including receiving Pakistani medical delegations in Egypt and sending Egyptian teams to Pakistan to showcase Egypt's success in public health initiatives, thus fostering mutual learning and deeper collaboration.
Ambassador Amer Shaukat, in turn, praised the efficiency of Egypt's healthcare system and its medical professionals. He expressed Pakistan's interest in strengthening partnerships in healthcare services, combating epidemic diseases, and improving health systems in the coming phase.
