Dodgers' Dave Roberts Makes Bold All-Star Claim About Andy Pages

Dodgers' Dave Roberts Makes Bold All-Star Claim About Andy Pages originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Los Angeles Dodgers are in sole possession of first place in the National League West. Powered by the league's number one offense, they boast multiple MVPs and arguably the most dangerous hitter in baseball – Shohei Ohtani. Advertisement Yet, as the pitching staff struggles with four starters having an ERA above 4.00, unsung heroes are stepping up and making a case for more of the spotlight. Look no further than outfielder Andy Pages. The former top prospect has taken on a prominent role in his sophomore campaign and is shining in the process. Already surpassing his rookie season baseball-reference WAR, Pages is well on his way to totaling more home runs and RBIs by season's end. Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Andy Pages (44) runs the bases after hitting a home run against the Athletics during the second inning at Dodger Parkhurst-Imagn Images His production has made him a mainstay in an already stacked lineup. Following Thursday's win that capped off a four-game series split against the New York Mets, where Pages finished 7-for-17 with one home run, two RBIs, and scored the game-winning run, manager Dave Roberts praised the 24-year-old. Advertisement "Yeah, he is actually [playing like an All-Star]. 7-for-17, and there were a few lineouts in there," said Roberts. "He's just really swinging the bat well. Confidence is a big thing, and he is playing like an All-Star." Often overshadowed by Cubs' Pete Crow-Armstrong and Nationals' James Woods, Pages belongs in the same conversation as one of MLB's rising stars. Over his last 10 games, Pages is batting .390 with three home runs, 10 RBIs, and a 1.114 OPS. He has even climbed to ninth among outfielders with a season-long .833 OPS. That is higher than Oneil Cruz, Fernando Tatis, and Juan Soto. While an All-Star game may not be in his immediate future, it is time to recognize the arrival of Pages as a legitimate offensive threat. It was dark. It was depressing. It felt just like October. Advertisement Facing the Dodgers for the first time since falling in last year's NLCS, the Mets made a dramatic ninth-inning comeback, then squandered multiple walk-off opportunities before suffering a deflating 13-inning, rain-interrupted return bout against the defending champs, 7-5, Friday night at Citi Field. The Mets (30-21), who have lost six of their past eight games, had recorded only three hits entering the ninth, and trailed by three, when Jeff McNeil inspired hope, hitting a two-run triple. 3 New York Mets pitcher Max Kranick (32) reacts in the third inning against the Los Angeles Dodgers on May 23, 2025. Acuna opened his 11th-inning at-bat with three balls, and the bases loaded, but extended the game with a groundout. Dodgers Dave Roberts Updates Andy Pages Playing Time Status

It has not gone under the radar that the Los Angeles Dodgers have had to endure various injuries to start this season. However, due to so many moving parts in the infield and outfield, other players have had the opportunity to make a name for themselves. A great example of this is Dodgers center fielder Andy Pages. After a slow start to the season, some questioned whether he would even remain part of the team for much longer. Advertisement With a couple of key injuries, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts continued giving Pages chances, considering they needed him to patrol center field while Tommy Edman was dealing with an ankle injury. Roberts clarified yesterday that Pages is "an everyday player" and that even with Teoscar Hernández returning from the injured list, that won't take away at-bats from Pages. Pages 2.2 WAR in 2025 ranks third on the team, just behind Freddie Freeman and Shohei Ohtani. A big reason for that is a couple of stellar plays on defense and timely hitting. Advertisement He's hitting .280 with nine home runs and a .494 slugging percentage in 164 at-bats. Pages has played almost every day for the entirety of the season to this point, and Roberts made it clear that he is here to stay. After the Dodgers optioned James Outman, it has become apparent that Pages is the center field option for the future. Related: Dodgers Make Teoscar Hernandez Announcement Before Diamondbacks Series
