The Devil Wears Prada Sequel Cast: What They Look Like Now Vs. 2006
Gird your loins: the Devil Wears Prada sequel is officially in the works. On Monday, 19 years to the day after the original movie was released in theaters in June 2006, Disney's 20th Century Studios released a short teaser confirming that the long-awaited sequel to The Devil Wears Prada has started filming. Based on the 2004 book of the same name by Lauren Weisberger, the original movie follows the story of a budding journalist named Andy Sachs, who, despite having no interest in fashion, takes on a job to be an assistant to Miranda Priestly, the editor-in-chief of the industry's most prestigious fashion mag, Runway. The movie is an undisputed CLASSIC, so it's no surprise that it's finally getting the sequel treatment after all these years. Right now, the exact details of the plot have not been confirmed, although reports suggest the sequel might involve a face-off between Miranda and one of her former employees. But what we do know is that four very big names from the original film will be returning to reprise their roles — along with one Oscar-winning newcomer. Without further ado, let's see how the OG cast has changed in the past two decades as we take a look at which stars are definitely returning, which probably aren't, and which have yet to confirm their plans… So, the actors currently confirmed to be returning for the Devil Wears Prada sequel are… Meryl Streep as Miranda Anne Hathaway as Andy Emily Blunt as Emily Stanley Tucci as Nigel And joining the cast for the first time will be… Kenneth Branagh as Miranda's husband OK, as you know, Kenneth wasn't in the first movie. But I wanted to make him feel included, so here's what he was looking like in 2006. So far, the only actor that probably won't be returning is… Adrian Grenier as Nate Both Entertainment Weekly and People have reported that Adrian will not be reprising his role as Andy Sachs's boyfriend, Nate. Adrian has not commented on the reports. And as for the rest of the OG cast, we'll have to wait and see… Simon Baker as Christian Tracie Thoms as Lily Rich Sommer as Doug Stephanie Szostak as Jacqueline Gisele Bündchen as Serena The Devil Wears Prada sequel is currently set to hit theaters in May 2026, which is a little while to wait. But, you know what they say: By all means, move at a glacial pace. You know how that thrills me...

"Devil Wears Prada 2" Begins Production with Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci Returning; Kenneth Branagh Joins Cast
Yara Sameh Production has begun on the highly anticipated 'The Devil Wears Prada", with Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci returning. In addition to the stars of the original 2006 film, Kenneth Branagh will join the cast as the husband of Miranda Presley (Streep), the demanding editor-in-chief of Runway magazine. Disney's 20th Century Studios confirmed the news on Instagram, sharing only a teaser of two devilish red pumps. View this post on Instagram A post shared by 20th Century Studios (@20thcenturystudios) Based on Lauren Weisberger's 2004 novel, 'The Devil Wears Prada' follows aspiring journalist Andy Sachs (Hathaway) who is hired at a glossy fashion magazine (it's a job a million girls 'would kill' to get!) but finds herself at the mercy of her demanding editor-in-chief. The dishy book is a roman à clef; Weisberger briefly worked as Anna Wintour's assistant at Vogue. In especially timely news, Wintour announced last week her plans to step down as American Vogue's editor-in-chief after 37 years. Plot details for the sequel haven't been confirmed, but the storyline reportedly follows Miranda Priestly as she navigates her career amid the decline of traditional magazine publishing. She faces off against Blunt's character, her one-time assistant who is now a high-powered executive for a luxury group with advertising dollars that Priestly desperately needs. It's not clear how Hathaway's Andy Sachs will factor into the story; at the end of the first film, she quits Runway and takes a job at a newspaper. David Frankel and Aline Brosh McKenna, who directed and wrote the original film, are returning for the sequel. Producer Karen Rosenfelt also returns. ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2' begins filming with Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep and more to return
Production has officially begun on The Devil Wears Prada 2, with Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci returning to reprise their roles. The sequel is being developed by Disney's 20th Century Studios and is scheduled for a theatrical release on May 1, 2026. Kenneth Branagh has joined the cast as the husband of Miranda Priestly, the editor-in-chief of Runway magazine, played once again by Streep. The studio confirmed the casting and start of production through a social media post featuring an image of red high heels, referencing the original film's fashion-centric setting. The first film, released in 2006 and based on Lauren Weisberger's novel, followed aspiring journalist Andy Sachs (Hathaway) as she took a job at a high-profile fashion magazine under the demanding leadership of Miranda Priestly. The book, often viewed as a roman à clef, was loosely inspired by Weisberger's time working as an assistant to Vogue editor Anna Wintour. While detailed plot information for the sequel has not been released, reports suggest the story will center on Priestly facing the challenges of an evolving media landscape. Blunt's character, Emily Charlton, is now a senior executive at a luxury fashion group that holds key advertising influence, setting up a professional conflict between the former colleagues. It is unclear how Andy Sachs will fit into the new storyline. Director David Frankel and screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna, who worked on the original film, are returning for the sequel. Producer Karen Rosenfelt is also back on board.
