‘It's for anyone': Square dance festival being held this weekend
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) – The Colorado State Square Dance Festival will be held Friday and Saturday at the Colorado Mesa University ballrooms.
Square dancing starts at 7 p.m. Friday and lasts until 10 p.m. It will start back up the next day from 9 to 11:30 a.m. followed by another session from 1 to 4 p.m. Finally, the main event will be from 7 to 10 p.m.
Sixth-generation square dancer Amy Secord and her husband, Ryan, explain how open square dancing is to everyone.
'It's for anyone. Anyone who has two feet and who is willing to learn and love the love, the values of square dancing and what it brings. So, I know I can't live without it. And that's why me, my husband, are doing all we can to keep it going through whatever means possible,' Secord said.
