1 dog killed in Ankeny house fire Monday
ANKENY, Iowa — One dog died in a house fire in Ankeny Monday afternoon.
At around 4:10 p.m. the Ankeny Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire in the 800 block of SE Rio Circle. When firefighters arrived at the scene, they found flames and smoke coming from the home.
Fire guts Marshalltown home early Monday morning
According to the Ankeny Fire Department, no one was home at the time of the fire; however, two dogs were inside. One of the dogs died and the other was transported to a veterinarian for treatment.
The fire department said the fire appears to have started on the back deck and then spread to the home. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
