Netflix's 'utterly addictive' and 'hysterical' new drama tops charts just hours after release

It has already become Netflix's most-watched TV show Netflix fans are utterly captivated by a fresh drama series that has been hailed as "utterly addictive" and lavished with five-star reviews from critics. Sirens landed on the service just this Thursday (May 22) and has rapidly climbed to the summit of Netflix's leaderboard for the UK's most watched telly programmes at the moment, soaring in popularity mere hours after hitting the platform. ‌ It has now overtaken other compelling titles such as the gripping true crime series Fred and Rose West: A British Horror Story, Love Rat and American Manhunt: Osama Bin Laden. ‌ The series zeroes in on a "bright-but-messy" protagonist, Devon, who embarks on a mission to rescue her sister from her peculiar billionaire boss. The official synopsis reveals: "Devon thinks her sister Simone has a really creepy relationship with her new boss, the enigmatic socialite Michaela Kell. "Michaela's cult-ish life of luxury is like a drug to Simone, and Devon has decided it's time for an intervention, but she has no idea what a formidable opponent Michaela will be. Told over the course of one explosive weekend at The Kells' lavish island estate, Sirens is an incisive, sexy, and darkly funny exploration of women, power, and class." Star-studded performances light up the screen with talents like The White Lotus' Meghann Fahy, House of the Dragon's Milly Alcock, and Academy Award-winner Julianne Moore. The cast is further bolstered by Kevin Bacon (MaXXXine), Glenn Howerton (It's Always Sunny) and Felix Solis (The Forgotten), reports Surrey Live. ‌ The limited series has been created by Molly Smith Metzler, who was also the mind behind Netflix's critically acclaimed drama Maid starring Margaret Qualley. The Guardian heaped praise on the "utterly addictive cult drama" rewarding it five stars, adding: "This endlessly entertaining study in class and family is a witty, star-packed treat that zips through five tight episodes. Here's hoping for a second season." ‌ Audience reactions to Sirens have been equally enthusiastic, with one viewer dubbing it a "10/10" series, and another penning: "Sirens on Netflix is so addictive, they've got me reeled in already, it's not what you think it is at first. I'm on episode 3 of 5 and might watch the whole series in one binge, I have to see how it ends." Another reviewer described the show as "hysterical and brilliant," while another confessed: "Just finished the new Sirens series on Netflix and I loved it." Meanwhile, Rotten Tomatoes currently pegs Sirens at a respectable 73 per cent from critics, with audience approval not far behind at 65 per cent.

Netflix's 'nail biting' new docuseries lands impressive 100% Rotten Tomatoes score

Netflix has released a new gripping miniseries about one infamous terrorist which viewers have hailed as a 'must watch'. A new Netflix documentary currently boasting an impressive 100% Rotten Tomatoes score has taken the streaming platform by storm as it surged up the top TV rankings. American Manhunt: Osama Bin Laden is made by the same creators as American Manhunt: The Boston Marathon bombing and explores the counterterrorism efforts that were put in place by the US in response to the tragic 9/11 attacks. The Netflix mini series explores the lead up of events in the ten years it took to track down and capture Osama Bin Laden, the mastermind behind the terrorist attack. The three-part series pieces together archival footage and talking heads interviews to create a behind-the-scenes look at the governmental decision making at the time. ‌ Directors Daniel Sivan and Mor Loushy explained their aim in making the show was to transport viewers into these rooms in real time, building up from the initial intelligence which hinted an attack was imminent to working out who was responsible and seeking justice. The show aims to ask viewers what they would do in such a situation as the director's explained to Netflix's Tudum: "For us, the best way to understand history is to truly experience it. ‌ "Being thrown into the driver's seat after the worst attack in American history would rattle anyone, even these brave men and women who had devoted their lives to protecting Americans by assessing geopolitical threats and sounding alarms that were often ignored. "But the intelligence analysts didn't have time to grieve or reflect. They had a mission at hand: to figure out who did this and stop them before the next attack." Sivan and Loushy added: "American Manhunt: Osama bin Laden does not tell the story of the United States and the War on Terror. It tells the story of the people tasked to find the world's most wanted terrorist and bring him to justice. It [was] a hunt that changed their lives, America, and the world as we know it." ‌ ‌ The show's third and final episode gives the 2013 Hollywood blockbuster Zero Dark Thirty a run for its money in the its tense recreation of how Osama Bin Laden's compound in Pakistan was raided during the middle of the night by US soldiers on a nighttime operation that was all formed on the basis of a hunch he was inside after years of looking for him. Their mission was successful and Osama Bin laden was finally killed 10 years after 9/11 on May 2 2011. Netflix viewers already shared their reactions to the gripping show, taking to X to praise the direction, the Metro reports. ‌ @RakitaMode remarked: "American Manhunt Osama Bin Laden was a riveting documentary series. Just 3 episodes, most of which I've seen bits and pieces over several documentaries/movies. ‌ "But it was put together so well, especially the 3rd episode was nail biting cinema! Hard hitting! Must watch!" @AngelaBaevis echoed: "That Osama Bin Laden American Manhunt installment is soooo good. 10s to whoever produced & directed it." ‌ Other viewers did point out the one-sided nature of the documentaries, which strongly defended the CIA intelligence officers who spent years looking for Bin laden. @boredpeanutt shared: "Watching the American manhunt for Osama bin Laden on Netflix rn, and it feels like the main point of the show is to make people sympathise with the CIA and the intelligence officers for their years-long intelligence failure. It's an overkill at this point." ‌ @JakeQRyan agreed: "Netflix has released American Manhunt Osama Bin Laden which seems to feature the 'heroic' CIA Officers who worked in Alec Station?? "FBI & Congress blamed those clowns for actively concealing the presence of known Al Qaeda terrorists in USA before the 9/11 attacks. Not heroes. Idiots."

