Anurag Kashyap says people started using more gore and violence in films after 'Animal' became a hit: 'What has happened since KGF, Salaar...'

Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap recently voiced his concerns about the direction modern Indian cinema is taking. Anurag and filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma came together to share some of their initial days and struggles in the industry. In a conversation with India TV, Anurag and Ram did not hold back while reacting to the trend of recent films copying the same theme in an attempt to succeed at the box office. Anurag about the impact Sairat Reflecting on the 2016 Marathi blockbuster 'Sairat', Anurag Kashyap said he had expected the film to inspire a wave of grounded storytelling. Instead, he noted, it sparked a shift towards formula-driven filmmaking. 'What has happened since KGF , Salaar is that you wonder, why does the DI of all the films look the same? In Animal (2023), the gore and violence worked. Hence, filmmakers are now including more and more gore in their films—sometimes without reason! That for me is a scary part because then people start chasing a wrong goal post, "Kashyap remarked. Ram Gopal Varma about big budget movies He further observed that many directors seem to lack the ambition to craft a true cinematic experience, instead clinging to formulas derived from isolated decisions. In the same conversation, Ram Gopal Varma drew from his own experiences. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like CFD: Invertir $250 en Amazon podría devolverte un segundo salario Capital Markets Undo 'I never consciously thought of making Satya (1998) on a low budget. I spent what was required, and that created authenticity and realism. If I had spent Rs. 5 crores more, Satya's quality would have been five times worse!' he said. Varma went on to critique the industry's shift post-Baahubali, where, according to him, the increased focus on high budgets and special effects has come at the expense of genuine storytelling. He believes that making big-budget films is now the trend, and that emotional values are lacking in today's cinema. Madhavan replaced me, Anurag Kashyap made me believe I had the ‘best role' in Guru but I was ‘hurt', recalls Arjan Bajwa

Director Mani Ratnam, who is getting ready to release his next film, Thug Life, has been making movies since the 1980s. He is one of the few Indian directors who has made films across various Indian languages. His 2007 film Guru, which starred Abhishek Bachchan in the lead role, was co-written by Anurag Kashyap. In a recent interview, actor Arjan Bajwa shared that he felt he was misled by Anurag when he was cast in the film, for what he thought was a pivotal role. Arjan shared that he initially auditioned for the role that was eventually done by R Madhavan. He said that he read for another role as well and here, he was made to believe by Kashyap that this would be a substantial role in the film. In a chat with Siddharth Kannan, Arjan shared that when he auditioned for the role of Shyam Saxena (played by Madhavan), he got a call from Anurag Kashyap, who told Arjan, 'Don't get excited but Mani sir saw your audition and really liked it.' Anurag told him it was a 'great role' but after that, he didn't hear anything from the team. 'Then I got to know that Madhavan is doing it. I realised that Mani sir has launched him in Tamil so I am sure he has some bonding with him. He thinks maybe Madhavan is apt for that role. To be honest, I was quite disheartened,' he said. Soon after this, he got another call from a member of Mani's direction team, and they asked him to read for another role. Arjan said that this audition happened in front of Mani Ratnam, and for the first few minutes, he was completely in awe of the director. 'Mani sir took a Handycam and recorded me doing it. He said 'good'. An actor waits to hear things like that,' he recalled, and said that after this audition, he called Anurag again. Anurag said I will give you the script and it is the best role. He said you will be growing old from 28 to 68. But when we were shooting, the role was shrunk. It was impactful but it was a very small role,' he said. When asked if the role was chopped on the editing table, Arjan shared that they didn't even shoot most of what existed on paper, as far as his role was concerned. He shared that he was 'hurt' with this and added, 'I was hurt with that. I don't know what the reasons behind this were, because this happens with everyone. Maybe the director sees things differently and an actor wants to prove his mettle. So this kind of stuff happens.' Arjan played the role of Arzan Contractor in the film. Alongside Bachchan, the film also starred Aishwarya Rai, Vidya Balan, Mithun Chakraborty.

Police bust betting racket during women's cricket match in Indore

Indore: In a late-night operation on Wednesday, Rajendra Nagar police searched a cricket turf and busted a betting racket that was operating under the guise of a women's cricket match. Additional DCP Alok Sharma said that the match was being streamed live on YouTube under the name 'Female Indoor Cricket League', while bets were being placed through a mobile application called '1X' allegedly operated from Delhi. Sharma said that the authorities received intelligence about these activities for some time, particularly regarding matches held at a turf near Treasure Town Colony in Bijalpur, where female players participated in seemingly legitimate games that were used as a front for illegal online betting. Acting on this information, the police team reached the location and detained Anurag Dalal, who was living at a rented accommodation in Treasure Town and is originally from Delhi. During questioning, Anurag revealed that the entire operation was orchestrated by his friend Siddharth Rai, who resides in Delhi. According to Anurag, Siddharth handled the live broadcast of the matches on YouTube and facilitated the betting transactions using a specially developed application. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 不加糖「愛文芒果乾」,每顆鮮果只取2片製作,品質高口感好,超85%用戶回購 Foodmall 立即選購 Undo Based on this revelation, Siddharth has also been named as an accused, and efforts are underway to track him down, along with other individuals involved in the network. "It is a matter of investigation if the women knew about the betting. Actions will be taken if necessary," he said. The police seized several electronic items from the site, including two mobile phones, a customised CPU, two monitors, two cameras, a UPS, a Cyber Power DVR and a router. In addition, a diary containing betting records and approximately Rs 35,000 in cash were also recovered. The police are now analysing technical evidence to expose the full extent of the betting syndicate.
