Rahil fights off a strong challenge to win Pro-Stock 301-400cc race
Rahil Pillarisetty and Savion Sabu hogged the limelight with contrasting victories in the two premier Pro-Stock categories as the Rolon Round of the MRF MMSC FMSCI Indian National Motorcycle Racing Championship concluded at the Kari Motor Speedway here on Sunday. While 27-year-old Rahil (RACR Castrol Power1) fought off a strong challenge to win the Pro-Stock 301-400cc Open race, Savion swept to a comfortable victory, his second of the weekend, for Mad Rabbit Racing team. Savion's teammate Varun Patil topped the Stock 301-400cc (Novice) race for his second win in four starts this season. Raj Kumar took the honours in the Super Stock 165cc Intermediate as he led a 1-2 finish for Motul Sparks Racing with Mohamed Samrul Zubair in tow. Meanwhile, Daniel Lalhriatkima and Johring Warisa scripted history of sorts by delivering a first double podium for Yakuza Racing India, which was formed only this year. Daniel finished first and Johring came in third behind Hari Haran (RACR Castrol Power1) in the Stock 165cc (Novice) race. National Motorcycle Racing Championships: Rahil pulls off an upset win over Sarthak
Hyderabad's Rahil Pillarisetty (RACR Castrol Power1) pulled off his first win in four years as he pipped favourite Sarthak Chavan, the Pune teenager, to claim the honours in the premier Pro-Stock 301-400cc Open race even as the first round of the MRF-MMSC-FMSCI National Motorcycle Racing Championships came to an abrupt end due to a thunderstorm at the Madras International Circuit here on Sunday. The heavy rains accompanied by strong winds early afternoon caused considerable damage to the facility while it also forced cancellation of day's remaining two races which will be run in the second round in August. Earlier, Ann Jennifer (RACR Castrol Power1) from Chennai and Bengaluru's Varun Patil (Mad Rabbit Racing) completed a double apiece in the Girls (Stock 165cc) and Stock 301-400cc (Novice) categories, respectively, while young Kedarnadh (Motul KTM Gusto Racing) from Tirupati topped the Stock 165cc (Novice) race. Sarthak Chavan, Savion Sabu top Pro-Stock races
Teenage sensations Sarthak Chavan and Savion Sabu won in the 301-400cc Open and the 165-200cc Open, respectively, in the first round of the MRF MMSC fmsci Indian National Motorcycle Racing Championship at the Madras International Circuit here on Saturday. The 18-year-old Sarthak, of Petronas TVS Racing, got past the pole-sitter Rahil Pillarisetty (RACR Castrol Power1) with a brilliant pass at Turn 11 on the last lap after trailing him throughout the six-lap race, the margin of victory being two-hundredths of a second. Savion (Mad Rabbit Racing), the 17-year-old who started from pole, made it a lights-to-flag win in the Pro-Stock 165-200cc Open class race. He held off experienced rivals, P.M. Rahil, Savion Sabu grab pole positions in Pro-Stock categories
Rahil Pillarisetty (RACR Castrol Power1) ended his four-year wait for pole position as he topped qualifying in the premier Pro-Stock 301-400cc category in the first round of the MRF MMSC fmsci Indian National Motorcycle Racing Championship at the Madras International Circuit (MIC) here on Friday. Later, riding under dark rain clouds, the 17-year-old Savion Sabu (Mad Rabbit Racing) qualified for pole position in the Pro-Stock 165-200cc, the new class this season. Equally impressive was 22-year-old Lal Nunsanga (Motul Sparks Racing), who grabbed pole position in the Novice (Stock 165cc) class. It was his first pole in six years, the last being in the Idemitsu Honda India Talent Cup. Mohamed Mikhail (Mad Rabbit Racing), a graduate from the Idemitsu Honda India Talent Cup, also qualified for the pole position in the Stock 301-400cc (Novice) class.