Menendez Brothers' Parole Hearing Delayed To Late Summer; Need 'More Time To Prepare,' Lyle Menendez Says

On the potential cusp of freedom after decades behind bars for the brutal 1989 shotgun murder of their parents, Erik Menendez & Lyle Menendez will have to wait a bit longer it seems to know what their fates are going to be. In a rebuke to LA County District Attorney Nathan Hochman, the Menendez brothers were resentenced on May 13 to 50 years to life, which makes them now eligible for parole. At the much delayed hearing, LA Superior Court Judge Michael Jesic deemed Lyle, 57, and Erik, 54, did not pose 'an unreasonable risk' if they were let out almost 30 years after their 1996 life without parole sentencing. Gavin Newsom earlier this year shifted. 'Since the ruling makes them immediately eligible for parole consideration as youth offenders, it is the Board's intent to convert the June 13, 2025, clemency hearings to initial parole suitability hearings,' Scott Wyckoff of the state Board of Parole Hearings stated last week as the governor withdrew the probes into potential clemency in lieu of Judge Jesic's ruling. Well, June 13 is going to come and go and there won't be any hearings for the Menendezs. Now, the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation says will occur on August 21 and 22. A decision that Lyle Menendez addressed online late Monday The CDCR did not respond to request for comment from Deadline on the postponement. A representative for Menendez lawyers Bryan Freedman and Mark Geragos had no comment on the latest turn of events. Erik and Lyle Menendez are currently both being held at the Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility near San Diego. Even with the change in their sentencing status and those hearings kicked down the line, the siblings' clemency application remains open in the Governor's office, though it is pretty much moot at this point. A true crime media circus back in the early days of George H.W. Bush's presidency, the killing of Jose and Kitty Menendez in their Beverly Hills home by their sons took two trials for a jury to reach a verdict six years after the murders. Though always been discussed somewhere on cable, the Menendez brothers' case came back to center stage due to the success of the Netflix and Ryan Murphy series Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story series and some documentaries claiming new evidence. Though DA Hochman made his doubts clear, the Menendez brothers now insist that their 18- and 21-year-old selves shooting of their parents was self-defense against the alleged ongoing sexual abuse by their record company executive father. Netflix series lands 100% Rotten Tomatoes score as fans say it's 'a must watch'

Netflix viewers are divided after binging the gripping new series that was given a 100% Rotten Tomatoes score A new Netflix docuseries, that currently holds a perfect 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes, has been rocketing up the streaming platform ladder - and fans have two things to say about it. The binge worthy series American Manhunt: Osama Bin Laden has proved to be popular with viewers, especially those who had already watched its sister series American Manhunt: The Boston Marathon Bombing. ‌ It delves into the counterterrorism efforts in the US following the 9/11 attacks, including the manhunt and capture of Osama Bin Laden, the mastermind behind the terrorist attack. ‌ The three-part series has been built using real life footage from the archives while talking to government officials who were in charge of decision making at that time. By using real-life footage, directors Daniel Sivan and Mor Loushy were hoping to create an immersive series, taking viewers on a journey as they witness officials learning an attack on America iss about to happen as they attempt to find the perpetrator. The way in which intelligence is uncovered throughout the series leads viewers to make up their own minds as to what they would do if they ever faced in the situation. Speaking to Netflix Tudum, the directors commented: "For us, the best way to understand history is to truly experience it. Being thrown into the driver's seat after the worst attack in American history would rattle anyone, even these brave men and women who had devoted their lives to protecting Americans by assessing geopolitical threats and sounding alarms that were often ignored." They added: "But the intelligence analysts didn't have time to grieve or reflect. They had a mission at hand: to figure out who did this and stop them before the next attack. ‌ "American Manhunt: Osama bin Laden does not tell the story of the United States and the War on Terror," stated Daniel and Mor. It tells the story of the people tasked to find the world's most wanted terrorist and bring him to justice. It [was] a hunt that changed their lives, America, and the world as we know it." Most Netflix viewers have been full of praise offering up rave reviews about the miniseries on X while others have raised one important issue. ‌ One online user commented: "American Manhunt Osama Bin Laden was a riveting documentary series. Just 3 episodes, most of which I've seen bits and pieces over several documentaries/movies. But it was put together so well, especially the 3rd episode was nail biting cinema! Hard hitting! Must watch!" A second fan agreed: "That Osama Bin Laden American Manhunt installment is soooo good. 10s to whoever produced & directed it." ‌ However, some viewers did note that they felt the documentary had felt one-sided, describing it as jingoistic at times. One comment read: "Watching the American manhunt for Osama bin Laden on Netflix rn, and it feels like the main point of the show is to make people sympathise with the CIA and the intelligence officers for their years-long intelligence failure. It's an overkill at this point." Another shared the same sentiment, commenting: "Netflix has released American Manhunt Osama Bin Laden which seems to feature the "heroic" CIA Officers who worked in Alec Station? "FBI & Congress blamed those clowns for actively concealing the presence of known Al Qaeda terrorists in USA before the 9/11 attacks. Not heroes. Idiots."
