Cost of Man Utd bomb squad laid bare as Sir Jim Ratcliffe faces up to £213m reality check
Manchester United have worked on finding moves for five players who wanted out of Old Trafford, but it's set to result in hefty losses in the transfer market Manchester United face a harsh reality as the club work on shipping out the players who wish to leave the club this summer. Manager Ruben Amorim left five first-team stars out of his pre-season plans ahead of Marcus Rashford 's loan move to Barcelona, having been informed that Antony, Jadon Sancho, Alejandro Garnacho and Tyrell Malacia also wanted to exit. Recouping money from the so-called 'bomb squad' could bolster United's transfer plans. Yet, the Red Devils have reportedly lowered several of their valuations since the transfer window first opened, which will not be welcome news to United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe. Rashford has sealed his season-long loan move to Barcelona, who have a £26million option to make his stay at the Camp Nou permanent. That is a significant drop from United's reported £100m valuation last April and is even less than the £40m price given to Aston Villa. However, United slashing Rashford's past valuation by £74m is only a fraction of the total £213m United could lose as the club attempt to part with their wantaway players. Garnacho is another player whose price has dropped significantly since the start of the summer. The Argentine winger, who was linked with Chelsea and Napoli, was initially said to be worth £70m. However, United have since almost halved their asking price to £40m. This would represent a £30m difference in what United were expecting to receive from selling the talented 21-year-old, who scored 11 goals across all competitions. The writing appeared to be on the wall following Garnacho's reaction to being named on the bench for the Europa League final last season. In the aftermath, Garnacho said: "Up until the final I played every round helping the team, and today I play 20 minutes, I don't know. The final will influence [my decision] but the whole season, the situation of the club. I'm going to try to enjoy the summer and see what happens afterwards." Antony's productive loan spell at Real Betis last term would have boosted United's hopes of recouping a significant portion of the £82m that they paid Ajax three years ago. The Red Devils quoted around £40m for Betis to sign the winger permanently, having scored nine goals and provided five assists in 26 appearances for the club. The price was deemed too high for Betis, though Antony's valuation has remained around that mark. That would see United take a huge £42m hit on the Brazil international. Sancho is another high-profile signing who has never lived up to expectations at Old Trafford. There was plenty of fanfare when the England winger arrived for £73m in 2021 on the back of his sensational spell at Borussia Dortmund. However, Sancho failed to replicate that form for United before a fallout with ex-manager Erik ten Hag led to him being exiled from the squad in 2023. A brief return to Dortmund and a subsequent loan spell at Chelsea failed to prompt a permanent move. Football Italia has since reported that Juventus have made a £15m offer for Sancho, who is in the final year of his contract. This would be £58m less than his original transfer fee. Meanwhile, full-back Malacia has endured a torrid time with injuries since arriving at United as a £13m signing from Feyenoord in 2022. He spent time on loan at PSV Eindhoven last season, who decided against a permanent deal, and Manchester Evening News has reported that the club need to bank £3.22m to avoid suffering a loss under PSR rules. However, it would be over £9m less than his initial price. Despite the financial hits that the club could take in the transfer market, United boss Amorim has insisted that he would welcome the players back into the fold if no deal can be finalised. 'There are different reasons for the players [left behind],' he said. 'Some players have to find a new place to have more space in the team and other players clearly show they want a new challenge and want new teams. We are just allowing these players to have time to think and to decide. If we reach a point where they have to join the team, they will join the team because they are our players. 'I know for a fact, these people, Jason [Wilcox, technical director], Omar [Berrada, chief executive] and the club have a number for these players. If they don't reach that, they will be Manchester United players, no doubt about that. 'I understand the clubs are waiting for the last minute but they can have a surprise. I'm ready to receive the players, they have more competition, more competition if you want to play in the World Cup next year, so you need to play. I'm really happy with that because I have more options. If they have to fight each other to play one game a week, for me it's perfect.'

