Prairieville man arrested on multiple child pornography charges
BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — A man from Prairieville has been arrested on multiple child pornography charges following an investigation by the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office's Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Taskforce. APSO said Kyle Ardoin, 18, was taken into custody and charged with two counts of pornography involving juveniles under the age of 13 and one count of pornography involving juveniles. The investigation began on April 9, when the ICAC Taskforce received a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Detectives discovered that Ardoin had allegedly received and saved graphic images depicting child sexual abuse. A warrant was issued for his arrest. The sheriff's office said Ardoin was later found in Pike County, Mississippi, where he was taken into custody and transported back to Ascension Parish. He is currently being held at the Ascension Parish Jail. Authorities said the investigation is ongoing. Family of slain Ville Platte man spoke out after his death
VILLE PLATTE, La. (KLFY)- The family of 31-year-old Cawaskee Ardoin told News 10 they are heartbroken over his death. Ardoin was killed in a shooting late Wednesday night. The Ville Platte Police Department said they were called to the Gabriel Villa Apartments around 8:30 Wednesday night. After arriving on the scene, authorities said they found Ardoin dead with gunshot wounds. Ardoin left behind his 6-year-old daughter with his girlfriend, Dutchess Thomas. Thomas told News 10 it will be difficult to have a conversation with their daughter about her father passing away. 'They took somebody who mean the world to my daughter, and that is so hurtful, because I don't even know the words to tell my own child,' said Thomas. 'That's the main thing, nobody deserves to be left useless, so for the family the question is why.' Subscribe Now Ardoin's loved ones tell me they will always remember Cawaskee for being a loving father to his daughter and a person who brought a smile to everyone he came across. Melinda LaFleur, Cawaskee's cousin, said the family plans to remember him by embodying the values he lived by–love and genorosity. 'That's all we can do is show love, that's it, cause all he did was show love, so all I'm trying to do is show love and give back to the community,' said LaFleur. Thomas told News 10 she also lost her brother to gun violence last March. She urges the community to put the guns down. 'Last year in March I lost my brother to the same thing and we still fighting for justice, so all I'm saying to the community is we all have to come together,' said Thomas. This investigation remains ongoing and authorities said they have not yet named any possible suspects in the shooting. Abbeville police catch man after high-speed chase to Lafayette Parish
ABBEVILLE, La. (KLFY)– Abbeville Police officers arrested a man after a car chase that started from Abbeville and ended in Lafayette Parish, officials said. Abbeville Police said on Thursday they attempted to stop Malcom Ardoin, 30, who they claimed was a suspect with an active warrant. As officers tried to approach the suspect's vehicle, Ardoin made a right turn on North Lafitte Road in Abbeville, continuing Northbound reaching speeds up to 104 miles per hour. Ardoin then proceed east on LA. 338 until the intersection of LA. 399 the headed North into Lafayette Parish, officers said. Ardoin evaded the police for over 20 miles, then made a U-turn and proceeded South on to Verot School Road and made a right heading west on LA. 92, officers said. Close Thanks for signing up! Officers said they were able to enter the private property and apprehend Adroin. Authorities said they transported and booked Ardoin to Abbeville Police Department then transported him to Vermilion Parish Correction Center. Ardoin is charged with aggravated flight from a police officer, distribution/possession with Intent to Distribute drug, possession of marijuana, unlicensed driver, illegal tint and resisting an officer, official said. Ardoin's bond is set at $10,000. Mamou mourns after Mardi Gras festivities turn deadly
MAMOU, La. () — Tragedy in Mamou continues as the community mourns the loss of loved ones and many people injured during Mardi Gras festivities. Fat Tuesday was about having a good time and celebrating Mardi Gras, but the day turned deadly when gunfire rang out in the crowd. Mamou Police and other agencies are helping to investigate what happened and why. Chris Ardoin, a Zydeco musician took to social media expressing disbelief and said the shooting brought back memories of when he was shot back in 2021. In a Facebook live video, he said, 15 minutes into his performance he heard gunfire. 'It brings flashbacks. I hear the shots go off and I immediately go back to the night I got shot.' he said.
