YouTube fans warned app will stop working on seven popular gadgets including some iPhones as major update rolls out
YOUTUBE'S app will soon stop working on a number of popular devices including some iPhone models. The Google -owned platform has put out an update meaning selected older gadgets are no longer compatible. 1 YouTube now requires a minimum of iOS 16 installed on iPhones instead of iOS 15, and iPadOS 16 on iPads. More recent products are able to run iOS 16 and later so they're unaffected. But as with any software update, there is a cut off eventually. There are seven Apple devices that are too old to run iOS 16 / iPadOS 16 so they can't use the new YouTube app. This includes the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, which were released back in 2016. APPLE is making it cheaper for users to repair more of the company's most-loved gadgets. iPhone fans could already get hold of self service repair kits to carry out upgrades themselves instead of paying someone else to do it. 1 The option provides customers with access to repair manuals, genuine Apple parts, Apple Diagnostics troubleshooting sessions, tools, and rental toolkits. And now Apple has announced that iPad owners can finally go down the self service repair route too. But it's not for tech novices: most people will be much safer going to an Apple Store, or another authorised repair outlet. If you're tech savvy and dead-set on repairing your own device, Apple has lots of support for you. From tomorrow (Thursday) it will be available for the following models: iPad Air (M2 and later) iPad Pro (M4) iPad mini (A17 Pro) iPad (A16) Apple is launching it with access to key components including displays, batteries, cameras, and external charging ports. With iPads now covered, the Self Service Repair Store works for a total of 65 Apple devices, not only including iPhones but also the MacBook Air and Mac Studio. "At Apple, our goal is to create the world's greatest products that last as long as possible," explained Brian Naumann, Apple's vice president of AppleCare. "With today's announcement, we're excited to expand our repair services to more customers, enabling them to further extend the life of their products — all without compromising safety, security, or privacy." How to use Apple's Self Service Repair option The first step is to review the online repair manual for your device. Then you can order the parts and tools that you need. You'll enter a unique code from the repair manual to show that you'd had a look at it. And then select which bits you actually need and pay for them - and select any rental tools you need too. Once your gear has arrived, you'll repair your device. If you've rented a tool set then you'll have seven days to get this done. There's also an option to use your own tools for this. Apple is offering MORE money for your old iPhone over the next few weeks – exactly how much you could receive per model
APPLE has raised the trade-in values of several of its most popular devices. However, iPhone users only have a limited time to make use of the deal before it runs out. 3 3 The deal will include most versions of the mobile device from the iPhone 8 right up to the iPhone 15 Pro Max. iPhone 15 Pro Max devices will now get you a staggering £660 when traded in, while the regular iPhone 15 can get you as much as £410. Meanwhile, even older devices like the iPhone 13 can help you earn up to £270 in store credit. The iPhone 8 will only earn £50 in store credit, though, as it heads onto Apple's dreaded vintage list. The deal ends on June 18 in the UK. The vintage list is the category in which Apple places older devices before making them obsolete. iPhone 7 Plus devices will be joining the iPhone 8 in the vintage list too, making repair services for the devices difficult to find. The iPhone 6s and 2018 Mac Mini have also been added to the list. Normally, products are added to the vintage list after they have been on the market for five years. After seven years, they are regarded as obsolete. The tech company has raised its trade-in prices across several countries as well as the UK, including the US, Canada, Japan, France, Germany, Australia, Italy, Spain and China.
