Jose Delgado says his 26-second KO at UFC 317 puts him among featherweight elite
Despite the blazing-fast finish, Delgado was denied a post-fight performance bonus. LAS VEGAS – Jose Delgado met with MMA Junkie and other media members Saturday after his first-round knockout win over Hyder Amil at UFC 317. Delgado (10-1 MMA, 2-0 UFC) drilled Amil (11-1 MMA, 3-1 UFC) with a perfectly placed jumping knee up the middle in their prelim fight at T-Mobile Arena. Amil hit the canvas, and Delgado had him finished just 26 seconds into the fight. Despite the blazing-fast finish, Delgado was denied a post-fight performance bonus. But he thought getting Amil out of there in a hurry was possible. 'I was expecting war. I was prepared for it. But I'm not surprised. I know how dangerous I am. I know how quick I can get these guys out of here,' Delgado said at his post-fight news conference. The 27-year-old featherweight, who trains with the likes of former UFC lightweight champion Benson Henderson at The MMA Lab in Arizona, handed Amil the first loss of his career. He also thinks he may have put other 145-pounders on notice. Delgado now has seven straight wins, and all 10 of his wins are by stoppage. 'When I close my eyes and I've thought about this and I visualize, that's what I wanted this moment to be,' Delgado said. 'I wanted everybody to know who I was. I wanted the division to know. I wanted to real ones to know that I'm a real one. I belong in the elite. I'm of a certain class. I'm in the 'A' class, and I want to showcase that every time.' Check out Delgado's post-fight interview in the video above.

Hyder Amil wants UFC to book him in arenas: 'My fights are way too exciting for the Apex'
LAS VEGAS – Hyder Amil feels his fighting is for the people, and that's why he doesn't want to fight anymore at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. Quickly catching the eyes of many MMA fans, Amil (11-0 MMA, 3-0 UFC) has put on fun showings with devastating finishes and wild wars in his short UFC run. At Saturday's UFC Fight Night 253, Amil defeated William Gomis (14-3 MMA, 4-1 UFC) in a hard-fought split decision that had many watching from home raving over the action. However, not many people got to witness Amil's upset win in person, as he competed at the UFC Apex – which is a UFC owned facility with small capacity compared to arenas. 'My fights are way too exciting for the Apex,' Amil said at the UFC Fight Night 253 post-fight press conference. 'I can't imagine if my last fight was in an arena – people would be going bonkers. Even this fight, also. 'Please put me in an arena. I feel like I fight better with people. It's just always more exciting when you win in front of people. And you know what? UFC is about having spectacular fights. Watch all my fights. Every time I fight, the roof is going off. Just expect that if I fight in an arena.' Amil entered Saturday's event as an underdog, and after losing the first round, he was able to rally back and get a gutsy win. Despite the bout being close, Amil was confident he was keeping his undefeated record that night. 'He might've got gifted that last one, but I was pretty confident I got that because I got the takedown, and I was landing the harder shots,' Amil said. 'Also, I did the featherweight division a favor by taking Gomis out. Every one of my fights is exciting. Come watch me fight. You're going to get your money's worth.' Hyder Amil vs. William Gomis prediction, pick, start time for UFC Fight Night 253
Hyder Amil and William Gomis meet Saturday on the UFC Fight Night 253 main card at UFC Apex in Las Vegas. Check out this quick breakdown of the matchup from MMA Junkie analyst Dan Tom. Last event: 5-0 UFC main cards, 2025: 15-10-1 Hyder Amil vs. William Gomis UFC Fight Night 253 preview Amil (10-0 MMA, 2-0 UFC) steps in for his third UFC appearance, looking to build upon an impressive debut year. In 2024, Amil picked up TKO finishes of Fernie Garcia and Jeong Yeong Lee, the latter earning a Performance of the Night bonus. … Gomis (14-2 MMA, 4-0 UFC) enters on a streak of 12 consecutive wins, having not tasted defeat since 2016. In his lone appearance of 2024, Gomis squeaked by Joanderson Brito by split decision in September. Hyder Amil vs. William Gomis UFC Fight Night 253 expert pick, prediction Filing out the main card is a featherweight fight between Amil and Gomis. Although I'm admittedly not the biggest fan of Gomis' style, I suspect that Amil's aggression will bring out the best of him from a stylistic perspective. Hyder Amil, who faces William Gomis at #UFCVegas103, is officially 0-0 against UFC-level southpaws. It's been over years since Amil's fought a SP, but he showed some solid instincts (especially when it comes to countering kicks and knees) despite his somewhat-usual rough starts: — Dan Tom (@DanTomMMA) February 28, 2025 However, the smaller cage will likely make more of a messier fight than Gomis might want. Add in the fact that Gomis is currently riding one of the most fraudulent winning streaks in the UFC, I'll take a flier on the dogged determination of the undefeated underdog in Amil. The official pick is Amil by third-round TKO. Hyder Amil vs. William Gomis UFC Fight Night 253 odds The oddsmakers and the public are favoring the French fighter, listing Gomis -205 and Amil +164 via FanDuel. Hyder Amil vs. William Gomis UFC Fight Night 253 start time, how to watch Amil and Gomis are expected to walk to the cage at approximately 7:40 p.m. ET. The fight will stream on ESPN+.
