Apple TV Plus drops first look at 'Ted Lasso' season 4 — here's who's confirmed to return

'Ted Lasso' season 4 is finally happening, with filming now officially underway. After weeks of scarce updates, fans can finally breathe a sigh of relief. Hannah Waddingham recently confirmed that 'Ted Lasso' season 4 would start filming in July (which is now clearly true), and Apple CEO Tim Cook shared a first look at the new season on Twitter ( currently known as X). The image, featuring returning cast members Jason Sudeikis, Juno Temple, Jeremy Swift, and Waddingham herself, is the clearest sign yet that AFC Richmond isn't hanging up its cleats just yet. Apple TV Plus also released a quick heart-warming video featuring the 'Ted Lasso' characters sharing laughs and bonding around a diner table, giving fans a cozy sneak peek at the team's dynamic in season 4. While season 3 wrapped up in a way that felt like a series finale, the creative team always left the door open. Now that 'Ted Lasso' season 4 is official, it might not be the same story fans are used to. Co-creator Bill Lawrence has hinted at a new direction, saying season 4 would tell a 'different story,' and even described it as 'almost a self-reboot.' Although season 4 is still planned to take place in London, filming is reportedly beginning in the United States. Since the season 3 finale showed Ted heading back to America, it's likely that the new season will pick up from that moment. Judging by Cook's post, this moment could easily serve as a strong and fitting way to start the season. Whether it's a continuation, a soft relaunch, or a whole new direction, one thing is clear: the world of 'Ted Lasso' isn't done just yet. And with production underway, fans can start getting excited for what's next. As production for 'Ted Lasso' season 4 is underway, several key cast members are set to return, along with some new faces. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. Jason Sudeikis will, of course, lead the new team as Coach Ted Lasso. Hannah Waddingham reprises her role as Rebecca Welton, the club's owner. Juno Temple brings her vibrant energy back to the team as Keeley Jones, while Brett Goldstein continues as Roy Kent, the seasoned veteran whose passion and experience remain a driving force on and off the field. Jeremy Swift reprises his role as Leslie, the team's operations director. Brendan Hunt returns as Coach Beard, Ted's loyal assistant whose unique coaching style adds a distinctive touch to the team's strategy. Additionally, Grant Feely has been cast as Henry, Ted's son, marking a recasting from previous seasons. The cast will also welcome several new faces, including Faye Marsay, Tanya Reynolds, Jude Mack, Abbie Hern, Rex Hayes, and Aisling Sharkey. While their exact roles remain under wraps, it's likely they'll be playing members of the revamped AFC Richmond women's team. Apple hasn't announced an official release date for 'Ted Lasso' season 4 yet, but expect more updates as production progresses. In the meantime, all three previous seasons of 'Ted Lasso' are available for streaming on Apple TV Plus. Ted Lasso Kicks Off Season 4 Filming in Kansas City. Here's What We Know So Far

Cue the biscuits and believe signs: Ted Lasso is officially back on the pitch as Apple TV Plus confirmed Monday that production on the Emmy-winning comedy's fourth season has officially begun. Filming has started in Kansas City, Missouri -- Jason Sudeikis's hometown -- with additional scenes planned for London. Season 4 of the streaming series will find Ted tackling an entirely new challenge as he takes on coaching a second division women's football team. According to Apple's logline, you can expect plenty of leaps of faith and signature pep talks as Ted and his players navigate unfamiliar turf. Most of the beloved cast returns for the next chapter, including Sudeikis, Hannah Waddingham, Juno Temple, Brett Goldstein, Brendan Hunt and Jeremy Swift. A handful of newcomers are joining the squad, too: Tanya Reynolds, Jude Mack, Faye Marsay, Rex Hayes, Aisling Sharkey, Abbie Hern and Grant Feely, who steps in as Ted's son, Henry. There is no release date set for Season 4 yet.

5 top new shows to stream this week on Netflix, Apple TV and more (July 21-27)

The heat wave isn't just outside — TV's heating up, too. With new shows premiering this week on Netflix, Apple TV Plus and other streaming services, as well as on broadcast and cable TV, the small screen is sizzling. There's plenty to keep you entertained. 'The Sandman' season 2 volume 2 concludes the dark fantasy story of Dream, while the historical drama "Washington Black" chronicles a voyage of freedom and discovery. Plus, "South Park" is set to begin its 27th season (maybe). Here are our top picks for new TV shows to watch this week. 'Acapulco' is back for one last splash. In its final season, the bilingual comedy jumps between present-day Máximo (Eugenio Derbez), trying to bring Las Colinas back to life, and 1986, where young Máximo (Enrique Arrizon) is pulling every trick in the book to reclaim the hotel's top spot in Acapulco. Grab a cocktail to toast one more trip to paradise that will be filled with nostalgia, neon and bittersweet memories. Episodes 1-2 premiere Wednesday, July 23 at 12 a.m. ET on Apple TV Plus This epic limited series charts the extraordinary life of a boy who refuses to be defined by the world that enslaved him. Born on a Barbados sugar plantation, young Wash (played by Eddie Karanja as a boy and by Ernest Kingsley Jr. as a young man) escapes with the help of an eccentric inventor (Tom Ellis). Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. Wash's globe-spanning odyssey involves flying machines, bounty hunters, Arctic expeditions and the sometimes painful discovery of what freedom really means. Based on Esi Edugyan's acclaimed novel, the drama features Sterling K. Brown as the narrator and protector. All 8 episodes premiere Wednesday, July 23 at 12 a.m. ET on Hulu 'South Park' returns … maybe? Season 27 is supposed to drop July 23, but the date is still shaky as Trey Parker and Matt Stone are in the middle of a $3 billion 's**t show' (their words) with Paramount and Skydance. But if it does drop, expect the usual expletive-laden chaos. The trailer teases ketamine trips, jetpack Diddy, a war with Canada and plumbing disasters (ew). The streaming rights mess is a headache, but the satire's still sharp. Episode 1 premieres Wednesday, July 23 at 10 p.m. ET on Comedy Central (via Sling or Fubo) Andy Samberg's washed-up archaeologist Rip Digman is back, and the adventures are crazier and the guest stars are somehow even bigger this time around. Rip, still rocking his unplaceable accent, embarks on more meth-fueled globetrotting and ancient artifact nonsense. If Indiana Jones and Zoolander had a bonkers animated baby, this would be it. Mitra Jouhari, Tim Robinson, Melissa Fumero and the rest of the crew return, joined by a truly bonkers roster of guest voices, including Mark Hamill, Kate Winslet and Jeffrey Wright. Episode 1 premieres Wednesday, July 23 at 10:30 p.m. ET on Comedy Central (via Sling or Fubo) When last we saw Dream (Tom Sturridge), he did the one thing the Endless are forbidden to do: He killed his own son. Now, in volume 2, the fallout begins. The Kindly Ones are coming, the Dreaming is unraveling and Morpheus is left to reckon with the cost of mercy. These final five episodes bring the story to its breaking point, as Dream faces gods, monsters and the consequences of centuries of pride. Even Destiny (Adrian Lester) can't promise a way out. And when the dust settles, next week's bonus episode centered on Death (Kirby Howell-Baptiste) delivers one last, devastating grace note. All 5 episodes premiere Thursday, July 24 at 3 a.m. ET on Netflix