Nuns arrest: Kerala BJP leader meets Chhattisgarh Dy CM, says things will be clear soon
Raipur/Thiruvananthapuram: Days after the Chhattisgarh Police arrested three persons, including two nuns, on charges of trafficking and forcibly converting three tribal women, Kerala BJP General Secretary Anoop Antony on Tuesday met Chhattisgarh Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma over the issue. After the meeting, Antony said he had a fruitful meeting with Dy CM Sharma, who also holds the Home portfolio. 'It should be clearly understood that the Anti-Conversion Law in Chhattisgarh is very strict, which became law when the Congress ruled the state,' said Antony. 'A lot of misinformation about this incident is being propagated. It would be nice if people tried to understand the correct picture in Chhattisgarh. It should be understood that there are very areas where tribals reside. Also, there are places where the presence of Maoists is very strong,' said Antony. 'At the meeting, Sharma has promised all help. They have sought legal advice, and the law will take its course. What the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh said was based on the FIR. A detailed probe will be there,' added Antony, who further pointed out that three Chhattisgarh women hail from the area where Maoists have had a foothold, and where even the land records do not exist. The nuns, Preeti Mary and Vandana Francis, attached to the Assisi Sisters of Mary Immaculate, a congregation under the Syro-Malabar Church in Alappuzha district, were working at a hospital in Agra. On Saturday, the two nuns and the man, identified as Sukhman Mandavi, were accompanying the three women from Chhattisgarh's Narayanpur district to Agra, Uttar Pradesh, where they had been offered jobs as kitchen helpers at a Convent. While they were waiting at the Chhattisgarh railway station, they were stopped by Bajrang Dal activists, and the police also arrived on the scene. Both the nuns and the man were taken into custody and later produced before a local court, which sent them to judicial custody. Soon this became a big issue in Kerala, and on Tuesday, a three-member team of Kerala Lok Sabha members -- Benny Behanan, N.K. Premachandran and Francis George reached Chhattisgarh. 'We are going to the jail where the nuns are put up. We will also meet with officials to find out everything,' said Behanan. Premachandran said all that has happened is with the knowledge of the state administration, while George said it's surprising that baseless charges of human trafficking and conversion are being spread. Father Sabu Joseph, attached to the Raipur diocese, said, "Let the authorities find out what these sisters are doing there. Anyone knowing a nun's job will understand what they have done and what they are doing.' Meanwhile, the Church leaders are contemplating to move a bail plea for the two arrested nuns.

Cristiano Ronaldo's Al Nassr want Man Utd outcast and Chelsea standout
Cristiano Ronaldo's team are looking to strengthen this summer (Picture: Getty Images) Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr are plotting a big summer of spending as they target new signings from the Premier League. Cristiano Ronaldo's side finished third in the Saudi top flight last season and are looking to make ground on champions Al Ittihad and Al Hilal, who were runners-up. They have already agreed a deal to sign Joao Felix from Chelsea, with the 25-year-old set to finalise his move from Stamford Bridge imminently. Despite an entirely forgettable spell with the Blues, which saw him loaned out to AC Milan, they have managed to sell him to Saudi in a deal worth up to £43.7m. Al Nassr are looking to continue their spending, with another Chelsea player on their radar, with somewhat shock interest arising in Marc Cucurella. While the Blues were more than happy to get rid of Felix, they are absolutely not looking to sell the Spanish left-back who has been a key player under Enzo Maresca. The 27-year-old played 54 times for Chelsea in all competitions last season, scoring seven goals and is set to remain first choice in the next campaign. Marc Cucurella lifted the Club World Cup trophy with Chelsea (Picture: Getty Images) He made a slow start after his move from Brighton in 2022, but the Spain international has developed into a big player for the Blues. Spanish publication Marca report that Al Nassr intend to bid for Cucurella and it would likely be a huge offer from the Saudi side. However, report that Chelsea have no intention of selling their starting left-back. Al Nassr will likely have better luck in their target at Old Trafford, as they are also interested in signing Manchester United outcast Antony. Antony is available for transfer at Manchester United (Picture: Getty Images) Brazilian outlet UOL report the interest in the winger, with Manchester United hoping to get £50m for the player who spent the second half of last season on loan at Real Betis. The Red Devils paid £82m for his services in 2022, but even £50m now feels like an ambitious price tag to put on him. More Trending Foot Mercato have reported that Al Nassr have gone as far as making an offer for the Brazil international, although did not confirm who much that bid was worth. Antony Premier League stats Apps: 62 Goals: 5 Assists: 3 Antony has also attracted interest from Brazil, with Botafogo and his boyhood club Sao Paulo making enquiries to the player and United. But Brazilian outlet Antenados claim Antony has rejected a potential return to his home country, telling both clubs he is not considering a move back to Brazil at this stage of his career. Antony reportedly thanked Botafogo and Sao Paulo for their approaches but informed them he was not currently interested in a return to Brazil. Al-Nassr submit offer to sign Manchester United's Antony
Al-Nassr have made an official approach to sign Manchester United winger Antony (Foot Mercato). The Saudi Pro League side club looking to bring in fresh faces to help new manager Jorge Jesus compete strongly across all fronts next season. They are close to landing Chelsea's forward Joao Felix, and he could team up with Antony in Saudi Arabia. Al-Nassr aim to add more firepower to their attack Antony joined United for €100 million in 2022, but he failed to impress. Despite making a bright start, the winger struggled to keep his place in the side. He was sent on loan to Spanish side Real Betis and helped them reach the final of the Europa Conference League. Antony showed flashes of the quality that earned him a big-money move from Ajax. The 25-year-old ended the season with 10 goals and five assists across all competitions, regaining some confidence in the process. However, United manager Ruben Amorim has no place for the winger in his long-term plans. The Red Devils are now open to letting the Brazilian leave, and Al-Nassr could be a potential destination. There is no clarity on the fee being offered by the Saudi club, but United are expected to seriously consider a deal.
