Xiaomi's homegrown chip has more powerful specs on Geekbench as it rivals Snapdragon 8 Elite AP

Earlier this month Xiaomi unveiled its latest homegrown application processor (AP), the XRING 01. The SoC is built on TSMC's second-generation 3nm process node (N3B), recently scored an impressive 3,004,137 score on the AnTuTu benchmark app. That resulted in a close battle among APs used by Android phones between the XRING 01, MediaTek's Dimensity 9400+, and the Snapdragon 8 Elite. The XRING 01 is being used to power the Xiaomi 15S Pro and the Xiaomi Pad 7 Ultra and is equipped with a decacore configuration which includes: 2x Cortex-X925 CPU prime cores running at a maximum clock speed of 3.9GHz. 4x Cortex-A725 CPU performance cores running at a maximum clock speed of 3.4GHz. 2x Cortex-A725 CPU performance-efficiency cores running at a maximum clock speed of 1.9GHz. 2x Cortex-A520 CPU efficiency cores running at a maximum clock speed of 1.8GHz. The XRING 01 features a 16-core Arm Immortalis-G925 GPU and produced 2,709 and 8,125 single-core and multi-core scores respectively on the Geekbench 6 app. The AP was powering the Xiaomi 15S Pro during the test. That compares to the numbers put up by the Snapdragon 8 Elite driving the Xiaomi 15 Pro which were 2919 (single-core) and 8,699 (multi-core). The multi-core score for the XRING 01 shows that it is only 7% slower than Qualcomm's current flagship AP. Xiaomi debuts XRING 01 chip to rival Snapdragon 8 Elite and Dimensity 9400

Chinese smartphone company Xiaomi has revealed XRING 01, its first-ever in-house design chipset for mobile devices. The company's new chipset features a deca-core CPU accompanied by an ARM Immortalis-G925 MC16 GPU. While the Dimensity 9400, MediaTek's fastest chipset that competes against the Snapdragon 8 Elite, has the same GPU, the Xiaomi XRING 01 has 16 shader cores compared to 12 on MediaTek. Built in TSMC's 3nm N3E process, Xiaomi claimed that its new custom processor obtained an AnTuTu score of around 30 million, but a new report by Wccftech says that the actual score is somewhere around 26 million, which means it is slightly slower than the Snapdragon 8 Elite and the Dimensity 9400. On the CPU front, the XRING 01 beats the Dimensity 9400 but falls short of matching the Snapdragon 8 Elite. Also, unlike the newest MediaTek and Qualcomm flagship chipsets, Xiaomi's new chip packs an external modem. Taking of the GPU, the slightly weaker Dimensity 9400 GPU comes close to the Snapdragon 8 Elite, but we will have to see if the XRING 01's graphics capabilities can surpass Qualcomm's latest flagship chipset. For those wondering, Xiaomi just announced that the first devices to be powered by the XRING 01 chipset are the Xiaomi 15S Pro smartphone and the Xiaomi Pad 7 Ultra, both of which are currently only available in China. This means that we will have to wait and see if these devices find their way to the global market or if the Snapdragon 8 Elite competitor stays China exclusive. The XRING 01 may not be impressive at first, but considering this is Xiaomi's in-house designed chip, it will be interesting to see if the company plans to design more or if this was a one-off thing. Also, AnTuTu tests are more than just the chipset, meaning other components might also affect the final score. Still, this is a huge step by Xiaomi in the right direction.

Xiaomi 15S Pro and its Xring O1 chip match the Xiaomi 15 Pro in AnTuTu test

In AnTuTu's performance ranking, the top Snapdragon 8 Elite phones post scores just north of 2.5 million, but most are below that – some going down to 2.2 million (e.g. Galaxy S25 Ultra and OnePlus 13). Dimensity 9400 phones are in the mix too, but under the 2.5 million barrier. So, where will Xiaomi's self-developed Xring O1 chipset land? Weibo poster Xiaomu Technology shared an AnTuTu result, which ended right on the 2.5 million mark. The phone on the left is the Xiaomi 15 Pro (Snapdragon 8 Elite) and the one on the right is its replacement, the Xiaomi 15S Pro with the new Xring O1. AnTuTu results: Xiaomi 15 Pro (SD 8 Elite, left) and Xiaomi 15S Pro (Xring O1, right) Well, this is an Xring O1 since there seem to be at least two versions – the Xiaomi Pad 7 Ultra uses a version of the chip with lower clocks. You can see it in the second image, the two top cores run at 3.9GHz on the phone (and 3.7GHz on the tablet). Keep in mind that AnTuTu tests more than just the chipset, so other components can influence the final score. Still, this is a great result for what is essentially a first outing for Xiaomi's in-house chip design team – the Surge S1 was forever ago in tech terms. We should note that the Xiaomi 15S Pro unit had more RAM (16GB plus 6GB virtual) than the 15 Pro unit (12GB plus 4GB virtual). This doesn't mean that Xiaomi's partnership with Qualcomm is over – in fact, just yesterday the two companies signed an agreement to ship more premium phones, tablets, wearables, smart home devices and XR glasses. Xiaomi will be one of the first companies to adopt the new Snapdragon 8-series chip. Source (in Chinese) | Via
