Shah meets CM, Dy CMs during curtailed visit to city
Mumbai: Union home minister and senior BJP leader Amit Shah held meetings with chief minister Devendra Fadnavis and deputy chief ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar before curtailing his Mumbai visit and returning to New Delhi on Tuesday afternoon. The home minister met Fadnavis and Shinde together on Tuesday morning while his meeting with Pawar was held on Monday, said sources in the Mahayuti alliance. Shah's meetings with top leaders of the alliance assumes significance in light of upcoming elections to 687 local bodies in the state including the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). In the meeting with Fadnavis and Shinde, discussions were held about the three parties contesting the local polls together and the seat-sharing arrangement for civic polls in Mumbai and other cities, said a senior BJP leader. Ajit Pawar raised some issues related to his party during his meeting with Shah, said an NCP minister. On Tuesday, Shah presented the state government's newly constituted 'Chhatrapati Sambhajiraje Rajya Prerna Geet Award' to the song 'Anadi me, Anant me, Awadhya me' (I am without an end, without a start, invincible), written by Savarkar. The award was presented to Savarkar's kin Ranjit Savarkar, at Varsha, the official residence of the chief minister. Shah left for Delhi thereafter, upending plans of inaugurating the Veer Savarkar Study and Research Centre at Mumbai University. State officials and BJP leaders said they were not aware why Shah's visit was curtailed. Earlier in the day, Shah attended a programme commemorating 150 years of the Lakshminarayan Temple in Madhavbaug. He said he was born in Mumbai and three of my sisters were married in the temple premises. He also extolled the initiatives taken by the temple in the education sector. 'This tradition has been going on for 150 years and it is a matter of great pride for all of us. We have to think that when we celebrate the completion of 200 years, what will be the form of this trust. Can we convert this trust into a religious centre that removes all the worries of the middle-class society,' Shah said. The home minister suggested that a wellness centre be built in the temple premises for the ailing citizens utilising the centre's health schemes. Chavan set to be new state BJP chief State BJP chief Chandrashekhar Bawnakule on Tuesday indicated that the party's working president Ravindra Chavan would be his successor. 'Chavan is our working president and soon he will be the state BJP president,' Bawankule said during a programme at the BJP office, while admitting former NCP MLA Dilip Wagh into the party. Bawnakule was inducted as revenue minister in the Mahayuti government last year.

Dive deep into Dhrupad with Anant Gundecha
In fact, the Gundecha Brothers established the Dhrupad Sansthan in Bhopal. It is a unique musical academy patterned after the ancient guru-shishya (teacher-disciple) tradition of education, which the young singer swears by. 'When I attended one of the classes, I realised that the reason I am not getting bored is because it can be improvised — there is no fixed way to go about it. Every time you attempt a raag, you are searching for something new,' he shares, with eagerness in his voice. So, what is Anant's favourite raag? Initially hesitant to choose, he eventually relents, saying, 'Raag Bhimpalasi, an early evening raag. It is still in my mind because I taught everyone this raag in the workshop.' Anant is someone with a unique understanding of Hindustani classical music. While his knowledge comes from two Dhrupad stalwarts, he is aware of changing times and realities. As such, he urges aspiring singers in the tradition to first find a good guru. 'That is the most important step. Next, completely surrender to what your guru advises. As students, we tend to carry some ego, questioning authority. But don't question…simply imbibe,' he underscores. At the same time, he highlights the gaps in the music space, saying, 'Institutional support is needed to reach out to newer, younger audiences. When children are exposed to music early on, they are likely to embrace it with much more warmth as they grow older, correct? Ideally, each city should have five to six music circles that invite both local and visiting musicians. If artists consistently present good music, a good audience will naturally build over time.' It's simple — for Anant, music is what made him who he is today. 'It has taught me many, many lessons, and I keep learning.'

