One of our favourite Android smartwatches is less than half price in this limited Prime Day deal
The Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra is a top rugged smartwatch designed for adventurers and athletes. It's essentially Samsung's answer to the Apple Watch Ultra – it even looks the part. But it is a good option for Android users, blending WearOS smarts with extreme sports capability. And there's never been a better time to buy it thanks to this Prime Day deal. Right now, you can score the Galaxy Watch Ultra for less than half price on Amazon US. The rugged smartwatch is 54% off, down to $300 from the usual price of $650. This Lightning deal only lasts for 24 hours, but may sell out sooner – so make sure to shop fast. UK shoppers get a slightly smaller discount, but no time limited. The Galaxy Watch Ultra is 42% off, down to £349 from the regular price of £599. Note that only certain colours are reduced in these deals. We scored the Galaxy Watch Ultra a full five stars in our review. Its 47mm titanium case makes it tough and weather-resistant, although it's bulkier than previous Galaxy Watches. We love its bold design, complete with a sharp AMOLED screen, bright 3000 nits display, and durability for outdoor use. However, it only offers a two-day battery life, which feels a bit short, especially compared to Garmin's sport watches. While this smartwatch excels in fitness tracking, offering accurate heart rate monitoring, dual-frequency GPS, and a multi-sports mode for triathletes, it lags in handling watersports—Apple's Watch Ultra has the edge there. Its design, square case but circular screen, is eye-catching, although we aren't thrilled about Samsung's proprietary lugs limiting band options. With WearOS 5, performance is smooth and responsive, and although it shares many features with the Galaxy Watch7, the Ultra justifies its price with a more rugged, premium feel. For Android users looking for a robust, statement-making watch, this is a strong contender, even if it falls short in battery life and watersport compatibility. Overall, it's a powerhouse that competes confidently with Garmin and Apple, but with its own flair.

iPhone 17 Pro gets new colors
According to a new rumor, the upcoming iPhone 17 Pro will be offered in four colors: black, dark blue, silver, and orange. These are showcased in the image below, although this isn't a leak, just representative of what we should expect. The source says the dark blue is incredibly dark, so much so that it can look black in some ambient light conditions. It's apparently inspired by the Blue Titanium colorway of the iPhone 16 Pro. The black option is reminiscent of Black Titanium but with a matte finish. Silver is apparently closest to White Titanium, being "bright with warmer undertones". Finally what is most likely going to be the hero color is orange, inspired by the Action Button on the Apple Watch Ultra (yes, really), it's described as "vibrant yet balanced" and a perfect fit for those who aren't into understated hues. The iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max are rumored to switch back to aluminum frames after a few years of experimentation, first with stainless steel, and then titanium. In case you've been wondering what's happened to previously leaked colorways like green, purple, and "Sky Blue", those are allegedly coming to other models - the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Air. That said, there's also a surprise additional color that will be leaked soon, so stay tuned for that. Apple iPhone 16 Pro Source

