9-Year-Old Boy Slapped, Humiliated In Delhi Market, 3 Arrested: Cops

New Delhi: A nine-year-old boy was allegedly slapped, humiliated and verbally abused in public by a garment stall owner and his two employees in southwest Delhi's Sarojini Nagar market, police said on Tuesday. Two purported videos of the shocking meted out to the boy, who is a Nepalese, surfaced on social media, following which Delhi Police apprehended the three men for the incident, they said. In one of the disturbing videos that has gone viral on social media, a man is seen holding the boy with his unclasped belt to restrict his movement as the child cries for help. Another man steps forward and sprays what appears to be liquid soap or shampoo directly onto the child's hair and head. The same man then forcibly rubs the soap into the child's hair while mocking him. Loud verbal abuse and curses are heard throughout the video, with the child pleading to stop the assault. At one point, a third man intervenes and pokes the child with his foot, further humiliating him. The boy winces and tries to turn away, but is restrained by the man. In another video, a man is seen trying to shove the child inside a tempo while he is seen resisting. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southwest) Amit Goel said, "One of them is seen holding the boy by his hands and belt, while another pours water into his pants." Another man can be seen poking the boy with his foot and hurling verbal abuses, Goel said. The victim is a class three student and a native of Nepal. His mother works as a cook in the Sarojini Nagar Market area, he added. The purported video shows the child being slapped, abused, threatened and humiliated by three men, the DCP said. Taking cognisance of the video, police registered a case under sections 115(2) (Voluntarily causing hurt), 127(2) (Wrongful confinement), 351 (Criminal intimidation) of the BNS, Sections 75 of the Juvenile Justice Act (Punishment for cruelty to child) and Section 12 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act (Punishment for sexual harassment of a child). Pankaj (35), who owns a readymade garments stall at Sarojini Nagar Market, and Pradeep Kumar (29) and Vishal (30), both working as helpers at Pankaj's shop, were apprehended, police said.

She Scouted Locked Delhi Homes, Used 50 Master Keys To Rob Them, Arrested

New Delhi: A 23-year-old former call centre employee, who turned to burglary, has been arrested for targeting locked houses in upscale areas of southwest Delhi using 50 master keys, an official said on Tuesday. The accused, Joynila Tongsin Anal, a native of Manipur had moved to Delhi in October 2024 and initially took up a job at a call centre while living in Munirka, he said. She quit her job soon and allegedly began targeting locked homes in nearby localities like Kishangarh and Safdarjung Enclave, he added. She used a bunch of keys to test on door locks and would slip into houses discreetly, decamping with valuables, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southwest) Amit Goel said. The case came to light when two separate burglary complaints were filed at Kishangarh police station and Safdarjung Enclave police station earlier this month. A complainant alleged that a laptop, LED TV, and camera accessories were stolen from his home in Munirka while another person reported that gold and diamond earrings, a headphone, shoes, along with Rs 1,300 in cash were stolen from his residence, Goel said. On June 14, Joynila was arrested from the Chhatarpur area. During interrogation she confessed to the burglaries and led the police to her residence where stolen items from multiple cases were recovered. The 50 keys in her possession that she used to open locked homes without drawing attention, were also seized, the officer said. "Her method was systematic. She scouted locked homes and used keys in her possession to silently enter. The recoveries and her confession have helped us solve at least four burglary cases," the DCP added.

Man, Posing As Investment Advisor, Dupes Woman Of Rs 29 Lakhs: Delhi Cops

New Delhi: Delhi Police has arrested a 44-year-old man for allegedly duping a woman of Rs 29 lakh through a fake online investment scheme, an official on Tuesday said. The accused, Chothmal Saini, is a resident of Rajasthan's Sikar and was wanted in two different cyber fraud cases, he said. The complainant, a woman, alleged that she was lured into an online part-time job. She was directed to a website where she was asked to invest money and shown fake returns credited to her digital account, police said. "Believing the platform to be genuine, she continued to invest and deposited Rs 29 lakh into various bank accounts provided by the fraudsters. The accused, posing as investment advisors, guided her through social media chats to keep investing," said Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Southwest, Amit Goel, in a statement. When her returns climbed into crores on the website, she attempted to withdraw some of the profits but was denied access, said the DCP, adding she then lodged a police complaint realising that she had been cheated. The police teams got to know that the accused is staying in different hotels in Jaipur and Sikar. Saini was arrested during a raid in Sikar, police said. Further investigation is underway and efforts are on to trace and arrest the other members involved, they said.