Kolhapur held a special place in Narilkar's heart
Kolhapur : In his 2016 memoir " My Tale Of Four Cities ", written in English, renowned cosmologist Jayant Narlikar recounted his life across Varanasi, Cambridge, Mumbai and Pune. He also dedicated a chapter, "Summer Vacations in Kolhapur", to his cherished annual visits to his ancestral hometown : Kolhapur. Narlikar noted that despite opportunities to visit other tourist destinations, his parents consistently chose Kolhapur — their hometown for three generations before his father. These trips, beginning in 1938, would last for around two to three months. The journey from Varanasi involved taking the Bombay Mail to Bombay, then the Deccan Queen or Poona Mail to Pune, followed by an overnight trip on the Pune-Kolhapur Mail. Upon arrival, Narlikar, his sister and brother Anant would stay at Huzurbazar Wada at the foot of Bhende Galli, while his father, Vishnu, resided in the ancestral Narlikar Bhavan on Mahadwar Road. Narlikar was also born in Kolhapur at the Dabholkar Nursing Home . Narlikar also fascinated train journeys. "There were special saloons belonging to the royal family of Kolhapur, standing on the tracks. We would try to climb them to catch glimpses of the luxurious fittings inside," wrote Narlikar, who wished he could travel in such luxury and mentioned that his wish was fulfilled in 1986 when he travelled on the engine of the Koyna Express on the Pune-Lonavala sector. In his book, Narlikar remembers visiting Temblai Hill, from the top of which they could see a panoramic view of the city. On the way back, his father treated them with Amboli, a special version of dosa, for the kids. Despite attempts to learn swimming, Narlikar and his brother Anant were deterred by their fear of the Panchganga river. Their mother and sister ultimately ended their lessons, a decision that brought relief to a young Narlikar. He later recalled in his book that leaving Kolhapur for Varanasi was a painful experience for him. Uday Kulkarni, a veteran journalist and activist, said, "Three generations of Narlikars spent their lives in Kolhapur. The Narlikars' wada was trimmed during road widening and then redeveloped as Narlikar Bhavan. When he became well-known in the field of science, we used to call him for lectures in Vidnyan Prabhodini. He used to deliver lectures for free, and whenever we mailed the fees, he politely returned them. The people of Kolhapur recognised his contribution and publicly felicitated him with the Kolhapur Bhushan and Rajarshi Shahu Puraskar."

Mika Singh hints at how much he was paid for performing at Anant Ambani wedding, complains he didn't get Rs 2 cr watch: ‘Sab ameeron ko de di'
Mika Singh was paid handsomely for performing during the wedding festivities of Anant Ambani, Reliance Chairperson Mukesh Ambani's son, last year. So much so that he admits the fees can last him five years. However, months after the wedding, Mika remains upset over the fact that he didn't get the Rs 2 crore Audemars Piguet limited-edition luxury watch that many others were gifted. 'Anant bhai, mujhe pata hai aap mujhse dukhi ho ke, naraaz ho ke, ek na ek din ghadi doge. Aur main bhi pyaar se le ke hi rahunga. Mera haq banta hai (I know you'll give that watch to me one day after getting frustrated by me. And I'll receive it with love. It's my right),' said Mika. He joked he'll keep chasing Anant for the watch till he gives in. On Shubhankar Mishra's podcast, Mika argued that richer celebrities have been gifted the watch, but not those like him. 'Main usi baat par chidha hu. Baat mehengi-sasti ki nahi hoti. Sabse gareeb ko toh banta hi hai. Saare ameeron ko toh de di unhone. Sab aise photo daalte hain. Usmei main bhi apna haath ghusaunga (It's not about how expensive or cheap it is. All the rich guests have been gifted the watch. I should get it too so I can flex it in a photo like others do. That's why I'm upset),' added Mika. Last year, Mika had first expressed his displeasure at not receiving the watch from Anant Ambani, which others like the groomsmen, along with Shah Rukh Khan and Ranveer Singh, did for their involvement in Anant's wedding with Radhika Merchant. However, he had assured everyone that he was paid handsomely for his performance at the wedding. 'I was paid a lot of fees. But I cannot tell you how much this amount was. But if you want to guess, I can say that I got so much money that I could easily spend five years with it. I don't have any special expenses. So I could easily spend five years with that money,' the singer told The Lallantop. Mika also pointed out how the stigma associated with Bollywood celebrities performing at weddings has gradually faded over the years. 'When we two brothers (him and Daler Mehendi) used to sing at weddings, people used to feel bad that they were going and singing at weddings. Now, I see that everyone is singing at weddings. It doesn't seem like anyone is going to a big show and performing. Now, they are earning all their money by singing at weddings,' said Mika.
