Brian May issues emotional message over wife Anita Dobson after health scare

Queen rocker Brian May has shared a rare comment about his actress wife Anita Dobson following her win at the Soap Awards and his terrifying health scare last year Brian May has made a rare comment about his wife Anita Dobson following her Soap Awards win. The Queen rocker, 77, gushed over the actress as she took home the Scene of the Year gong at the annual award ceremony. EastEnders icon Anita, 76, made a dramatic comeback as her beloved character Angie Watts on the soap, and the move secured her win. Speaking before she was presented with the gong, Anita: 'It was just perfect.' ‌ Asked if she could return again, she admitted: 'I don't think so, although I should say never say never, it would have to be something extra special.' ‌ Brian made sure to congratulate Anita as he issued a public message of support to his wife. Taking to X, he gushed: "Congratulations Anita Dobson!!! "My incredibly talented lady wife --- winner of the Scene of the Year award - for returning as a ghost from another life to shake the East End one more time !! Massively proud !!! Bri." ‌ Actress Anita, who has been married to Brian for 24 years, spoke out about the musician's health earlier this year following his terrifying stroke. In September, Brian said that 'out of the blue' he suddenly lost control of his left arm, and was rushed to hospital in an ambulance where he was diagnosed with a stroke. He was later told to take it easy and made the announcement himself with a social media video. Earlier this year, Anita revealed Brian was in a "stable" condition. Anita gave a reassuring four-word answer while on Good Morning Britain. ‌ She said: "He's very well now", before adding: "I'm very happy to say, thank you both for asking, he's very well now, he's back to his old self!" The We Will Rock You legend took to Instagram to share the news with his followers last year: "I hope you're all well out there. I'm here to bring you first of all some good news. "I think the good news is that I can play guitar after the events of the last few days and I say this because it was in some doubt because that little health hiccup that I mentioned happened about a week ago and what they called it was a minor stroke and all of a sudden - out of the blue - I didn't have any control over this arm so was a little scary." ‌ He also heaped praise on the medical team at Frimley Hospital in Camberley, Surrey, for their excellent care. Brian added: "I have to say I had the most fantastic care and attention from Frimley Hospital where I went blue lights flashing... the lot. Very exciting!" In 2020, Brian also suffered a heart attack, and fears he 'could have died' at the time, having initially thought he had simply suffered a gardening injury. He subsequently had his heart fitted with three stents, which are tiny tubes that hold open blocked arteries, that helped him recover.