Missing drugs case in Delhi: 3 cops suspended, SHO transferred

The Delhi Police has lodged an FIR in connection with a drug recovery case, which includes a probe into a suspected drug syndicate as well as the role of policemen accused of 'hiding' the seized contraband. The FIR was registered after drugs worth ₹2.5 crore allegedly went missing from the Kishangarh police station in southwest Delhi. The case, now being investigated by the district's narcotics unit under the supervision of DCP Amit Goel, surfaced following the June 9 death of a 26-year-old Nepalese national in the Munirka area. During a search of the victim's residence near Kishangarh, 2–3 kilograms of a psychotropic substance—allegedly worth ₹2.5 crore (rate unverified by HT)—were recovered. These were handed over to the Kishangarh police station by a duty officer. As per standard procedure, narcotics recovery must be conducted in the presence of a gazetted officer, then logged in the daily diary and stored in a secure area known as malkhana. In this case, however, police said the drugs never reached the malkhana and disappeared shortly after being received. Officers are also probing if a gazetted officer was present at the time of seizure. 'So far, we have not been able to confirm this,' a senior officer said. A senior police official told HT, 'Within two days, the drugs went missing… The inspector questioned the duty officer and SHO but received no answers.' The inspector then approached the ACP of Safdarjung Enclave, leading to a complaint with the DCP. Days after the incident, the SHO of Kishangarh was sent to police lines and three policemen were suspended. While the drugs were later recovered, police remain unclear on how and from where they were returned. 'What was the delay? Why did the SHO hide the drugs?' another officer asked. Police have confirmed that the quantity of narcotics returned matched the amount initially logged, but added that CCTV footage of the evidence storage room is yet to be traced. All staffers posted at the police station are being questioned to reconstruct the sequence of events and determine accountability. In a parallel probe, police are also investigating a suspected drug syndicate. 'We found an Aadhaar card from Alwar, Rajasthan, Bangalore-bound tickets, and the drugs at the victim's home,' said an investigator. Meanwhile, a 23-year-old man from Sikkim has been arrested for the Nepalese man's murder. 'The accused intervened during a fight between the victim and his girlfriend and later stabbed him,' said DCP Goel. The woman is also being questioned about the origin and extent of the drug stash, police said.

Drugs worth Rs 2.5 crore vanish from police station, then recovered: SHO transferred, 3 cops suspended

Earlier this week, around three kilograms of drugs worth Rs 2.5 crore — recovered during a murder case probe — vanished from Southwest Delhi's Kishan Garh Police Station in a bizarre incident similar to the robbery of Rs 51 lakh in cash and two boxes of gold from the high-security malkhana (storage room) of the Delhi Police Special Cell's old office on Lodhi Road recently. In a twist, however, as an inquiry was initiated on June 11 in the matter, the drugs were recovered from a plot in the neighbourhood, said officers. Now, the SHO of the police station has been transferred to the District Lines Police station, and three police staffers have been suspended following a round of questioning, officers added. Officials said on June 9, police initiated a probe into a murder case after the body of a Nepalese man was found in the Kishangarh area. When police reached his house, they recovered around three kilograms of drugs worth Rs 2.5 crore, which was then kept at the police station. Between June 9 and June 10, the drugs could not be found by the Investigating Officer (IO) at the police station, who then reported the matter to the SHO. When no satisfactory response was given, the IO informed DCP South West Amit Goel, among other senior officials, about the issue, said sources. This was followed by an action against the SHO and three police officers. Last month, a policeman was arrested for allegedly stealing Rs 51 lakh in cash and two boxes of gold from a high-security malkhana. Head Constable Khurshid, the accused, had been deployed with the Special Cell — he was one of the security personnel at the same malkhana where he allegedly committed the theft — till May 24. As per the police, he had been transferred to the Northeast Delhi district after he made a request.