Get a free Samsung Galaxy Watch - tech editor shares where to find it
Our tech commerce editor has found a way to get a Samsung smartwatch for free A smartwatch is often considered one of the best accessories to pair with a phone, a close contender to a speedy pair of wireless earphones. Whether it's the newest Apple Watch Ultra, a flagship Galaxy Watch, or a cheaper fitness-based alternative like Fitbit or Garmin. Anyone on the lookout for an Android-pairing wearable, we've found a way to get a Samsung Watch completely free. The Galaxy Watch7 BT usually retails for more than £280, but it's been slashed to £0 for Carphone Warehouse shoppers. The catch is, consumers will have to buy a Samsung mobile to claim the 2024 model. As a tech commerce editor, scouring sites for deals and standout perks is something I do each day, and it's not often you see a free smartwatch offered to shoppers - I've rounded up exactly what shoppers need to do to qualify. First up, the handset. The deal is only available on the S24 FE device, the 'fan edition' of last year's S range. As a quick background, this model is designed to offer similar features to the Galaxy S24 range but cuts back on processor speeds and sensors to justify the cheaper price. Another thing worth flagging to S24 FE shoppers, is the handsets cameras aren't as advanced as the standard S24 range. In comparison to the S24 usual £759 price - or now £659 in Samsung's sale - the S24 FE is £599 at Carphone Warehouse. But there's also the option to pick an iD Mobile plan and spread the cost across a 24-month plan - although we'd should point out that this comes with an £89.99 upfront fee. Buying a brand-new mobile isn't the only way to get a good deal on a wearable accessory. Amazon is offering a cheaper price on the fitness Fitbit trackers - this Inspire 3 model is now £58.99. The Garmin Forerunner, which is a step up from Fitbit with advanced training guidance, is reduced to £122.99 at Amazon too. The next point to flag is crucial, and not one made obvious on the shopping listing. The free watch is only available to claim to shoppers who pick a specific colour of the S24 FE mobile - green to be precise. This can be found in the small print of the Samsung T&C's - which we trailed through, here. Once Samsung shoppers have bought the Galaxy S23 FE mobile, they have 30 days after purchase to claim the £0 Galaxy Watch, of course with proof of purchase and by the July 29 deadline. And there's lots of retailer options. Personally, this is a part of the offer which I rate, as shoppers can take their own time to compare prices about the participating retailers. Which include Sky Mobile, so ideal for pay-as-you-go consumers, Very, Asda Mobile and Argos (to name a few). For those contemplating rival Sky Mobile, the handset starts at £18 per month, with data added on top. The provider is also running an offer on data anyone who picks 25GB of monthly data will get it doubled for free for a 12-month period. The only downside to Sky is its longer plans, which compared to the above 24-month iD Mobile plan, it's a much longer contract at a minimum 36-months.

Apple plans new health features, satellite connectivity for Watch Ultra 3
Apple is expected to launch the third-generation Apple Watch Ultra later this year. According to a report from 9to5Mac, citing Bloomberg, the Apple Watch Ultra 3 will introduce key new features focused on health tracking and off-grid communication. These include high blood pressure detection, satellite-based messaging, and support for 5G Redcap connectivity. Other than a Black Titanium version, there have not been any major changes to the Apple Watch Ultra since 2023. However, the upcoming model could deliver a significant change. Here are the advanced features expected to debut with the next generation model: Apple Watch Ultra 3: New features High Blood pressure detection According to the report, the Apple Watch Ultra 3 will feature high blood pressure detection capabilities. This feature will not provide exact blood pressure readings but will notify users if they show signs of hypertension. The device is not expected to display specific diastolic or systolic numbers but will alert users when irregular blood pressure patterns are observed. The feature works similar to how the watch currently detects conditions like sleep apnea, providing early warnings rather than detailed medical data. Satellite Messaging The Apple Watch Ultra 3 will support satellite messaging, which is designed for outdoor enthusiasts and adventurers. This will allow users to send text messages via satellite when cellular or Wi-Fi connections are not in range, enabling "off-the-grid" communication. The device will likely use Globalstar's satellite network, the same provider that Apple has used for satellite connectivity on iPhones since the launch of iPhone 14 series. The Watch Ultra 3 marks the first time Apple brings satellite support directly to the Watch. 5G Redcap connectivity Another addition coming to Apple's Ultra Watch 3 is the 5G Redcap support. The 5G Redcap is a more energy-efficient version of 5G, which is ideal for wearables. This 5G version offers better speed without significantly impacting battery life. This standard is designed to bridge the gap between full-fledged 5G and LTE. It will replace the existing 4G LTE connectivity, which has been the limit for previous Ultra models. What more? In addition to these three features, the Apple Watch Ultra 3 is also expected to include a faster chip and an upgraded OLED display, likely aligning with the anticipated Apple Watch Series 10 models.
