Members of Anishinabek Police, West Parry Sound OPP, and the Britt & Area Fire Department responded to the crash, which resulted in no injuries. Cops say that after detecting a strong odour of fresh burnt cannabis within the vehicle, officers conducted a search of it and the occupants. Police allegedly seized 33 grams of cannabis — not in its original packaging — and 250 grams of suspected fentanyl. One Sig Sauer P320 9mm handgun with an extended magazine and 16 rounds of ammunition were also seized. Police say the firearm was concealed and unholstered in the waistband of one of the occupants of the vehicle, had no manual safety, and had nothing physically preventing the firearm from being unintentionally discharged. The first accused boy faces one drug-related charge and seven firearm-related charges. The second boy faces one drug-related and one firearm-related charge. Anishinabek Police say that they, along with provincial police and the Britt & Area Fire Department, were called to Highway 69 in Wallbridge Township, Ont., on Saturday. They say nobody was injured in the collision. 'Ater detecting a strong odour of fresh burnt cannabis emanating from the vehicle, officers searched the vehicle and occupants, as allowed under the Cannabis Control Act,' officials said in a release. Following their search, police say they seized 250 grams of suspected fentanyl, 33 grams of cannabis—not in its original packaging—and one handgun with an extended magazine, as well as 16 rounds of ammunition. Officers say one teen concealed the gun in their waistband, adding the firearm had no manual safety or anything else to physically prevent the gun from unintentionally firing. Two 16-year-old boys are now facing a variety of drug and firearm-related charges, including possession of a schedule 1 substance of the purpose of trafficking. Their identities are protected under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act and the charges have not been tested in court. Two 16-year-olds from Scarborough, Ont., have been charged following a collision with a moose May 24 near Parry Sound. Anishinabek Police Service responded to the crash, with the Ontario Provincial Police and the fire department in Britt. The moose and vehicle collided on Highway 69 in Wallbridge Township. No one was injured. 'Fresh burnt cannabis' 'After detecting a strong odour of fresh burnt cannabis emanating from the vehicle, officers searched the vehicle and occupants,' Anishinabek police said in a news release Monday. Police discovered 250 grams of suspected fentanyl, 33 grams of cannabis not in its original packaging, a Sig Sauer P320 9 mm handgun with an extended magazine and 16 rounds of ammunition. Both 16-year-olds were charged with drug trafficking and a weapons offence. One of the teens was also charged with other weapons offences, including carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a weapon obtained by crime and careless use of a firearm.