Doctor Who – Season 15 Episode 8 Recap, Review & Ending Explained

The Reality War Episode 8 of Doctor Who season 15 begins with the Doctor saved by Anita from the Time Hotel, with a magical doorway opened up in the balcony and pulling him out to safety. Anita is now head of HR but the hotel is in limbo because when it comes to Earth, the timeline keeps resetting to the same day as soon as it hits midnight. Rani is doing all of this so reality stretches thin and then breaks so Omega is unleashed. The Palace is a point of no-entry so Anita can't get in there… unless it's a falling bit of balcony, that seems to be okay. Anita brings The Doctor back to his old house, where he rocks up in a dress to see Belinda and Poppy. Anita saves them both, bringing them into the Time Hotel which snaps them out of this fantasy world funk. Next, the doorway arrives in UNIT, where the Doctor shows them all the truth. It works to see reality start to reset, and here we learn that large skeletal creatures patrolling London are Bone Beasts, creatures that feed off the energy being created by projecting this new reality. There are trackers inside every member of UNIT, and Kate presses a button which sees all of these guys snap out of their funk and head off to the palace, including Shirley, who presses a button on her wheelchair and zooms off, leaving skid marks and flames on the floor. At UNIT, the Rani pops up and explains that she had a split second to survive back in the day – and she took it. She flipped her DNA and made a biological side-step. She has a Time Ring and this led her to the TARDIS. Now, Poppy is apparently a biological anomaly. There can't be another child of Gallifrey given all the Time Lords are sterile. Poppy has come out of this wish as an accident and she's half-Time Lord. Belinda and the Doctor are determined to save their make-believe daughter, and refuse to let the Rani press ahead with her plan of turning Earth into the next Gallifrey. The Doctor decides to use a contraption called the Zero Room to save the day. This will allow them to place Poppy inside and if the Wish comes to an end then Poppy will still be alive. Belinda decides to join Poppy and leave the fighting to the rest of the group. The rest of UNIT fight off the Bone Beasts, which the Rani has managed to manipulate into fighting the group. The Doctor though, flies straight into Rani's palace and hangs back, watching as the Rani summons Omega. Omega has now become his own legend, the Mad God, coming in the form of a large creature crawling out the portal. It eats the Rani, while the Doctor just stands and watches, while Mrs Flood (the other Rani) grabs the Time Ring and leaves. The Doctor grabs the Vindicator and fights back, pushing Omega back into its tomb while Ruby also makes it inside the palace, thanks to a UNIT teleporter that jumps her into Conrad's room. Ruby brings up his daddy issues before grabbing the baby from the crib, wishing for Conrad to be happy, and leaving. The Palace disintegrates as the fantasy world ends, with the Doctor making it back with Ruby and wishing for no more wishes. The Zero Room has also been successful in keeping Poppy alive… or has it? When Belinda and the Doctor make it back into the TARDIS, Poppy disappears completely and both the Doctor and Belinda have no memory of it. Only Ruby does. Ruby is the only one who remembers the imaginary child, while everybody else has been course-corrected. Ruby convinces The Doctor to remember, and after a bit of a monologue, heads off in his TARDIS to change reality and get Poppy back. Jodie Whittaker shows up and speaks to the Doctor, explaining that he could damage the whole of creation if he ruptures the Time Vortex, which is what he intends to do in order to get Poppy back. In the end, she decides to help and gives some words of encouragement and affirmations before leaving. After all, on her watch half the universe was obliterated with the Flux which – if we're taking count – still hasn't been resolved. The Doctor uses his Regeneration energy to shatter reality and when he awakens, he finds himself face down on grass in Belinda's garden. Poppy is alive in this world, ands after some reunions, the Doctor leaves. Just before he does, he thanks Joy before regenerating into… Billie Piper. The Episode Review It's quite funny to see Ncuti Gatwa touching grass because that's precisely what all the Doctor Who fans have been doing this year – in their masses. The writing this season has been nothing short of disastrous, with Russell T. Davies determined to rip every shred of Doctor Who apart. The entire finale continues to violate parts of Doctor Who's past, and the desperate call-backs to old Doctors, along with contrived writing like the Time Hotel (which can apparently open a doorway anywhere except the Time Palace unless a chunk is falling off?) feels like sloppy writing and a poor excuse to find the easiest way to 'save the day.' Speaking of which, the Doctor brute-forces his way into defeating Omega, using a Vindicator rather than his intelligence (a hallmark of the Doctor's character of course) while also standing back and letting the Rani get killed and not even batting an eyelid. This is the same Doctor who tries to save The Master numerous times, and also forgives a psychopathic barber hell-bent on destroying reality. With poor writing and one of the worst companions we've ever seen in Belinda, season 15 has solidified itself as the absolute worst in the show's history and a feeble attempt at a regeneration into Billie Piper feels like the rotten icing atop this lop-sided cake. I wouldn't be surprised if we get a cancellation notice soon for this one. Previous Episode Expect A Full Season Write-Up When This Season Concludes!

Anita Dobson fights tears as she reflects on friendship with EastEnders co-star

To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video EastEnders fans everywhere were left gobsmacked during the BBC soap's 40th anniversary when the iconic Angie Watts (Anita Dobson) made an unexpected appearance. The character appeared as an hallucination to daughter Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean), who was fighting for her life after being caught in the Queen Vic collapse. Some words of encouragement from her late mum were enough to keep her hanging on until help arrived. With the iconic moment having taken even the cast by surprise, it was no wonder it won the award for Scene of the Year at this year's British Soap Awards. Ahead of the star-studded ceremony, I was privileged enough to be able to chat to the icon herself, Anita Dobson, as well as her partner-in-crime, Kathy Beale star Gillian Taylforth. In the early days of the show, Kathy and Angie were the best of friends, and their relationship is still fondly regarded by fans today. During our chat, both women enthused about their long-lasting friendship, with Anita getting emotional. 'We haven't been able to see each other as much [as we'd like], but I know as soon as I look at her…' Anita said, with Gillian going on to finish the thought. 'It's true. As soon as we see one another the memories come flooding back.' Despite their close bond, even Gillian didn't know about Anita's return to the show until it aired on TV. 'We knew nothing about the scene that she did with Tish. When we watched it, we all went, 'Wow, this is what the 40th is all about! This icon coming back to our show!' Absolutely amazing, and I truly mean that.' The actresses went on to reflect on their first meeting in years, which was captured on an episode of EastEnders revealed before the live episode. 'When we did the Revealed show, we just cried when we met again. We still keep in touch now,' Gillian explained, before revealing how they still send each other birthday and Christmas cards. More Trending Reflecting on her decision to return to the show, Anita said: 'It took a lot of talking because I wanted it to be right. I didn't want to do it if it wasn't going to actually work. 'So we had a bit of chatting over the script and it just felt like the right time. And it was the best way to say goodbye to Angie, for me.' It is heartening to see singles find love in new little ways, says Simran Mangharam

