Austin Peay defensive back William Hardrick dies at the age of 22
CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Austin Peay transfer defensive back William Hardrick, who previously played for Mississippi State and Miami (Ohio), has died, the university announced Wednesday. The university said the 22-year-old Hardrick died Tuesday but did not provide details regarding a cause or location. Hardrick 'was an exceptional young man, and our team is heartbroken by his loss,' Austin Peay coach Jeff Faris said. 'He made everyone around him better and has made a real impact both on and off the field. We lift up the Hardrick family in prayer as we grieve this tragic loss with them.' Hardrick spent two seasons with Mississippi State, where he played in one game as a freshman in 2021. He transferred in 2023 to Miami. He played in 18 games for the RedHawks during the past two seasons, during which made 32 solo or assisted tackles, forced a fumble and broke up five passes. MADISON, Wis. — Wisconsin will begin its 2025 football season on a Thursday night. The Badgers announced that their season opener with Miami (Ohio) has been moved up from Aug. 30 to Aug. 28. Although Wisconsin announced this will be a night game at Camp Randall Stadium, the exact kickoff time and TV information will be revealed later. This will mark the second straight season that Wisconsin has opened its season on a weeknight. The Badgers began their 2024 season with a Friday night 28-14 victory over Western Michigan on Aug. 30. Wisconsin is trying to bounce back after going 5-7 last year, ending a string of 22 consecutive winning seasons. Miami (Ohio) went 9-5 with a 43-17 Arizona Bowl victory over Colorado State last season.
