Meryl Streep to Return for ‘Only Murders in the Building' Season 5
Meryl Streep is set to return for Season 5 of 'Only Murders in the Building,' reprising her role as Loretta Durkin. The news was revealed in an X post from the Hulu comedy series' official account with the caption: 'Gird your loins, Meryl is returning for Season 5! That's all.' The post included a video in which star Selena Gomez asks Streep: 'So you're coming back for Season 5?' Streep replies: 'Well, I think that depends on…,' before being interrupted by Gomez who says 'No, no, no, that wasn't a question.' Gird your loins, Meryl is returning for Season 5! That's all. #OMITB — Only Murders in the Building (@OnlyMurdersHulu) May 29, 2025 The Season 4 finale saw Loretta and Oliver Putnam (Martin Short) tie the knot after the trio successfully took down Sazz Pataki's (Jane Lynch) killer. But a new TV role had Durkin headed to New Zealand at the end of the season, prompting a question as to whether Streep would return for Season 5's mystery. 'I find it very hard to imagine Loretta not being a part of this television show now, and I've told Meryl this and I think she feels similarly. It's all in giving something worth enough,' showrunner John Hoffman previously told TheWrap back in October when asked about Streep's potential return. 'I wondered if a lot of people were worried that we were going to do something terrible to Loretta at the end of this season, but I couldn't imagine doing that. Truthfully, I have nothing but huge wishes that we get to do more with her without question. It's all about getting the right story for her and getting her something worthy.' In addition to Gomez, Short, Streep and Steve Martin, Season 5 will feature a new lineup of celebrity guest stars including Tea Leoni, who returns as Sofia Caccimelio following an appearance at the end of Season 4, as well as newcomers Logan Lerman, Renee Zellweger, Christophe Waltz, Keegan Michael Key and Beanie Feldstein. Other recurring cast members since Season 1 include Michael Cyril Creighton as Howard, Jackie Hoffman as Uma and Da'Vine Joy Randolph as Detective Donna Williams. A premiere date for the Hulu comedy series' fifth season, which will see the trio track down the killer of Arconia doorman Lester (Teddy Coluca), has not yet been announced. 'Only Murders in the Building,' which comes from 20th Television, is created by Martin and Hoffman. Martin, Gomez, Short, Hoffman, Dan Fogelman and Jess Rosenthal serve as executive producers. The first four seasons of 'Only Murders in the Building' are available to stream now on Hulu. The post Meryl Streep to Return for 'Only Murders in the Building' Season 5 appeared first on TheWrap.

Kelly Clarkson's new song inspired by Only Murders In The Building
Kelly Clarkson's new song was inspired by 'Only Murders In The Building'. The 43-year-old singer / songwriter revealed she was so touched by the on-screen romance between Martin Short's character Oliver Putnam and Meryl Streep's alter-ego Loretta Durkin that she decided to write a song about them. She explained on her SiriusXM show: 'It's Martin Short's face. He says to Meryl Streep's character in the show, 'Where have you been?' 'He's like in awe, and I was like, 'Has anyone written a song?' Because the song is happy, because it's like you found something that you thought was almost basically a unicorn and did not exist.' Clarkson sings on the ballad: 'Where have you been?/ What took so long?/ I thought I'd found you/ Found out I was wrong. I almost gave up/ My light was so dim/ And now, here you are/ Where have you been?' On the fourth season of the show, Short and Streep's characters got married in a ceremony held at the Arconia, where the show is based. Meanwhile, in 2023, Clarkson worked with 'Only Murders' star Steve Martin on her song 'I Hate Love' from the album 'Chemistry', where he played the banjo. Speaking at her own concert, she said: 'I'm a huge Steve Martin fan because I'm alive and breathing. I had this crazy idea, I was telling Jesse Shatkin, my producer, I was like, 'Do you think he'd play on it, because he's like a b***** musician?' And I really wanted banjo. He said yes!'

Selena Gomez teases Logan Lerman joining Only Murders in the Building season 5 cast
A casual Instagram post by Selena Gomez has fans buzzing about actor Logan Lerman potentially joining Season 5 of Hulu's hit mystery-comedy Only Murders in the Building. Gomez shared behind-the-scenes photos from the set on April 5 with the caption 'a few memories.' One image included cast regulars Martin Short and Steve Martin alongside Gomez—and notably, actors Renée Zellweger, Christoph Waltz, and Logan Lerman. While Hulu has not officially confirmed Lerman's involvement, the group shot strongly suggests he is part of the upcoming ensemble. The fifth season is already in production and will center on the murder of Lester, The Arconia's longtime doorman, whose body was found in the building's fountain at the end of Season 4. It will also follow the mysterious disappearance of Nicky Caccimelio, who has ties to a crime family. Nicky's wife, Sofia (played by Téa Leoni), appeared in the closing moments of the previous season, seeking help from the trio. The main cast—Gomez, Short, and Martin—will return, joined by new additions Zellweger, Waltz, Keegan-Michael Key, and now possibly Lerman. The photo has sparked fan theories about Lerman's role, with some guessing he could play the child of Zellweger or Waltz's characters. Others wonder if he might be a new love interest for Gomez's Mabel, who's had several romantic entanglements in earlier seasons. Though no official casting announcement has been made, the buzz around Lerman's involvement has added to the anticipation. With its blend of comedy, suspense, and celebrity cameos, Season 5 promises another intriguing—and possibly star-studded—chapter in the Arconia's ongoing saga.