There is a tribe of people in their 40s who have come to terms with not finding a life partner. They are open to different types of relationships. They either did not ever seek marriage, or have made their peace with not finding their way to long-term commitment. The one thing many do still seek is an anchor in their lives that can lend purpose to their everyday, be the recipient of the love they hold, and constitute, essentially, their family. For a growing number of single people, adoption is proving to be the path to such an anchor. While it can feel lonely being a single parent, one is certainly never alone. It has been heartening, in recent years, to see clients find love in this way. One such woman, let's call her Lisa, is a journalist in her mid-40s who lives with her parents in Delhi. She emerged from the pandemic determined to take what felt like the next step for her: that of adoption. It took her over a year to win her parents over to the idea. As she waits her turn, having filed her paperwork, Lisa is preparing for life as a mother. She is reorganising her finances, researching schools, breaking the idea to friends and family. She came to me with questions about dating. As the single mother of an adopted child, how should she do things differently, she asked. I decided to connect her with another client of mine, a 50-year-old named Anita, who has been a single adoptive parent for 13 years. Their conversations have been enlightening. Anita has been honest and candid about what life as a parent, particularly a single parent, can be like. With an adopted child, she pointed out, the tangles can be crueller. Navigating the neighbourhood and community can be particularly tricky. People, even other parents at school, may directly ask your child, 'Beta, what happened to your papa,' Anita warned. Support groups for adoptive parents can help one figure out, early on, how to handle such situations. (There is no perfect answer, of course; and especially to an adopted child, the question can be traumatic.) To Lisa's original questions about dating, Anita pointed out that any sort of relationship would have to be put on hold for as long as it took to bond with the child and make them feel secure. 'I couldn't even think of bringing another person into this equation for at least a couple of years,' she added. The joy that her daughter has brought into her life is undeniable, she said. They are a family; it is the family she always wanted. But there is no Hollywood-style turning point after which everything turns rosy. She and her child, who is now 14, are currently in counselling together, for instance, as they try to work out communication issues that have emerged in her daughter's teen years. 'I sometimes don't know how to react to the ways in which she acts out, and counselling is helping with that,' she said. (Incidentally, I would recommend counselling to all families at the teen stage, in our complicated times.) Through it all, Anita said, her child has filled her life with love, meaning and a sense of purpose. As much as she had been looking forward to it, building her family turned out to be more fulfilling than she had expected. To wake up with the person one adores, exchange little acts of kindness through the day, navigate the squabbles and annoyances together: that is, after all, what true love is, in any of its forms. Indian-origin woman Shalini Singh missing in Canada since December, remains found in search

The Hamilton Police found some partial human remains at a landfill and they suspect that the remains probably belong to Indian-origin woman, Shalini Singh, who was missing since December. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Police are awaiting DNA confirmation, which can take weeks, the CBC reported. Shalini Singh's family members reported her missing on December 10, 2024. According to the information provided at the time of her disappearance, Singh, a mental health care worker, last spoke with her family on December 4. She was last seen entering her apartment two days before that, on December 2. Homicide detectives have been conducting an extensive search for Singh at the Glanbrook Landfill on Haldibrook Road since February 24. The search was initially meant to conclude on April 18, but was extended by two weeks, CBC reported. Shalini Singh's parents Anita and Dalip told CBC that police informed them about the remains on May 21. "We wanted to hear that she's safe and she's going to be back home," Dalip said. "But we got the worst news we could've had." "They didn't tell us exactly what they found," Anita said. "They said it's better if we don't know." Her mother said she's afraid to find out what happened to her. "But we have to know what happened to her. And I hope she didn't suffer too much. She didn't deserve this. She deserved the best of everything. Not this." 'She kept saying I love you, mom' Recalling the last phone call that Anita had with her daughter on December 4, her mother said, "She just kept saying, 'I love you, mom, I love you mom, I love you, mom.' And I said, 'What's the matter with you, Shalini? Are you all right?'" "And she hung up all of a sudden." In the following days, there was no trace of Shalini and even her boyfriend. But her boyfriend was later traced, and he did not cooperate in the investigation.
